    Hi,
    I found the “Home Cinema”, idea cool, but could you also make a mode, where the screen edges are blurred, so that it seems like the game shows in your whole fov ? like this
    Because I noticed that most people don`t even notice that the edges are only repeatet and blurred.

    And than I have a few other questions:

    1. Can Vopx display unsupported games in more or less good 3D, after the update ?

    2. Will the be a profile creater in the future, so that the vorpx users can make there own 3D profiles ?

    3. Will there be a fix for the “stretched edges” (The distortion occuring when looking around), because it makes me sick and breaks the immersion for me.

    4. And will there be a HUD detection, so that you can move it around ? (I know that this is difficult to make, but I also know that it is possible and necessary)

    After downloading the update, VorpX no longer recognizes my DK2. I get the standard “The configured device was not found. Vorpx will exit now.” message. Earlier today, before I connected to the internet and installed the update, VorpX was running Skyrim like a champ.

    Hello,

    I bought VorpX today but i cant seem to get it running. I can open the config tool perfectly but the vorpControl.exe doesn’t start. It looks like its going to work but after a couple of seconds it does nothing. It doesn’t show any error message and doesn’t even appear on the system tray or task manager.

    Almost certainly the cause of your issue is a glitch in your vorpX or Skyrim config. This message indicates that the game tries to switch to a resolution that is not supported by the display device. Usually this means that either the Rifts display orientation is not set correctly or that the game is not set to the desired display resoution.

    Please double check whether you followed all steps in the DK2 Setup Guide and set the resolution of the game to 1920×1080 fullscreen.

    You have two options to use vorpX:

    A. The convenient one (works with most games)

    1. Set the Rift DK2 to “Extend Desktop to HMD”
    2. Use the Rift DK2 as SECONDARY monitor in Windows
    3. Set the Rift DK2 to “Portrait” mode in Windows
    (might be “Landscape flipped” in Windows 8)
    4. Set vorpX to “Show on DK2″ display wise in the vorpX config app.

    B. The compatible one

    1. Set the Rift DK2 to “Extend Desktop to HMD”
    2. Use the Rift DK2 as PRIMARY monitor in Windows
    3. Set the Rift DK2 to “Portrait” mode in Windows
    (might be “Landscape flipped” in Windows 8)
    4. Set vorpX to “Use system settings” display wise in the vorpX config app.

    It is important to choose the right setting in the vorpX config app according to your display settings in Windows. It is important to choose the right setting in the vorpX config app according to your display settings in Windows.

    Hi.

    The first time I tried to run Skyrim (clean install), it worked. However I had not yet flipped the display, so I saw a split screen. So I exited, changed settings in my control panel.

    Now upon launching the game, the screen flickers several times and then an error message pops up:

    “Failed to initialize renderer.
    Unknown error creating the renderer.”

    In the oculus config, i have Rift Display Mode set to “Extend desktop to HME”.

    In VorpX I have:
    Device Settings – Oculus Rift Devkit 2
    Do not use an oculus profile.
    Show rift on DK2

    (and yes I have tried flipping the screen back via control panel)

    Any help would be appreciated. I just received my DK2 a couple of days ago. I purchased it primarily for Doom 2 and Skyrim. I learned after my package arrived that Doom 2 (specifially GZ3Doom port) only works on DK1, so if I can get Skyrim to work, I won’t be totally bummed lol

    Please help, I am using a dk2 with laptop now (win7 64, rift runtime 0.4.4,gtx 870m nvidia optimus)
    I set the rift runtime to extend mode and got team fortresses2 running under steam correctlly.

    now the problem is I run Vorpx 0.75 and then start skyrim @ 1080p, it bounced back and indicating the resolution is not supported, please change the resolution. i tried differet res, including the window mode, only the 800*600 under fullscreen mode works.
    however the image is 90 degree flipped. I tried to pre flip the extended screen or set the rift as the main displayer and none of these works.(I used tridef 3d a few weeks ago, is that a possible cause?)

    I then try battle field 4, every time I click the “join server”, it indicates “direct 11 dll error”, I can enter the game normally once I turned off vorpx.

    and advice? please.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your reply.

    I keep getting the same error message whenever I try to order:

    Dear Customer,
    We were unable to verify that the information you entered on the order form is valid.

    If you have not received notification within 24 hours, please contact our customer service department for assistance.

    For reference, your order id is XXXXXXX-XXXXXX.

    Is the issue coming from the fact that I am trying to use French payment methods (Paypal and Credit Card) and that I am in Malta?

    Thanks,

    I didn’t see a way to edit my previous post, so a double.

    Also, to specify the menu, sometimes the image doesn’t zoom back out after exiting the menu. Though I haven’t noticed any patterns to replicate it, it seems to be random but if I do notice a pattern I’ll let you know.

    Also, my Borderlands save, http://s000.tinyupload.com/?file_id=98411332024257196370

    You might have to clean the metadata so you can use it with your profile, also I have a Steam copy, and I am still at the beginning of the game, about to face the first boss with the jump pads.

    Hi Adam!

    Don’t give up, it will surely work!

    The main reason, why the game crashes at startup, use to be, that you are online! Please note, that when I say “offline mode” it doesn’t only refer to choosing “launch the game in offline mode” on the HUD when you are already in the game, but it also refers to Uplay! So, before launching Far Cry 4 exe file, launch Uplay first, and switch online mode to OFFLINE! VorpX won’t work otherwise and the game immidiatelly crashes in online mode.

    To those, who either have a startup crash problem OR the problem, that you can not make the game run on the Rift’s screen, again, please make sure, that all the following parameters are set OK:

    1. Make sure, that the rift is properly installed. I use the rift the way, that in my desktop/VGA settings:
    – DK2 and my monitor are side by side (monitor is the first and next to it on the right there is the DK2),
    – DK2 is in portrait mode and NOT landscape
    – In resolution options DK2 is set to 1920X1080 AND 75 Hz (this is essential!)
    – My DK2 is set to be secondary screen (apart from some rare cases as exceptions, I think DK2 doesn’t need to be set as primary screen!)

    2. WITHOUT launching VorpX you must launch the game first and make the following settings properly:
    – aspect ratio: auto
    – resolution 1920×1080
    – screen: FULLSCREEN (NOT borderless or windowed!)
    – refresh rate: 60 Hz (as there is not an option for 75 Hz, but if anybody knows, how to upscale this to 75 Hz, please, tell me)

    Before exiting the game, SAVE the changes!

    3. Set the rift to extended mode and disable OR Service.

    4. BEFORE launching FC4 exe, launch Uplay and switch it to OFFLINE mode! Disabling the overlay can not hurt either.

    5. BEFORE launching FC4 exe, launch VorpX and enter general configuration. The most important thing there is to set “SHOW ON RIFT DK2” and NOT “use system settings”! This is highly important, otherwise you can run into the same problem, that the game won’t show up on your rift’s screen, only on your monitor!

    I also use the following settings turned ON:
    – Disable Aero on game start
    – Restore desktop windows

    I also had the problem, as some other commenters mentioned too, that in the game everything was “too close”, and it made me a headache quite soon. To avoid this you can create optimal view by harmonizing the following settings:
    – Increasing FOV in VorpX Game Settings Optimizer menu (for my taste, FOV 130 worked much better, and resulted a more comfotable gameplay, than FOV 120)
    – Altering vignette scale and image zoom settings ingame through VorpX control panel
    – Switching between lens A and lens B settings

    I hope, that the guide above helped in solving FC4 – DK2 problems to all of you!

    Keeping all these instructions I think there is no way to fail playing FC4 on DK2.

    Please, write some feedback, how you succeeded.

    Greetings!

    I just finished Bioshock Infinite with dk2 and vorpx which was one of the greatest game experiences of my life. This was the steam version, running windows 7 on an evga nvidea 640 with 8 gb ddr2, with graphics set to very high. I used the following setup:
    In game settings:
    Start Bioshock Infinite without vorpx first.
    Go to options, graphics, set field of view to max.
    Ensure game is fullscreen, and 1920X1080.
    Start New Game, enter the light house, exit game.
    (Ensuring ini creation, and a good point to trigger autosave to jump in and out of game while adjusting)
    Startup Vorpx.
    Right click tray icon, Configure Vorpx, General Settings,
    Under Disaply/Monitors set to Show on Rift DK2 and disable Aero on game start.
    (I have had alot of luck with this working correctly since the patch)
    Apply and close.
    Restart Bioshock Infinite with vorpx on.
    You should be able to see well enough to continue your game.
    (Use middle mouse click edge peak if needed to enter game)
    Ingame vorpx settings:
    Once ingame push Delete on your keyboard to bring up vorpx menu.
    Click Mouse wheel to zoom back in to see menu clearly.
    On Main tab:
    Set 3d Reconstruction Z Normal
    Seperation (3d-strength) 2.00
    Depth Weighting (Near-Far) 1.00
    (These are the most immersive 3d setting I found, that do not distort quality or cause my stomach to turn)
    On Display Tab:
    Fix Chromatic Aberration On
    Image Zoom 0.67
    (This will pull the camera back far enough to capture most of the screen without taking you out of the screen)
    On Input Tab:
    HT Sensitivity .38
    HT Roll On
    HT Smoothing Very Low
    (This will seem a bit slow, once you reach the target practice area i suggest you practice till perfect learning to aim and shoot using head tracking before you proceed, and tweak these settings to what suits you. Alot of people dislike this method of shooting and want the crosshair disconnected, but having tried steamvr halflife 2 I can tell you hands down, I love aiming with headtracking. You will also want to tweak your right joystick sensitivity ingame control options to your liking, I also found that a lower sensitivity worked for me.)
    Handle Gamepads Internally Off
    Head Tracking as Gamepad Off
    (This will allow you to play with an xbox controller using in game setup, which does not coflict with head tracking for me)
    OK&Save (exit vorpx panel)
    Exit Game one more time.
    INI Settings:
    Open the following folder:
    C:\Users\(your username)\Documents\My Games\BioShock Infinite\XGame\Config
    Open XUserOptions.ini with notepad.
    Change:
    MaxUserFOVOffsetPercent=00.000000
    To:
    MaxUserFOVOffsetPercent=28.570000
    (This will boost your fov back far enough to make the depth feel correct)
    Save and Close
    Open XGame.ini with notepad.
    Change:
    [XCore.XScreenManager]
    bUseDefaultSafeRect=true
    SafeRectX0=0
    SafeRectY0=0
    SafeRectX1=1920
    SafeRectY1=1080
    MaxDefaultSafeRectAspectRatio=1
    To:
    [XCore.XScreenManager]
    bUseDefaultSafeRect=false
    SafeRectX0=0
    SafeRectY0=0
    SafeRectX1=900
    SafeRectY1=700
    MaxDefaultSafeRectAspectRatio=0
    Save and Close
    (This last edit alters the positioning of your hud elements. These settings will pull your healthbar, vigorbar etc inside your field of view. This will allow you to enjoy the game without ever having to use edge peak)
    Restart Bishock infinite and enjoy.

    While waiting for the rfactor 2 update (with hopefully 3D function), I thought I am give rfactor 1 a try again as it is listed in the games being supported.

    I have installed rfactor and it is launching without VorpX started, but if I start the Vorpx Service , I see the rfactor start message, a black Screen but then back to the desktop.
    Meaning I can not launch rfactor running the VorpX Service.

    Any idea what I might do wrong or have missed ?
    Thanks in advance for your help

    Hi!

    I think I found a solution, at least worked for me. The problem was, that for some reason, among special conditions (alt-tabing or maybe else) ingame settings fullscreen mode sometimes turns to borderless, and I didn’t notice that also happened in my game settings.

    So, for me the following steps made it OK on DK2:

    1. Enter the game first without launching VorpX, and you make sure to have these settings: aspect ratio: auto; refresh rate: 60 Hz; screen: fullscreen (NOT windowed or borderless!).
    2. Save the changes and quit the game to desktop.
    3. Set the rift to extended, and pause the service in configuration utility.
    4. Launch VorpX (make sure VorpX was updated to the latest build).
    5. Launch Far Cry 4 in offline mode.

    I hope this helped!

    p.s.: The game makes terrible nausea for me in the rift, however I tried to alter several VorpX settings (image zoom, vignette scale, etc). It would be really usefull, if somebody made a little guide about the VorpX options and how the lower or higher alterations of these settings one by one will take an effect in the game

    Getting “configured device was not found”, driver/ovrservice/vorpx/computer restarts have no effect. Unity and Unreal Engine demos work, as does Elite: Dangerous. Running Win7 64bit, extended, Rift as main display, aero disabled, antivirus and firewall disabled, VorpX Conf set to DK2. SteamVR throws “HMD not known”, though it manages to light up the camera before timing out.

    Anyone else with similar problems?

    I’m having the same problem after the update.

    I literally did everything in the trouble shooting guide step by step just now, but the problem still persists.

    The problem is exactly like what blueicevirus described, and seemed to be the case in your description (If a game does not show two similar images side by side but instead is displayed like on a normal monitor).

    I’d also like to add that not all games are having this issue. As far as i know:

    The DK2 config demo works fine
    The Truscany demo from Oculus Share works fine
    The Miku Entertainment demo from Oculus Share works fine
    The minecoaster demo from Oculus Share works fine
    The AAAAAaaaaaaAAAAAaaaaaaaAAAAculus demo from Oculus Share IS HAVING THIS ISSUE, although it works fine under direct HMD mode. I’ve not tested this before i ran skyrim, so i’m not sure if it was having the problem before.

    The minecrift game from Oculus Share is HAVING THIS ISSUE, although it worked fine before i ran skyrim. Minecrift doesn’t have a direct HMD mode so i couldn’t conduct more tests on it.

    The Ocean Rift game from Oculus Share works fine

    These are games i’ve tested so far.
