I guess one or two people would disagree on the genius part, but thanks anyway.
To be sure the (laggy) vorpX gamepad stick emulation is really disabled, go the gamepad page of the vorpX ingame menu and set the “Head Tracking As Gamepad” option to “Off”. Judging from a short test there seems to be a glitch that sometimes still applies that despite head tracking being disabled.
Apart from that turning off FluidSync (display page of the vorpX menu) helps if your PC is fast enough to run the game at 90fps.
If you do the above, everything should be OK. In direct comparison there maybe is a tiny little bit more latency on Vive than on Rift, but I’m not really sure. Both are working quite well here with OpenTrack in Dirt 3.
Well OMGGGG IT’S LITERALLY NATIVE VR FOR ME WITH DIRT 3 LOOOL
ralf you’re a genius. Vorpx is a masterpiece and i’m so so so disappointed so any vivers ruined its reputation (im a viver myself)
i put the image zoom at 1.20, full vr mode with geometry 3d on, and trackir enabled.
BUT, only issue is there’s a half a second delay in head movement. If there was no delay, i aalmost swear i couldn’t tell the difference between it and a native vr game.
is the trackir head lag fixable by any chance..?
DIRT 2
BTW: Another benefit of vorpX is that you get (limited) head tracking in Codemaster games, since vorpX can use the head tracker as gamepad axis.
It is kind of ridiculous to call this game “supported”, the headtracking only has 3 positions , middle left and right. This is not headtracking this is crap.
In Codemasters racing games you basically have one two options:
1. vorpX can emulate the right gamepad stick with head tracking for looking around. Dirt 3 is already configured that way, so enabling the gamepad in the game’s options menu should be everything that is required. Not 100% sure about F1 2013. If it’s not working out of the box, set the vorpX gamepad settings up the same way as in Dirt 3 to make it work. This method is quite laggy though and not ideal.
2. The second option provides better tracking by emulating TrackIR input through a third party tool called OpenTrack, which you can download freely. The OpenTrack method should work with most Codemasters racing titles.
If the DEL key doesn’t bring up the menu, try to change the menu key binding in the vorpX config app, maybe the DEL key is blocked somehow on your machine.
Just installed vorpx and tried with Dirt 3 and F1 2013, and with both, get no headtracking, nor an in-game menu by pressing ‘Del’ key.
I see a 3D image, but no headtracking.
Anyone got any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
So close to an awesome experience if I get head tracking working!
i think i’ll buy the IR Tracker, the problem is how to fix the Antenas on the Rift.
Ho, Ralf, allow me a Question, is VORPX xtill full copatible with the Oculus Rift Consumer version ?
And a very last one (not especialy for ralf) ;) … do you know wher i can find some tutorial setup for GRID 2 (or autosport) and DIRT3 ?
i’ll have a big fternoon of testing ;)
Thanks Guys
regards
While technically possible the company behind Track IR unfortunately doesn’t allow their tracking API to be used by anything else than their own hardware.
You should be able to use OpenTrack though which can map SteamVR input to TrackIR. While theoretically also affected by the same legal issues, its author apparently doesn’t care, which is quite bold considering how incredibly protective the Track IR company acts regarding patents and IP in general. Maybe he lives in China, Russia or some other country that doesn’t care – but that’s just a guess.
You’ll probably have to use vorpX in SteamVR mode too to avoid conflicts.
There may be a different, vorpX internal solution for at least some Codemasters games in the next vorpX version, but I can’t really promise that yet.
Thank you for the quick response.
I did try OpenTrack, and did get it working through Freetrack. I’ve used Freetrack for many years in my simpit, so I’m very familiar with it.
I found I just need to have OpenTrack running first, then I run vorpx. I found as long as I have vorpx headtracking disabled for that game, (including gamepad headtracking) it can work fairly well together.
I will still have to play around with FOV settings etc in Dirt 2,etc but it does work. Thank you!
I can’t seem to get Grid AutoSport working natively with Oculus Rift however. (It did support Oculus Rift directly) Anyone havew any tips on getting that to work without using vorpx somehow?
Look forward to future Codemasters possible solutions with vorpx. Thank you again for the quick reply.
OK… I think the original problem, is that the Oculus headset only activates when you actually put it on, and vorpx is waiting for that to happen….
So I have vorpx mostly working which I am very happy about.
However…. I got vorpx to mainly run racing games like dirt 2, dirt 3, and other codemasters games.
I “thought” that vorpx would be able to use the head tracking emulation to support the Track IR headtracking that these games have. However, it seems that vorpx does not support direct head tracking for these games? Instead it emulates it only through gamepad or mouse emulation, etc? I understand other games need that, but these specific racing games already had head tracking support.
Please clarify so I don’t go insane trying to do things the hard way if its not even possible… :(
Hello all,
i am trying to run silent hunter 5 with vorpx but without success (on my vive)
(i make some tries on others olds games like ship simulator extremes, and i can run it without problem).
After a lot of tries, i had at the begin a lot of errors (problem of dll resolved with desactivating my antivirus). But now when i launch silent hunter 5 with vorpx on, nothing happens (sh5 is just running normaly but i can’t have it in my vive).
if someone already try it or if someone has some tips to share.
ps : i tried a lot of profiles (dirt3 or dirt2 for instance, and a lot of others), but without success.
Thanks !
Hmm, tried a few other games for a profile (BioShock 2, Dirt 3), and now I just get a “base: start” error message and things wont hook.
In addition to Cinema Mode and Direct VR there also is a hassle free quick and dirty setup described in the vorpX help, called the “1-2-3 Game Setup”. While it usually does not provide the best possible result, it brings every game to a playable state within 30 seconds.
It’s a great way to test things out quickly and a good starting point for further optimization.
Hi,
I encounter the same issue with the same HMD playing ARMA3 or GTAV with Vorpx.
But i also have this issue with DIRT RALLYE without Vorpx so may be it’s due to Oculus’s drivers.
I’m with ya on the Rocket League thing. About 98% of my time in VorpX is spent on RL (with head tracking and 3D, try it!), but post update the game will no longer hook. Tried recreating a local profile as I’ve done in the past (new profile based on Dirt 3 with the RL exe) but no dice. Sorry if this is the wrong thread for such things, but a way to rollback would be nice if possible.
In the meanwhile, I’m going to keep clicking things until I can get it to work. Pretty hard core addiction I’ve been nurturing for this game.
i there weve just got psvr working on steam with head tracking.
was woundering if your software suports the psvr on pc just avid pc gamer and didnt fancy the hefty price tag of oculas or vive plus my 2 kids play ps4 so made total sence
now can have best of both just my old games grid, grid 2 ,grid autosport dirt 2 and 3 , i fancy playing in vr if you could let me know would be great
thanks for support
A full install will probably help.
You can simply use the web installer that you received when you purchased vorpX for that. It will download the latest version available. If you don’t have your web installer anymore, you can get a new one here.
Before you get accustomed to the options vorpX offers, the best way to use vorpX is the quick and dirty “1-2-3 Game Setup” described in the help. Not perfect, but simple. Even that does 10x more than the discontinued program you mention, which doesn’t even provide any kind of Stereo 3D.
BTW: You don’t need to launch the config app to start games with vorpX. Only the injection watcher has to be running.
