Topic: Activation key
sevensixtyParticipantBefore I raise a paypal dispute because I cant use the software I legitimately paid for, I would like one last opportunity to get my license activated. I have not broken the license agreement, I have not installed on more than 1 machine, and in 20 years of purchasing software and supporting developers I have never had problems getting license keys every time I reinstall my OS. I can find nowhere in the license agreement that prevents me from doing this.

crysisheldParticipantAs long as the developer (one man project) insists on doing everything himself and not adding an option that you can add custom profiles I think this would never happen.
I liked vorpX but as further updates which add new games only there to get new customers who don´t have VorpX already I hardly think Ralf will add such an option to his software.
It´s all about the money you know. Even this stupid copy protection makes me mad as I bought it and when you re-install it on the same system it changes the code you have to send to him. That is ridiculous as the copy protection checks for changes in the reg – and everyone knows as soon as you install or uninstall something the registry has been altered… so I am no longer supporting this software and hope that the new Oculus will be as good that I don´t have to be dependent of VorpX anymore.
Yeah that’s not true… vorpX adds new games as often as old games. The additions of features from when I bought it till now is 20 fold probably. Tell you the truth when Oculus decided to just dump direct mode and leave a lot of devs just kinda hanging and vorpX kind of had to be rebuilt to work without direct mode. Up until then things were crackin up in this beezy dude with all kinds of updates. I’m sure I’m over simplifying it but you get the idea. If your butt hurt be butt hurt at Oculus for jerking people around every other month about something new* or straight up lying about prices, lying about support, lying about games, lying about features… The truth is all games are a little different. It’s those little things that vorpx does for you 90% of the time. It’s those little things that take a lot of time to tune in and code and make work for each and every individual profile or game. Windows 10 also is having all kinds of issues I’m sure they are trying to get that handled too. If you haven’t noticed most people/devs are having issues with windows 10 (surprise-surprise) so that’s not really vorpx fault either.
Even if vorpX bounced tomorrow Ive gotten my moneys worth that’s for damn sure. That’s not to say I wouldn’t love faster more plentiful updates but hell I’d also like to not be charged $700 for a cloth wrapped head set you cant clean and comes with a bunch of crap no one wants(forced games, controller, goofy as hell headphones, no vorpx like support so you cant play your fav games only mostly shit ones from oculus store)… I could go on and on about how much I don’t like oculus but the point is vorpx is pretty damn sweet.
* the word new does NOT men something better, or true, or wanted…
Dude, no offense! I never said that this is a bad software. I bought it becauese I needed it but! and here is what I mean the updates of the games supoorted by vorpx should grow faster. I don´t need new technical updates of Vorpx every week. But at least new profiles for new released games. It shouldb´t be too much word to add 3 or 4 games a month.

Feb 19, 2016 at 9:01pm #97262In reply to: What is with the controller assignments in GTA 5
SR212787ParticipantIt’s been nearly a year since my last comment. I see the buttons are still not fixed. Yet even worse.
Why does Vorpx override the games buttons? I get that it has to add support for the Oculus, but that’s just looking and partial movement. It’s not jump, fire, weapon select, etc. There is no reason Vorpx needs it’s own button assignments. If there is it could be shared instead of just saying “use Keyboard”.
You are selling a product that works, but you can’t control. It’s pointless to play GTA for example if you want to fly a plane or helicopter. “Use the Keyboard” is a horrible response to a serious problem. And the most upsetting thing to me is when I last use Vorpx, YES almost a year ago, The left stick would steer and move a plane or chopper like it should. NOW it controls the up and down and you have to use the numpad to steer and move.
I paid for something that doesn’t work and I haven’t even used in almost a year, coming back to it now thinking it’s gotta be fixed to find it’s worse!
I wouldn’t care about all this if this product were free, but it’s not. I don’t want to use the fecking keyboard.OH and GTA isn’t even in 3D anymore!
Get it together.Feb 16, 2016 at 5:37am #97215
VRISHERE80BlockedOkay, I enjoyed G3D games with VorpX alot, so I look at Unreal 3 Engine FPS, which are not supported yet and try them with renamed game exe. Here are my results and begging to Ralf to make them supported because of problems with steam and FOV, when renaming.
My FOV recommendations with them: The official recommendation is 120 FOV at 1920×1080 Pixel 1:1 Distance Zoom 1.00
With that settings you have mostly a good perspective, but massive overhead to the sides and blurry image, because you can see only a third of the picture. So I try to “calibrate” it with 90 FOV and 1600×1200 / 4:3 resolution.
90 FOV: Distance Zoom 0.56
or
95 FOV: Distance Zoom 0.60
This looks the same than 120 FOV at 1.00 Zoom, but without overhead and a much clearer graphic (more ppi).
Renaming: There are a couple of UE3 Profiles with different features. I tested with BorderlandsPreSequel.exe and ADVGame-Win32-Shipping.exe (Deadfall)
Both offer positional headtracking. Now the games:
Bulletstorm (ShippingPC-StormGame.exe)

Ingame graphic settings I set shadows and Post Processing to low.
Resolution to 1920×1080 (4:3 gives black bars)
To set FOV use this Tool, because of crypted inis:
http://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/download/580-bulletstorm-ini-editor/
to edit the ini’s:
FOV
1. Go to %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Bulletstorm\StormGame\Config\ StormCamera.ini
2. Change to the desired FOV.Framerate
1. Edit %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Bulletstorm\StormGame\Config\StormEngine.ini
2. Change MaxSmoothedFrameRate to a higher cap; alternately, remove the frame rate cap entirely by setting bSmoothFrameRate to false.Mouse Smoothing (for proper Headtracking)
1. Edit %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Bulletstorm\StormGame\Config\StormInput.ini
2. Find bEnableMouseSmoothing and to ‘false’ to disable mouse smoothing. You also need to calibrate Headtracking manually per VorpX Menu: Fokus something in “real life” and slowly shake your head left and right and notice how it stays in your view. Then do the same ingame and edit the HeadTracking value.
My G3D rating: 8/10
very little lightning issues, some auto head movement when walking and fast gameplay makes it a little nauseous. Iron Sight you need to aim between the dots, its playable. Great 3D-Effekt.
Nearly the same settings with Bulletstorm ini editor with:
Alien Rage Unlimited (ShippingPC-AFEARGame.exe)

This game has some strange light sources in G3D, so I only recommend Z3D.
Homefront (HOMEFRONT.exe)

The FOV settings ingame only works for Multiplayer, not the Campaign (only in first mission). There is a Homefront FOV Changer: http://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/download/487-homefront-fov-changer/
But that only works with the HOMEFRONT.exe, so we need a profile for that.G3D, positional-tracking works (turn of DX11 ingame, restart), but many issues especially with shadows. So turn down shadows ingame, Post Processing and turn off frame limit and mouse smoothing in the game menus. Weapon sights are good playable with red dot weapons. Easier for the eye with Z3D.
My G3D rating 6/10. Too many graphical problems with g3d, but playable. +1 with the FOV changer.
Medal of Honor (2010) (moh.exe)

The Campaign is UE3 Engine, so works great (Multiplayer is Frostbite). Documents\EA Games\Medal of Honor\Config\MOHAEngine.ini
bSmoothFrameRate=false
MOHAInput.ini
bEnableMouseSmoothing=false
The G3D looks amazing with very little lightning issues, but overall nearly perfect, but…
The FOV is 55. Again there is a FOV-Changer for the original.exe:
http://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/download/389-medal-of-honor-2010-fov-changer/
So… VorpX specific profile needed.
G3D rating: 9.5/10 possible if getting FOV to a playable viewSantum 2 (SanctumGame-Win32-Shipping.exe)

Wow, that was a surprise. It’s a steam only game, so you can’t rename it so easily, but after I get it to work with the Deadfall profile (ADVGame-Win32-Shipping.exe), the game works flawlessly in G3D, with all graphic options maxed out, even shadows and lightning stuff and keeps a clean graphical image. Even FOV adjustable in the menus. Easy setup, looks great, very nice to play in VR.
\Documents\My Games\Sanctum2\SanctumGame\Config
SanctumEngine.ini
bSmoothFrameRate=false
SanctumInput.ini
bEnableMouseSmoothing=falseG3D-rating 10/10
Singularity (Singularity.exe)

Looks amazing in G3D, but yeah, bad FOV…
Needs Flawless Widescreen or Widescreen Fixer Tool to fix FOV. So not with renamed exe.
G3D-rating 10/10 (with better FOV)Section 8 Prejudice (S9-Win32-F.exe)

Untested, because it has a launcher and can’t rename the game.exe
FOV settings per ini:
http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Section_8:_Prejudice#Field_of_view_.28FOV.29
bSmoothFrameRate & bEnableMouseSmoothing like usual.Rainbow Six Vegas 2 (R6Vegas2_Game.exe)

Very narrow FOV and not changeable, enjoyable in a cinema view setting. Now the UE3 Engine begins to look old and outdated
Maybe it helps to fiddle around with Widescreen Fixer:
https://www.widescreenfixer.org/
Very good G3D Effekt.@Ralf: All the above called exe just need a copy/paste UE3-profile.
How the heck do you get medal of honor to work it just fails to start in steam when i rename it. I’m getting so sick and tired of this bs

Any effort you invest trying to get even sub par support working in Firewatch is much appreciated. You’re doing god’s work Ralf!

in forum Technical Support
jhondidfoolParticipantSo, everything was fine until I updated to the newest nvidia drivers.
Then, for some reason, my Runtime decided it would not detect my DK2, so I reinstalled and fixed that issue.
Since then I’m getting BSOD about dxgmms2.sys ONLY when using Skyrim with VorpX.I’ve tried everything I could think of, and it has not served any purpose; on the other hand, I have seen this library has been causing problems in Win 10 (The OS I use, Pro version) since as early as October, maybe before that.
10220 seems to be the Windows build that started it all, but I’ve had a newer version for a while and no problems until that point. “dxgmms2” standing for “DirectX Game Memory Maanagement Service 2”, and being such a widespread issue, one would think either MS would do something about it (they haven’t) or it would affect most games. Oddly enough, in my system, Skyrim + VorpX seems to be the only thing that triggers the BSOD. I can play Skyrim on screen and I can use VorpX with other games, even with FO4, which uses a more modern version of the same engine.
There is one fix, however, that has proven to work completely, and it is to install the last Win8 NV Drivers released before DX12 release. While this would be great if I didn’t use an OR, Runtime 0.8 needs a later version which, I have tested, still has the problem.
This clearly is MS’ fault, not Ralf’s, but, still, I’d like to ask you, Ralf, if you could take a look into it and possibly avoid calling this service since it has proven to be problematic.
Thanks.

stefan1331Participant@Jerrow – I don’t know, I think it’s a bit better; at least it’s playable (even though I still have to look almost all the way back, in reality, in order to just see the passenger seat in game). I don’t think that the “override xbox controller” makes any difference, and turning it to “full” makes the game a mess for me (controlls are totally different) so I’ll just leave it on partial (only overriding the right analog stick).
Well until something gets improved (either vorpx or vr mode) at least it’s playable. I don’t want to waste any more hours just trying stuff without any success and then realizing I wasted so much time when I could have done something more useful. Thanks again for all your help.

MapaxiusParticipantNot even the desktop viewer works, it automatically crashes when trying to connect to the rift, I can see the tracker camera light turning on, but in one second the game or the desktop viewer crashes. Thanks for your recommendation, your advices are always great, but I can’t get vorpX to work. I searched for any response from support, but I didnt have one. I already reinstalled vorpX 2 times, the problem persists. This issue is driving me crazy

RalfKeymasterPlease make sure to send and e-mail to the address mentioned in the license dialog.
Do not use the contact form for sending key requests. This will definitely cause delays and in the worst case might even get overlooked completely.
Jan 10, 2016 at 11:19am #96252
moarveerParticipantHTC Vive price is a moving target. It could be “cheap” that is, nearly the same price of CV1, since HTC manufactures themselves all components, it doesn’t have the expensive fabric thing, screens won’t probably be samsung amoled so cheaper, lighthouse is really cheap to manufacture compared to oculus cam, no integrated headphones, it doesn’t include extras like games, xb1 controller or carrying case. HTC has great distribution centers worldwide so even if it was more expensive, it could be cheaper for non-US customers compared to $800-1000 Oculus if they remove import taxes.
On the other hand, HTC needs to make money on hardware and cannot subsidize the price, and controllers and chaperone camera add to the price. And then there’s the pure marketing factor: even if they can manufacture Vive a lot cheaper, why sell it at lower price when they are the more complete solution? However, Oculus will recieve Touch in H2 and possibly full room VR, will they prefer to get more market share early on or go for the quick buck from early adopters?
Then there’s the Valve factor, which is completely unknown. Do they help subsidize the product to help selling their own Steam Machines and Steam platform for VR? We don’t know if they are really part of the hardware production at any level or not.
Short answer: who knows.
Jan 9, 2016 at 10:12pm #96235In reply to: Arma 3 Crashing
RalfKeymaster@ Incontinentia : just in case you didn’t do that already in your non-mod test, please try a totally clean install with default settings, without OpenTrack and with the Oculus runtime 0.8.
Also generally please absolutely no overclocking anywhere before reporting potential crash bugs (or any potential bugs for that matter). Playing games with vorpX is a lot more taxing on both the GPU and the CPU, so even if everything runs fine without vorpX, overclocking may still cause issues with vorpX.
A 90 minute test run (idling in the start area of the Infantry Showcase) here went by without anything happening. Please try the same thing and if this also works for you, but you still get issues anywhere else, please provide exact steps to reproduce, just in case the problem is location based somehow.
I’ll do another test run over night in a different scenario, but for now I would say a reliably reproducible issue (memory leak or similar) that always happens can pretty much be ruled out.

MapaxiusParticipantHi Ralf,
First I would like to thank you for your quick response. I did checked the spam folder, I checked it everyday including today and still there aren’t any response from support. I disabled the antivirus, disabled all the extensions on windows, still games crashes at startup. Vorpx opens perfectly and never crashes, but when it comes to try playing any game supported, the games crashes at startup, I am going mad trying to find a solution because I got high expectations about this. Do you have any knowledge about a problem like mine while using an alienware machine, perhaps I am missing something, like a program that may interfiere with vorpX, I currently am without ideas. I use the troubleshooting guide but nothing there helped me. Could you please tell me when the next update of vorpx is coming? Even if you don’t know exactly, could you give me an estimate? I spent 40 dollars on this, I knew the risks, still it would be incredibly awesome to get vorpX working. Again thank you for your support.
