In reply to: Can't get games to work
mattliParticipantHm. Sometimes the games won’t even start, and other-times they will. Like it will say GTA V exe can’t be found, or Metro 2033 wont open, with an unknown error in steam. But as soon as I close Vorpx, they work. Very weird stuff.
I un-installed Skype, but was a no-go.

broksampsonParticipantHad those glasses and a supported monitor for stereo 3D. It worked on every game in my steam library where there was two slightly different views of the same screen alternating. How’d they do it? I don’t think every last one of those games went back and made support for their game to work this way. Some of the same games in my library I’d wish could have 3D on vorpx (I’m a big fan of your work ralf). I preordered a vive because the tech is better and after the 20 plus games, the other 80-100 due to drop the rest of 2016, the endless co-op building of things and worlds of lovely modbox , I’d like to experience soma, and outlast etc in vr 3D.

miremareParticipantHi there, bought Vorpx yesterday and can’t get it to work on any games. The desktop viewer works perfect.
Windows 10, GTX 970, i5 4670K. All Oculus stuff works fine. I’ve tried creating Vorpx specific desktop shortcuts but still no joy, the games just run on the monitor as usual. I’ve been trying the Steam version of Skyrim primarily, but also have plenty other games to try.
I’ve uninstalled Skype and 3DVision, can’t think what else could be causing the issue. Hope somebody can provide me with a pointer.
Thanks in advance.

ElectryicParticipantCan you possibly re-iterate how to assign a profile? I renamed Unreal Tournament to the borderlands presequel .exe but although it started I am still not getting the option to turn on 3D. I’m not so worried about head tracking would just like the option for 3D if possible.
Let me guess your using the steam version. Mr. DoucheBag iankemp didn’t tell anyone up front that all these games he’s talking about are the dvd versions and do not run through steam.
Actually my copy of UT2007 is one of the last games I bought on disc. Its not on Steam. It starts up in vorpX (using pre-sequel rename) but there is still no option for 3D. Any other advice would be appreciated!

The only d bag around here right now is you VRISHERE80. Seriously either your a drug addict crack head, or you like 12. Believe it or not dumb ass but millions upon millions of physical copies have been sold you giant jack ass. Ralph I’m sorry but this VRISHERE80 jack nut is awful. His weird posts about diamonds like he has been getting into the dust off…
Any way I for one thank Kemp for testing these out and reporting back. It’s all good info for people looking so get off the internet if people being helpful twists your panties. Seriously what a giant ass hat VRISHERE80 is.. damn..

iankempParticipantCome on, fullquote and a new thread to flame me…
I didn’t say, that I use a steam version of MoH. For more comfort I recommended a new profile and named the exe and profiles that worked for me.
Here’s a workaround with steam
1 make a copy of the original exe, leave original.exe untouched
2 rename the copied exe
3 In the Steam panel,
[Games] -> [Add a Non-Steam Game to My Library …]
[Browse…]
Go to location of renamed.exe –> [Open]
[Add Selected Programs]
4 it will now be shown in your steam game library.
5 start new_game_name from your steam game library, or try to start the exe directly
No more steam error message. But I don’t now if it works with MoH Steam Version.
And again, this thread is a recommendation for new profiles of games with good g3d and working easily with non-steam versions. Its not my fault, when steam protects the gamefiles.

VRISHERE80BlockedOkay, I enjoyed G3D games with VorpX alot, so I look at Unreal 3 Engine FPS, which are not supported yet and try them with renamed game exe. Here are my results and begging to Ralf to make them supported because of problems with steam and FOV, when renaming.
My FOV recommendations with them: The official recommendation is 120 FOV at 1920×1080 Pixel 1:1 Distance Zoom 1.00
With that settings you have mostly a good perspective, but massive overhead to the sides and blurry image, because you can see only a third of the picture. So I try to “calibrate” it with 90 FOV and 1600×1200 / 4:3 resolution.
90 FOV: Distance Zoom 0.56
or
95 FOV: Distance Zoom 0.60
This looks the same than 120 FOV at 1.00 Zoom, but without overhead and a much clearer graphic (more ppi).
Renaming: There are a couple of UE3 Profiles with different features. I tested with BorderlandsPreSequel.exe and ADVGame-Win32-Shipping.exe (Deadfall)
Both offer positional headtracking. Now the games:
Bulletstorm (ShippingPC-StormGame.exe)

Ingame graphic settings I set shadows and Post Processing to low.
Resolution to 1920×1080 (4:3 gives black bars)
To set FOV use this Tool, because of crypted inis:
http://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/download/580-bulletstorm-ini-editor/
to edit the ini’s:
FOV
1. Go to %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Bulletstorm\StormGame\Config\ StormCamera.ini
2. Change to the desired FOV.Framerate
1. Edit %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Bulletstorm\StormGame\Config\StormEngine.ini
2. Change MaxSmoothedFrameRate to a higher cap; alternately, remove the frame rate cap entirely by setting bSmoothFrameRate to false.Mouse Smoothing (for proper Headtracking)
1. Edit %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Bulletstorm\StormGame\Config\StormInput.ini
2. Find bEnableMouseSmoothing and to ‘false’ to disable mouse smoothing. You also need to calibrate Headtracking manually per VorpX Menu: Fokus something in “real life” and slowly shake your head left and right and notice how it stays in your view. Then do the same ingame and edit the HeadTracking value.
My G3D rating: 8/10
very little lightning issues, some auto head movement when walking and fast gameplay makes it a little nauseous. Iron Sight you need to aim between the dots, its playable. Great 3D-Effekt.
Nearly the same settings with Bulletstorm ini editor with:
Alien Rage Unlimited (ShippingPC-AFEARGame.exe)

This game has some strange light sources in G3D, so I only recommend Z3D.
Homefront (HOMEFRONT.exe)

The FOV settings ingame only works for Multiplayer, not the Campaign (only in first mission). There is a Homefront FOV Changer: http://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/download/487-homefront-fov-changer/
But that only works with the HOMEFRONT.exe, so we need a profile for that.G3D, positional-tracking works (turn of DX11 ingame, restart), but many issues especially with shadows. So turn down shadows ingame, Post Processing and turn off frame limit and mouse smoothing in the game menus. Weapon sights are good playable with red dot weapons. Easier for the eye with Z3D.
My G3D rating 6/10. Too many graphical problems with g3d, but playable. +1 with the FOV changer.
Medal of Honor (2010) (moh.exe)

The Campaign is UE3 Engine, so works great (Multiplayer is Frostbite). Documents\EA Games\Medal of Honor\Config\MOHAEngine.ini
bSmoothFrameRate=false
MOHAInput.ini
bEnableMouseSmoothing=false
The G3D looks amazing with very little lightning issues, but overall nearly perfect, but…
The FOV is 55. Again there is a FOV-Changer for the original.exe:
http://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/download/389-medal-of-honor-2010-fov-changer/
So… VorpX specific profile needed.
G3D rating: 9.5/10 possible if getting FOV to a playable viewSantum 2 (SanctumGame-Win32-Shipping.exe)

Wow, that was a surprise. It’s a steam only game, so you can’t rename it so easily, but after I get it to work with the Deadfall profile (ADVGame-Win32-Shipping.exe), the game works flawlessly in G3D, with all graphic options maxed out, even shadows and lightning stuff and keeps a clean graphical image. Even FOV adjustable in the menus. Easy setup, looks great, very nice to play in VR.
\Documents\My Games\Sanctum2\SanctumGame\Config
SanctumEngine.ini
bSmoothFrameRate=false
SanctumInput.ini
bEnableMouseSmoothing=falseG3D-rating 10/10
Singularity (Singularity.exe)

Looks amazing in G3D, but yeah, bad FOV…
Needs Flawless Widescreen or Widescreen Fixer Tool to fix FOV. So not with renamed exe.
G3D-rating 10/10 (with better FOV)Section 8 Prejudice (S9-Win32-F.exe)

Untested, because it has a launcher and can’t rename the game.exe
FOV settings per ini:
http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Section_8:_Prejudice#Field_of_view_.28FOV.29
bSmoothFrameRate & bEnableMouseSmoothing like usual.Rainbow Six Vegas 2 (R6Vegas2_Game.exe)

Very narrow FOV and not changeable, enjoyable in a cinema view setting. Now the UE3 Engine begins to look old and outdated
Maybe it helps to fiddle around with Widescreen Fixer:
https://www.widescreenfixer.org/
Very good G3D Effekt.@Ralf: All the above called exe just need a copy/paste UE3-profile.
How the heck do you get medal of honor to work it just fails to start in steam when i rename it. I’m getting so sick and tired of this bs

iankempParticipantSteam version v1.08 retail here, no problems. Maybe try the peak key or VorpX ingame menu. In some games screen goes black when the VorpX view is too close. Also shift + mousewheel to zoom out.
VirualParticipant@dodossssssssss The HDK 1.3 has some issues but by the sounds of it, the next version will fix some of the problems. Since oculus’s price and hardware requirements are both pretty high and I have no doubt that the Vive will be about the same if not more, so the only option left for most people is the HDK.
HDK and OSVR is kind of like the oculus dk1 in terms of software. Everything is buggy, not a whole lot of support or games to play. But it gets better every few weeks. 1 day ago the SteamVR plugin got some updates, so I need to find time to setup and give it a go with Elite Dangerous (I like this game but since it has no story I kinda stopped playing it). This is a big goal for OSVR since it doesn’t look like there is a big push to support OSVR directly in gaming, so if they can tap into the SteamVR game library it’ll give the platform a chance. Steam/OpenVR and OSVR is basicly the same thing, they just need to communicate with eacother perfectly. Hopefully VOrpX or Vireio Perception will support SteamVR or OSVR directly soon, then the HDK will be able to play a good amount of games.
Is the HDK worth it since I bought it? Well, I would probably say no since its been sitting in its box for the last 6 weeks. The barn door effect bothers me like crazy but 1.4 fixes this by putting a film that diffuses it away. So yey. The foam around the mask isn’t thick enough so when I adjust the lenses they dig into the bridge of my nose which hurts, but razer said they’re gonna make different sizes to make it more comfortable for people to wear. Since its helt in place by velcro, some people found other foam and just hacked it on to improve it. This might be another 1.4 feature. The only other issues is the lenses fog up which kind of annoying but someone said if you cover the nose hole in the headset with cardboard it stops that from happening. Also, this is a dev unit so don’t expect this to be user friendly. You might have some issues here and there that you’ll need to work out.
I would say wait for 1.4 to be released. Don’t know when that will be though. If you really really gotta have some vr then get 1.3 and just be prepared to fork over a bit more money to buy the 1.4 upgrades. Its kinda nice that we can upgrade the vr headset but at the same time, it means razer doesn’t have to work to get it perfect on the first try so they can continue to make money on upgrades that should of been there sooner, like the stupid film and thicker headset foam. Its like having game content removed on purpose then sold as DLC.
dodossssssssssParticipant@Virual (I know this is a bit old but i’m salty about oculus price and have been looking at OSVR as an alternative as dk2 prices on ebay have jumped) as far as steam VR goes, I am pretty sure there should be a plugin to use the OSVR on it, vorpx shouldn’t need to support steamvr because it seems as if they are a similar concept (from what I can find currently), turning games released prior to vr into vr supporting games. I have heard that the OSVR plugin (at least on elite dangerous) is kinda crummy and doesn’t really work. If you can correct any of these misconceptions now that you have the OSVR that would be nice, also, has it been worth the buy so far? It looks really appealing at the $300 price point but seems like it lacks any games to play on it. Thanks.

RalfKeymasterNot hooking: Please check for the “usual” things in the trouble shooting guide regarding conflicts with vorpX: virus scanner, GPU/CPU utilities, programs that can show notifications in games, Steam/Origin/Uplay overlay etc.
Also try running vorpX as admin (or not as admin if you currently do).
Settings path: The optimizer profile contains a wrong .ini path, sorry. Please adjust the FOV ingame for now or change the field of view manually in [Documents]\STAR WARS Battlefront\ProfileOptions_profile

VirualParticipant@Ralf, Looks like OSVR specific headsets are coming out. In the latest interview with tested they said that the HDK is a reference model and they already have a few people taking the design and creating their own spin on the headset and rebranding it. So there will be consumer-ish version of the HDK.
I really hope for osvr support soon. I have the HDK 1.3 and there isn’t much to use it with. Since razer announced that you guys were supporting them back around may of 2015, i hope that by the time the hdk was available to the public that there will be some beta version of vorpx that would work.
I don’t see a downside to supporting osvr, it already has oculus support. Then there’s the steamVR plugin for osvr, so SteamVR games will work through OSVR as well. So I really hope you reconsider making a push for OSVR to work in vorpx. At the price range of oculus and the vive, i’ll be sticking with my HDK for a long while.
The interview I mentioned.
Jan 10, 2016 at 11:19am #96252
moarveerParticipantHTC Vive price is a moving target. It could be “cheap” that is, nearly the same price of CV1, since HTC manufactures themselves all components, it doesn’t have the expensive fabric thing, screens won’t probably be samsung amoled so cheaper, lighthouse is really cheap to manufacture compared to oculus cam, no integrated headphones, it doesn’t include extras like games, xb1 controller or carrying case. HTC has great distribution centers worldwide so even if it was more expensive, it could be cheaper for non-US customers compared to $800-1000 Oculus if they remove import taxes.
On the other hand, HTC needs to make money on hardware and cannot subsidize the price, and controllers and chaperone camera add to the price. And then there’s the pure marketing factor: even if they can manufacture Vive a lot cheaper, why sell it at lower price when they are the more complete solution? However, Oculus will recieve Touch in H2 and possibly full room VR, will they prefer to get more market share early on or go for the quick buck from early adopters?
Then there’s the Valve factor, which is completely unknown. Do they help subsidize the product to help selling their own Steam Machines and Steam platform for VR? We don’t know if they are really part of the hardware production at any level or not.
Short answer: who knows.

Possible Conflict detected. Vorpx may not work correctly
Please rename/ remove the bellow files:C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4\d3d11.dll
This is basically happening with all games, as there seems to be a issue with the .dll
Also some games like star wars battlefront get the “settings path not found” error. I hope there is something obvious I am missing… as I was hopping since there um charging for this that it would work right out the gate and less like some hack some one put together on reddit..
