I have uploaded a profile for Deathloop but there is NO 3D yet!
You can still play the game in immersive flat screen, with full head tracking,
but none of the Arkane profiles I tried worked. I tried Dishonored 1, 2 and Prey.
My profile is based on the Death Stranding profile. (I’ll keep experimenting)
Video and impressions coming later today.

I’m trying to play Death Stranding with vorpX cinema mode and my game slows down to an unplayable frame rate over the course of just a few minutes. When I first start it runs smoothly, for the opening cut scene and walking around, but within just a minute or two the frame rate gets slower and slower.

System specs are RTX3080, Ryzen 9 5900X, 32gb RAM, and I’m only trying 1080p resolution so I think it should run smoothly – I’ve tried windowed and full screen, low and high graphics settings in-game. The fact that it’s smooth for the first few minutes suggests I’m not just under-powered.

When panning around with the mouse the whole world looks blurry in motion, like a heavy blur camera effect. I’m not sure whether that effect is applied by the game or by vorpX? The second cut scene (that plays after 2 minutes of walking around) starts okay but by the end of that cutscene, the frame rate is single digits and the game is unplayable.

I tried switching modes between Z-Normal, Z-Adaptive, and No 3D. No 3D runs a bit smoother for a few minutes but starts bogging down too. I have a Reverb G2 and I’ve tried both SteamVR and OpenXR, with the same behaviour.

When I run the game without vorpX, it’s buttery smooth all the time (as I would expect with an RTX3080). And I have absolutely nothing else running, except vorpX, Steam, and the WMR portal.

Any ideas? Based on the first 5 minutes, the game looks really cool and I’d love to play it, but I can’t go back to flat screen gaming.

    Hi,

example Link, Death Stranding 3D Half SBS https://mega.nz/file/hFoViAyY#hrAz2e1UYrE0zYor4hoDdh0XC1waQ7PhMSRczkcFIBA

This is the unsuccessful result recording both VR-Eyes through OBS
    https://mega.nz/file/hFoViAyY#hrAz2e1UYrE0zYor4hoDdh0XC1waQ7PhMSRczkcFIBA

Simply put, I want what can be done through activating Generic 3D Display in VorpX, but while using it with my quest 2, so I can play normal and record in 3D, without the recording being compromised by my viewing settings.

I tried recording through OBS the left and right eye while using the Full VR mode, and cropping the picture in OBS. While this technically works, the eyes are out of sync -> unusable as soon as you move.

The data should be there anyway, it’s just that we only get one native screen as a display mirror.

Also would it be possible, to somehow record it native? So that I could technically record f.E. Full SBS 4k, while using a FHD screen.

Really think the advice regarding EGS games should be more prominent somewhere.

Well its just a general thing to check when running a game from a another store that the .exe is the same name. I don´t have any idea why different stores might use different .exe files since the game is otherwise identical. Demo versions also might have different names than the base game.

That’s my point – how does a new user know that’s it’s a “general thing” to check the exe file and then add it? It’s not in any help text that I’ve seen.

It’s hardly just general knowledge for the general public. Maybe you know to check that but tons of people like me wouldn’t.

    From vorpx configuration
    1. Local Profiles (3rd tab on the list)
    2. Search for death stranding and select it
    3. Create new profile based on this one
    4. Add the .exe file either by searching from the the install folder or you can launch the game first and the add the running process.

Thanks! I got it working using the above and it now works great. Think I’ll be playing via vorpx for a while now then

Im also suggesting checking some vorpx tutorials on youtube to get a better understanding of the features. For example https://youtu.be/6GaYtqg9-tA

Epic game store version uses different .exe so you need to make a copy of the default Death Stranding profile (in vorpx) and add the deathstranding.exe to it.

What headset are you using? I had some trouble getting it to work initially but it should work. Maybe test some other “easier” to hook games first before Death Stranding. Also make sure you have the correct headset/runtime selected in vorpx menu.

    Hi all,

I’m brand new to Vorpx and wanted to try Death Stranding as my first game. Is it broken? It just hangs at attaching and won’t hook into the game.

I’d appreciate any help as I’m really new to this and barely understand how any of it works.

    Thanks!

Death Stranding works now with openxr, most likely the issue was with dated Radeon software/driver. Still couldn´t get Control to hook but I have to try that later again.

Thanks could be only problem on my end too, since there are other games I have problem getting hooked like Control didn´t work for me in steamvr or openxr.

But performance wasn´t that bad with steamvr on Death Stranding so I will use that mode for now.

So this works only in steamvr mode and not in openxr?
Also for the next update can you add Deathstranding.exe to the process list, since the egs version uses that instead of ds.exe.

Hey guys, I’ve spent a few hours tinkering with it myself this morning & have spoken to a couple of other users on Twitter, we’re all experiencing the same thing that “thenevik” has mentioned. I can get a whopping 8fps max; using Death Stranding or Cyberpunk profile, only Resi & Vorpx running, Steam VR as the headset option, RTX 2080, 32GB RAM & i7 9700K processor with vertical sync turned off. Tested with Rift S & Quest 2 via link / Air link.

Demo ran pretty well (a few drops to the low 50s in terms of fps in the open world Village section) but the game currently seems unplayable with Vorpx, definitely a real shame as it’s hooking but something is making it drag like a slideshow.

I gave the demo a try just now, and after trying all 4 dx12 profiles, Death Stranding seemed to be the only one with functioning Z3D. However due to the very low fov in the demo the 3D effect is very subtle, even at maximum strength.

There doesn’t seem to be any way to increase fov in the demo, but hopefully the full release will.

No mention of dx11 support to come for RE8, which is a shame. RE7 G3D was quite a treat.

Edit2: I tried to test it with Death Stranding through Epic, but unlike Rocket League, vorpx fails to attach. Maybe it is some problem with DX12 games in general? I used steamVR in Vorpx general settings.
