RalfKeymasterJust a heads-up that the feature has to be enabled on a game-to-game basis since it rquires some game specific settings. It doesn’t work automagically. Currently it’s enabled for the following games: Half-Life 2 (+episodes), Portal 2, Black Mesa Source, Titanfall 2, Fallout 4, Crysis, Skyrim Special Edition, Aliens: Colonial Marines.

lipplogParticipantClean install. No mods.
If by Factory Reset you mean Restore Game Settings, yes, I restored the game settings for Portal 2 and ran the game. No head tracking and scans fail. Then I tried importing the official VorpX profile from the cloud and ran the game again. Still no head tracking, and Direct VR scans still fail no matter how much I moved around. Then I tried importing different user profiles. Some of them gave me head tracking right away, but still required a scan to correct distortion. The result of which was always field of view fail and the loss of head tracking.
Would sending you data files help figure out what’s wrong?

RalfKeymasterIn Portal 2 you shouldn‘t even have to run the scanner, the profile comes with an updated cache for the latest Portal 2 version, it should just work normally. Please try a full factory reset in the config app. If you continue to have this problem afterwards, switch either to mouse and keyboard or VR controllers in mouse/kB mode. Under normal circumstances the gamepad should work though, don‘t recall to ever have heard of this issue before TBH.
If you happen to have any mods installed for the game, please also check whether the issue occurs without.
Aliens: Will look into that. I‘m not 100% sure, but IIRC shadows can be disabled in the game‘s graphics options.

MaichevskyParticipantI am talking about the X-axis, not the Y-axis.
So you can’t turn, which isn’t very handy :)Also I have weird flickering now in Portal 2. Not the kind of flickering from not using a 4:3 resolution (which I am using), another kind off flickering.
And with Alien Marines the shadows don’t turn off anymore (using the option in the VorpX menu). Resulting in flickering shadows everywhere.

MaichevskyParticipantAfter the update, with Portal 2 the right xbox-controller stick X-axis doesn’t work anymore, after performing DirectVR scan

in forum Game Hints and Settings
forlaunchcastParticipantI just got Nier Automata edition on Xbox Game Pass and upon launching it after vorpx appears to hook, the game shuts down immediately. Using Reverb 1. Have tried getting it to work on a pre-WMR portal open and on a post-WMR portal open basis.
I know Nier Automata is a supported game, but am wondering:
1) The Xbox Game Pass version is actually “Nier Automata BECOME AS GODS edition” so maybe this isn’t technically supported.
2) While I have gotten Xbox Game Pass games to work in the past, maybe they have issues with the new vorpx version. Thanks for any intel as I was looking forward to playing this in vorpx.

SmoilsParticipantstrange if its just a mod using same exe as portal 2 vanilla, but as a workaround you can just hide weapon completely through console commands, thats what I did last time playing portal 2 vanilla in vorpx since weapon looks wrong being too close.

RalfKeymaster@ sergeant82nd:
Provided your issue is the same Windows Mixed Reality related one that I experience here, you should be able to work around it by launching the game without the Mixed Reality Portal open. It will launch when vorpX initializes the headset.
Since the issue also occurs without vorpX running, I’m not sure whether another solution will be possible at all, but either way launching the game without the WMR Portal being open should do the trick.

RalfKeymaster@ sergeant82nd : What headset do you have? The issue I can replicate here only occurs with WMR headsets. As soon as the WMR portal is running, the game has difficulties to get into foreground for some reason. This happens even without vorpX running. No quick fix for that unfortunately, requires further investigation. With other headsets AC:Odyssey and AC:Valhalla hook normally here.
@ steph12 : There still is the issue with vorpX losing access to the depth information occasionally. There was so much other stuff in this release that I didn’t have enough time to dive further into this very game specific issue. It’s still on the list though. There is a user profile in the cloud, judging from its description it has the very same issue though.

rustyshacklefordParticipant@Ralf I’m actually playing the Portal 2 mod called Portal Reloaded. When I launch the base game no issues, but the mod requires a directvr scan to get the fov right i guess.

RalfKeymaster@ rusty:
Try to reset the profile to default in the config app. If you played the game before with vorpX, the settings might not have been fully updated with everything the weapon hide feature needs. Also please don’t change any settings that affect the game FOV (e.g. the ImageZoom value). The default is right anyway.
On a sidenote: odd that you have to run the scanner at all. For Portal 2 the scan results are fully cacheable, and the profile comes with an updated cache for the latest game version (until the next game update makes a re-scan nevessary). Try to delete the ‘C:\ProgramData\Animation Labs\vorpX\Cache\dvr’ folder, maybe vorpX couldn’t replace an older cache file or something.

rustyshacklefordParticipant@Ralf Playing Portal 2. Weapon hiding stops working after I run the directvr scan.
Apr 19, 2021 at 12:46pm #201959
RalfKeymasterBelow is the list list of games that this feature will be enabled for in vorpX 21.2.0 (release tomorrow).
Tweakable options include the feature mode (off/auto hide/size and position only/always hidden), the auto hide timeout, the position of the weapon in 3d space, and weapon FOV and 3D-Strength for tweaking its size. Shouldn’t really be necessary to tweak anything though. Each profile has carefully chosen individual defaults that work just fine.
Games for the first release:
– Half-Life 2 (+episodes)
– Portal 2
– Black Mesa Source
– Titanfall 2
– Fallout 4
– Crysis
– Skyrim Special Edition
– Aliens: Colonial MarinesMore games will follow shortly, I’m fairly confident that adding the feature will be possible for about 4 out of 5 potential candidates, i.e. first person G3D games.
Note that in this first release there is no UI for changing gamepad/key assignments, will also follow shortly. For the time being make sure to use a game’s default bindings, otherwise vorpX might not be able to reliably detect when the weapon is supposed to be shown/hidden under all circumstances.
