    Hello,
I’m new to Rift DK2 and how to drive it

so far I did not encounter any Vorpx problem with these games:

    Mirror’s Edge
    Call Of Prypiat
    Dishonored
    Arma series
    Metro Redux
    Outlast
    Thief2014

while (settings to default and monitor to Dk2):

    – Mass Effect 3 won’t activate the DK2
    – Portal 2 crashes to desktop as soon as it reaches the main interface, – although activating the DK2
    – Skyrim won’t activate the Dk2 and crashes to desktop

I’ve tried to follow the troubleshooting section suggestions, with no results

    any hints?

    thanks

I am running steam portal 1 on windows 7. I could not get it to boot straight to dk2. With display set to dk2 extended desktop, tell vorpx to use windows setting for monitor selection. Put portal desktop icon in toward the middle of screen off to one side. With vorpx turned on, go to your windows display settings and switch the dk2 to primary monitor. Now on dk2 desktop click portal icon to start. This works for me, but it is hard to see to switch back to your main monitor when you are done playing. Stretching the start menu taller can make it visible in the rift when set to primary, helps to see to click display setting tab when done with game.
Make sure to load game first on main monitor and switch resolution to 1920X1080, fullscreen. If this is not already set before attempting to start game you will have many more issues. I would also recommend in game graphics settings maxing the fov setting, turning on motion blur (seems to help with motion sickness for me). Lastly turn on gamepad control ingame and disable vorpx gamepad control. Ingame controller setup is not conflicting with head tracking for me.
    Hope this helps.

Whenever i start up a game i start it up through the oculus being the main screen and is
    A) really hard to see the desktop icons
    B) almost impossible to read anything
but when i set it up as a seperate second screen it doestn let me put my games in that window for some reason.
but the main problem ive been having is that whenever i start up a game it splits into a screen that doesnt line up (like i cant see the center of the screen even on the desktop) and the motion tracking doesnt work.
If someone could tell me how to fix this that would be awesome
the games ive tried so far
Skyrim (drums sound once then dont go off anymore)
portal( cant see the center of the screen)
dishonored(cant see the center of the screen and pops up in windowed mode
crysis (screens arent facing each other)

    Thanks Ralph,

It turns out Portal 2 has a command line style menu that I found by randomly pressing keyboard buttons after finding a youtube DK1 vid – turns out it was “o”.

After some messing with several settings I got it pretty well sorted out.
Appreciate the personal support you throw in.

VorpX really makes the DK2 worthwhile. Fallout 3 and Bioshock Infinite are absolutely amazing in the Rift.
    Great job!

So when I go to play either Miasmata or Mirrors Edge from steam, with vorpx on they crash. This seems to happen with any setup in the general vorpx configuration and works fine without vorpx on. I have the DK2 and it works alright with other games like portal and oblivion. Can anyone give me a hint as to how to fix this? Thanks.

Portal 2 has a FOV slider in it’s option menu IIRC. If setting that to its highest value isn’t enough, you can use the “3D FOV Enhancement”, another aspect ratio mode or Image Scale (both on the display page of the vorpX ingame menu) for the rest.

The Essential Game Hints in the vorpX help give an overview regarding the various strategies to deal with FOV.

I was mostly interested in buying VorpX for world of warcraft (portal 2 assassins creed 2 also) but I don’t quite understand what it means that its “Z-Buffer 3D” only and not “natural”.

How do I setup Portal 2 / VorpX settings?
The FOV is awful and I can’t adjust it no matter what I try in both VorpX and Portal’s settings.
Can’t see the portal gun at all, and everything is way to close.
    As – is it’s unplayable.

    yes please thank you.

Even a short list of games as I have depleted all the ones that work with vorpx.

I have said this before in another thread but it wasn’t answered, portal 1 does not inject for me, and its on the official support list, so maybe you can remove itfrom the list or use another profile.

I have no anti virus software, and I closed out of Skype, yet the problem persists. Also Portal 2 crashes upon launching.

Can’t seem to get this game to inject with vorpx at all, tried changing exe names but none of that worked.

    anyone got any tips?

Does anyone have settings for Black Mesa, Portal 1 and 2. When I play BM I have tried adjusting all the different view settings but cannot get it to look like the three Oculus games that display correctly (A for awesome, HL2 and Alien Isolation).

At fov more than 82-90 its almost there but I can see the bottom edges of the oculus screen.

I just tried vorpx out with Space Engineers, and while it did create a certain amount of immersion, it’s essentially unplayable since you cannot see any of the HUD/controls and the graphics seem a bit messed up (I found elsewhere someone posted that shadows weren’t displaying correctly and that seems to be what I am experiencing as well).

Moving on to portal, vorpx doesn’t seem to do anything. Portal is listed as a supported game, what do I have to do to realize this support?
