The Park looks neat! Have to check it out, thanks.

    Hitman 2016 (G3D/Z3D)

Managed to get both Geometry and Z-normal working with separate profiles, so I uploaded both to try. G3D yields a slight halo effect around 47 and NPCs, so Z3D is probably my preferred – looks near as good at this distance.
Game FOV is slightly lower than I had hoped, but is still very playable in curved cinema.

    – set to Direct3D11 in launcher
    – use 16:9 resolution (1920×1080)

*Play in edgepeek mode or use forced FOV Enhancement if FOV feels too low
*Set G3D Shadow Treatment to OFF to disable bad shadows (Auto for ON)
    *Free Demo available on Steam

    Sniper Elite V2 (Z3D)

I tried a long time to find Geometry for this one (for those bone-shattering bullet cams 😁) but failed. The world looks quite nice in Z-normal cinema though, so I’m happy with it. Cutscenes look great too.

    – before each launch, pause vorpX Watcher. Once game launcher is ready, resume Watcher and click Play
    – use a 16:9 resolution (1920×1080)

*Using in game supersampling can disable 3D

I restarted from the beginning, and yes, the hands look good now. Holding them up reveals no halo. Nice.

I’ve loaded a couple saves and found the hands themselves now look as they should in each eye, it’s just the watch and weapons that still halo.

I’ve discovered you can now make one eye halo-free using the main eye setting, with camera height at zero. So this helps to minimize it some.

Hopefully a full fix wouldn’t have to be on a per item basis. Neat that the hands are working though.

Installing with the web installer always gets you the latest version. I only have a save game pretty close to the beginning of the game in the first house you enter before you even got a gun. There the halo is fixed for me. Would be great if you could test there and let me know if it’s OK for you in that place or not.

Is the new RE7 profile labeled 18.3.1?

I downloaded the profile listed 18.3.0 to test on Wednesday, which did not appear to fix the weapon halo for me. I’m trying to determine if my vorpX is outdated or if the profile is not working.

My config is still listed as 18.3.0 since reinstall, and does not initiate any updates upon restart.

“should finally fix the hand/weapon halo”

Oh cool! A good reason to replay for Halloween :) . Cheers.

That is a clear oversight indeed. Will be changed for the next update.

BTW: I just uploaded an updated RE7 profile (author [vorpX]) to the cloud that should finally fix the hand/weapon halo.

It’s more or less untested though, so consider it potentially broken in some other way. Would be great if you could give some feedback in regard to potential side effects, e.g. anything important like UI elements/text/game objects missing. In that case I would have to revert the fix.

    @ralf
I’d like to throw in my hat to say that I would also like the option for motion smoothing even if there are visual artifacts. Consistent visual for image but juddery framerate versus Occasional(or even common) artifact but smooth framerate, I’d definitely choose smoothmotion.

I’ve gotten used to SVP smoothmotion for video and even when there are halos around some things it’s very enjoyable with my 96hz monitor.

Thanks for the tip for Conan Exiles profile. Z3D seems to work well as intended.

The ghosting you describe is a normal artifact of Z3D unfortunately, as the images being reproduced have to guess how to fill in the gaps by mimicking the pixels around them. It’s faking 3D from flat image information.

This halo effect is only very noticeable for things very close to you, but otherwise it works quite well to give the world depth. You can decrease the focal distance setting as well as the weighting to minimize this effect, until you find a balance between 3D strength and acceptable halo. Some games fare better than others in this regard.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider also has native Side by Side 3D support if you’d rather play it in real G3D (without the ghost halos). There are a couple profiles on the cloud you can try. See here.

    Dark Sector (G3D)

Because of its millions of different light sources it was very hard to create a profile (still not finished, only about 90% but if you can accept a few things this 3rd person shooter could be a nice VR journey.)

The game has (timing ?) problems with starforce and vorpX, version 1.01 will work, though it takes a few tries before VorpX successfully hooks. )

    Very important settings required:

    – update to v.1.01
    – use “borderless gaming”, deselect everything exept “keep window in foreground”.
    – close vorpx configurator !
    – add this:
    Graphics.DisplayAspectRatio=FullScreen4x3
    Graphics.FOV=120
    somewhere beneath:
    [Windows_Config,/Types/Config]
    in DS.cfg
    – Turn OFF any graphics setting like fog ect.If you dont, you may experience bad lighting effects and Halos.
    – Dont touch 3D-Fov enhancement ! – use game FOV (see above) instead
    – Use antialiasing in Nvidia Panel
    – Use edgepeek mono if text converges too much (or lower 3D Strength)
    – Profile availiable from the cloud, FULL VR w. Headtracking

Notes: Quite often faint Halos around objects under certain light angles, convergence problems with footnotes. Very precise shooting !

If I understand OculusRiftRocks correctly, you need to download and install the renderer from the site he linked above, enable DX9 and use the Halo profile in vorpX (or rename the game’s exe).

Never tried that myself though, so I don’t know whether it really works.

    Hello,

Because i noticed this during some recent game fixes i think its worth mentioning. Some DX9 games are not terminating properly. After shutting down their executables remain in taskmanager and must be terminated manually. Some games are Halo 2, Dreamfall: Longest Journey, Iron Man so far.

In VorpX log i found a WRN:
    WRN: OpenVRDirectModeManager Submit Error: 101 101 0

    Can anyone confirm this ?

Tonight i was going to play a new game but ended up making a Halo 2 Profile… haha

    Halo 2 (G3D)

This game is a mess concerning wrong crosshair, huge hands and resolutions,
But after some tweaking i have managed to create a G3D profile which let you if you are a fan of the game play it in a relatively decent way.

    – If the game is too fast or studders , set VSync to ON or Adaptive in the Nvidia settings. (if you have a Nvdidia card).
    – If the crosshair is annoying you (rendered at wrong position) you can completely disable it with this fix .Put the content into the game folder where your halo2.exe is located. Ignore the readme.txt ! (Note: its a fix for 3D Vision i wrote a while ago, we are lucky, it works with vorpX too.). For this case ignore VorpXs message.
    – Best resolution is 1600×1200, higher settings then 1920×1200 will not work, the game has a fixed ratio when choosing different resolutions.
    – The games freezes when shutting down, you must terminate it through the taskmanager.

The frame rate is very choppy (I also reduced head tracking speed to 0.5 to make looking around feel better), also it feels like everything is zoomed in way too much, it makes looking around very difficult (also, fyi, I’m a complete noob to vorpx).

Uhm, will this make rift 2.0 work with vorpx? The only way I seem to be able to get it work is by going back to the old, classic rift interface (which will be phased out eventually). I downloaded the vorpx desktop viewer that you have in a stickied thread, but that did not work.

I tried opening haloce.exe, but I just got what looked like a generic, undecorated app window with the word loading at the bottom of it. Also the frame rate got extremely bad and everything was very choppy. I only got it to work when I rolled back the rift home, but that option won’t be available forever.
