I can not fully help you, if you can´t make full vr working.
But I have made full vr profile for mass effect 1 and it works pretty well.
Its a bit zoomed out, so you still feel like you are watching a screen, but you look and aim with your head. And when you get used to the view, it feels damn cool being behind Shepards shoulder:) I can upload the profile for you?

The ‘Play Style’ option is usually set per default to the one that suits a game best. Third person games like Mass Effect are best played in cinema or immersive screen mode. Full VR mode is primarily meant for first person games.

Technically you can also play third person games in Full VR mode, but that rarely is a good experience due to how third person cameras work. For Full VR mode games also need to have their field of view matched to the headset. Please check the Essential Hints Guide to learn more about that.

For a selection of games that allow you to hop right into FullVR without any configuration check this post: Good Full VR Games for Beginners.

I havent played Mass Effect with VorpX yet, but not every game can be used for FULL VR mode. This is why VorpX has its cinema modes to still get most immersion out of a game. IF Mass Effect “sticks to your face” and you wont have the full impression like in many of the Call of Duty games for example, by doing the following will give you almost the same VR experience then in Full VR. Switch over to Cinema Mode, turn OFF Lounge or whatever you have chosen there, (switch to “None”), then pull the Screen very close to you by lowering “Screen size” or “Screen Distance” it is called i beleive.
Besides you have a better image quality this way you can reach menues better then in FULL VR Mode sometimes without using “edgepeek” too much.

    Hi guys,

I literally just got vorpx and tried to run MassEffect 1&2 and have the same problem with both: only cinema mode works (using oculus rift). When I switch to full VR I still have a flat pane in front of me and the whole pane moves in sync with my head movement. So when I turn my head left- the view stays centered and the whole screen moves left with me. This reminds me when I start other VR games before the game is fully loaded it behaves like this. What am I doing wrong?

I’ve been stereoscopic gaming for nearly a decade now, mostly on a 720p DLP in frame-packing mode (TriDef) but more recently moved to a 1080p display (so using top/bottom, mostly through TriDef as well). Since I already played in 3D I didn’t feel the need to hop into VR right away. Now that a wide-fov HDM is available at a reasonable price (Pimax 5k) I plan to hop on the VR bandwagon, and will definitely be using vorpX since the vast majority of my games are not VR titles.

My primary tools are TriDef (now defunct) and SuperDepth 3D for games which either don’t work in TriDef (few) or for which performance through TriDef just isn’t satisfactory, or for a handful of other reasons. (Unfortunately ReShade disables access to the depth-buffer during online play, so that makes SuperDepth 3D unusable in games like Fallout 76. We need to convince Crossire to allow this to work.) As such, I’m relatively familiar with tweaking 3D profile settings for games etc.

Anyone here make a similar transition and have advice to give as to what problems to watch out for? I’m just looking for some general advice / tips if anyone wants to share.

I mostly play character-and/or-world-driven RPGs (Dragon Age Origins = my favorite game of all time) and Racing SIMs with a dedicated racing seat and FFB equipment (T500) (Assetto Corsa = my current go-to). In fact, I’ll almost certainly want to go back and play all of my long-time favorites again as soon as I get the rig working properly: Dragon Age series, Mass Effect series, Fallout 3 and newer, etc. As such I imagine that I’ll largely be using an HMD with traditional controls (I have a Nostromo, so I can effectively keyboard & mouse without having to use the regular keyboard itself). How hard has it been adjusting to use of traditional controls when you can’t see them? Or does vorpX do such a good job of mapping VR controllers that even for games like Dragon Age Origins I should just bite-the-bullet and adapt?

And how are the vorpX profiles? If I see that a game is supported does this mean the profiles are excellent, or are there issues like the frequent lighting/shadow depth problems TriDef had, that have to be discovered and worked-around?

Hi Ralf, I have written earlier but no answer yet. Big thank you for this program.

All games work perfectly Witcher3, Mass Effect’s and other.

But I won’t play in HL2,ep1,ep2, black mesa source and I read on the forum what other people can play in it but not me. What is my problem?

Vorpx is injected and on the monitor display – I see logo Vorpx but in Oculus headset I see only logo HL2 and text “loading”. Cursor follow by my headset.

I use a cloud setting. Trying with steam VR and without – with steam and no steam – hl2 update, hl2 classic, ep1, ep2, black mesa – result only one – “loading” text and game logo in the white room in Oculus headset.

Windowed, fullscreen, 4:3, 16:9 and other resolution… no matter.

Windows 7 x64. Oculus Rift CV1. Last update for Oculus and Vorpx.

Please help me if you can, I’m waiting for your answer. Thank you, regards.

Hello everyone, I bought VORPX and first of all I tried to launch HL2 – the game plays on the screen in the window, and the cursor tracks the head tracking, but the white room with the HL2 banner and the loading message is hanging in OKULUS …

I was upset and thought it wasn’t working – launched mass effect 3 – everything works fine – a lot of settings, etc. from the first click.

This is cool but all my life I wanted to play HL2 through oculus rift, help to figure out what could be the problem, may need to download an older version of hl2 without steam, because I have a steam and it does’t work, or will you release a fix? please VORPX team, help run HL2.

    Thank you.

Finding it a bit weird that no one else is reporting these shimmery hazy characters, and sometimes foliage too. It’s quite distracting. I tried with G3D set to 1.0 strength as well, not the usual 1.3 I normally use.
Anyone else notice this, or have a fix?

often I find myself having to use the z-normal instead of the g3d (I have a 1060 gtx): for example in mass effect andromeda, to have a good fluidity, I’m using the z-normal ..

but I have not yet understood the difference between z-normal and z-adaptive: the z-adaptive seems to me identical to the z-normal, except that the view is not perfectly in focus..

what is the difference? maybe i must set something for z-adaptive, to see all clear…

I have played Mass Effect with a 4k texture mod and holy shit is was awesome to be back in space!!
But I wanted to try out other third person games, so i tried Dark Souls 2… Now I have not played anything else in the last 3 weeks. DS 2 rocks!!! So i bought the hole series :)
But I didnt like the cinema mode for both games, so i tried to make it full vr mode with some tweaks and it works perfect!!! :)

A couple of these games are deep discount on Origin now through Jan29th. Mass Effect Andromeda and Star Wars Battlefront 2 are each under $5.

Same goes for Dragon Age Inquisition, Titanfall 2, and most of the Battlefield games

Is there a new profile for Titanfall 2? The original was pretty bad–no depth at all between your gun and the background, for instance–if this got fixed I’d be psyched to play it.

    The only missing now (for me) is dishonored 2 ;

Good timing for profile updates, thanks Ralf. Finally off work, time to play 😁

@ RJK: official Frostbite profiles with G3D (vorpX 19.1.0): Battlefield 3/4, SW:Battlefront II (2017), Need for Speed Rivals, Mass Effect Andromeda.

The rest of the official Frostbite profiles will follow shortly.

BTW: If you don’t want to risk any of your profiles becoming incompatible for other users, I strongly urge you to update to 19.1.0. While great care is taken to ensure profile backwards compatibility, I can’t guarantee it 100% this time unfortunately. The vast majority will still work fine, but A LOT has changed behind the scenes. So there might be a few edge cases where 19.1.0 behaves differently with older profiles.
