Hi luka2099, i know that. So i have ask in the SC forum and … the game is not supportet anymore (AntiCheat System comes in 3.15.1) so i cant use the software … nice! NOT :(

So i gues, vorpX has to remove SC form they list of supportet games :(

The other games i will try on the weekend. So i hope i can run one game.

Yeah, I’m going to have to ask you to elaborate on this.

Lol. I use the valve index hmd and did not like the uncomfortable pressure points and weight that happen inevitably with long sessions of gaming, so I developed a custom mod to alleviate these. I use this mod for seated 3d theatre mode in vorpx(immersive mode could work as well) or any other seated vr compatible game or app.

I use a studioform creative counter balance, with comfort head strap and a series of bungee cords small to large. Small end connected to the top strap of the hmd, large end connected to a hook in the ceiling. I tie knots in the bungee cords to control the height. I position the hook on the hmd top strap, forward or backward, to control the tilt(up or down).

I ended up with complete 180 degree horizontal weightless movement from side to side. Up and down movement are limited but if the hmd is on loosely, I can move my head inside to focus the sweet spot anywhere on screen. I actually removed the head gasket completely and moved the lenses as close as possible to my eyes, for ultra clarity and better sweet spot.

Looks a little ridiculous, but the comfort gained for long vr sessions is worth it for me.

You are very welcome, I recently done the mission where Arthur & Lenny get drunk at the saloon in Valentine, it is very cool & trippy in VR with the room going all bendy & warped as you get drunk, i walked in on Lenny getting it on with female Lenny, escaped the law & am now taking a slow walk back to Valentine where my horse Midknight is.

In the flat version of the game i would have just run there as fast as possible but in VR it is so immersive that sometimes i just can’t help but take a slow walk through the world.

The next part of this post contained inside the —‘s is my attempt to describe how even a simple slow walk to Valentine is in VR to try to help people get a sense of what it is like:

I’m walking down a dirt road surrounded by forest, birds crowing in my right ear, chirping in my left, the buzz of some flying insect buzzing around my head, crunching footsteps, a steam train chugging along somewhere in the distance & the low music track playing behind it all,

a couple of buffalo & deer running over the hills up ahead, horses coming down the road, guy being taken to jail in a caged wagon by two lawmen, “stay back from the wagon sir, we’re transporting a fugitive” one of them says as they ride on by, i let them be as i’m enjoying my walk,

i notice the bright coloured plants scattered here & there, reds, purples, yellows, whites, i hear a weird moaning sound to my right, i turn & see an American bison up the hill a bit, i get out the binoculars for a better view, lots of muscle on that (animals are much bigger in VR, sense of scale is great), guy rides right in front of my view & says something about me not being right in the head, i give him a polite greeting & compliment him on his nice looking horse, he goes on his way, i continue walking,

i scare a bird out of the long grass just to my left which makes me jump as it takes flight, no music now just the buzzing of insects, the chirping of birds & the crunching of footsteps, i see smoke to the right in the distance, not going there, spot a group of 5 deer having a munch not too far away, 1 of the deer looks me right in the binoculars as i am looking at them with eyes that seem to say ‘what you looking at?’, i continue on-wards,
two guys on horses, one pulls out a rifle & says something as they go by, i resist the urge to shoot him in the face & continue, i come to a crossroad with a wooden sign, i follow the arrow pointing to Valentine, i see a lonely dead looking tree a little past the crossroad, spooky looking,

i spot a berry bush, what could they be, red raspberry, yummy, pick a couple of nearby yarrow too then continue, train track just to the left of the road, rocky hills in the distance, open grassland with some rocky hills to the right, couple of deer watching me for any sign that i’m a threat, they turn & slowly amble away, snowy covered mountains coming into view, path splits with a wooden sign pointing toward Valentine, i obey the sign,

path crosses over the train tracks, man rides by moaning about something, wagon rides by, two guys out front & two guys inside, a beautiful white & a black horse doing the work of pulling them, more traffic now, getting closer to Valentine,

spot a crow on a rock, use binoculars for a good view, cool colour, mix of black & blue, flies off, path crosses back over the tracks, can clearly see Valentine now, hear an owl, check my platinum pocket watch, 16:05, guy on horse says”a whole lotta ugly business here” as he rides past some blood & human body parts,

the blood trail leads down a little slope past a tree to where there is part of a human corpse suspended from beneath the rail bridge, writing on the rocks near the corpse reads “Look on my works”, there is a human head stuck to a wooden pillar of the rail bridge by knife with something in its mouth, i take it out, the head falls to the ground, part of a map, i go back up the slope & continue toward Valentine,

i cross the tracks into Valentine, i can hear a telephone ringing coming from inside the train station, can almost smell the sheep, 2 guys having a smoke say hello as i walk by,
guy leaning against a post says “that queasy feeling you been having is cause there is so many O’Driscols about”, think i’m gonna punch this guy, “i’ve only gotta click my fingers & this town will string you up & call it justice” he says, he walks towards me saying “you want me to set you straight”, he pushes me, i say “look at you, a coward trying to play it tough,” “make yourself scarce” he says, i punch him in the face, knock him down, he gets up “damn it to hell” he whinges as he pushes me again, we trade several blows, i see his face getting bloodier up as i connect with punch after punch, i knock him down, he gets up, he knocks me down, i get up, we continue beating on each other, i land a left hook that knocks him out cold,

getting darker now, i check the time, 20:35, sound of a steam train whistle blowing, a couple of horses hitched & people standing, sitting, walking, chatting as i walk by houses that are lit up with flickering light from their various sources, Keane’s saloon door is open, tempting me to go in for a drink but no! i must be reunited with my Midknight (word of warning, you can become attached to your horse in VR, they are just so fn cool looking),
i turn onto the main street, the newspaper boy still trying to sell his paper at this time, the sheriff standing having a smoke in front of his office, i look further down the road & there she is, my Midknight, i sprint towards her as people come out of the saloon & others try to enter which ends up making one poor fella fall down the stairs & get covered in mud, “damn” he says as he gets up, a drunk guy gets on his horse as he says the place is full of cheats which his mate on another horse agrees with as they ride away, i watch the guy who fell down the stairs walk away & round the corner at the end of the street, walking as if he had defecated in his drawers,

i turn around, & look at my magnificent Midknight, about 2-3 heads higher than me, big beautiful beast, i pat her then go into the saloon for a drink to celebrate, lots of people in here, piano music playing a nice happy fast tune, barman talks about some lowlifes & about someone being pushed, maybe the guy that fell down the stairs, i order a beer & have a swig while looking at the pictures behind the bar,

i finish my beer then head outside & jump on Midknight & hitch her just over the road at the hotel as i need a bath & a room for some sleep, guy behind the desk remembers me from when i saved Karen, doesn’t want trouble, i pay for a bath, walking down the hall to the bath i hear some guy moaning, must be that guy who i walked in on sitting on the toilet when i was here before, poor guys pipes must be clogged,

got some help with my bath from a nice woman, told her i used to share baths with my dog copper, feeling nice & clean, i pay for a room, next door to the guy with the clogged pipes, & i get some sleep.

I’m not a great story teller by any stretch of the imagination but i hope i have managed to give a sense of just how immersive even something as simple as a slow walk back to Valentine can be in VR.

Info about what i’m using to play it: AMD Ryzen 3600 & RX 5700 XT using Oculus Rift S, my graphics settings i put to the highest resolution i can go to which is 1920 x 1080 & put the resolution scale as high as i could go without losing too much fps, TAA on high & TAA sharpness really high on the slide bar, for other settings i just put the main setting on ultra then lowered them one by one till i found my optimal performance + graphics.

Agreed that this type of thing is absurd. First, people who really want to cheat will always find their ways around it. All this type of thing does is make life difficult for persons who are legitimately trying to make their games better.

There is also a tremendous level of hypocrisy as the playing-field is inherently uneven anyway. Ask them if having better hardware and software is ‘cheating’ in their eyes, and then suggest that they demand that all players have exactly the same hardware and software setup on every machine. “What, your rig has a 5% faster CPU? Cheating! Newer GPU? Cheating! Keyboard and Mouse controls? Cheating! Good keyboard vs. bad keyboard? Cheating!”

In the end, I’m convinced these companies don’t really give two-flying-squirrels about actually having an even competition, because that’s nearly impossible. Look at how the racing-sim companies like Polyphony Digital run their ‘become a real racer’ competition. 100% identical hardware and software for every competitor. No, I think most studios just want to cover-their-bums; implement this type of thing and they can say “look, we use xyz Anti-Cheat, so we are doing our best to prevent cheating.”

I’m really enjoying using VorpX for playing on my 110″ projector setup — currently blown away by how good Dirt Rally 2.0 looks just using ‘Z-Normal’ 3D (geometry doesn’t seem to work for this game, but it’s fine).

Anywho, I’m finding it aggravating at this point to keep seeing the “3d displays are not officially supported’ message every time I start the game (or any game for that matter). I’m often not even in the same room as my computer when I start a game (using a controller and Steam Big Picture mode). I have to get up, walk to my computer, press ‘ctrl-alt-shift’, then walk back to the theatre room every single time. After reading it the first fifteen times, I have it burned into my brain at this point, and I no longer need to see and acknowledge it… I’ve searched high and low to find a way to disable this, but cannot see any options anywhere.

This is a minor complaint, to put some perspective on it. I’m really glad I decided to purchase VorpX and am really impressed. I’m just trying to further tweak my experience here. Any ideas / workarounds?

I’ll definitely check whether something similar will be possible for Cyberpunk 2077. Can’t say anything useful in that respect though since I haven’t really done any research yet.

On a sidenote: tinkering with timing functions almost certainly trips off anticheat software. Only use stuff like that in pure single player games without any online component.

I used VorpX about 6 months ago and it worked fine. I’ve tried reinstalling it recently, I requested a new download, reregistered it and everything went okay. I uninstalled, reinstalled, restarted my machine, and added exceptions to AVG, but I still get this error:

“The config app seems to be missing. If the problem persists, reinstalling vorpX might help.”

I even disabled AVG entirely to see if that was the issue, but I still get this error no matter what. I also tried clicking the alternative hooking method option. The program is actually present in my task manager, but when I click on “configure” it gives me that error.

I don’t actually have my headset yet, I bought an old Occulus Rift CV1 on ebay for super cheap, and I’m hoping to get by Friday, but I don’t think I actually need Occulus Software running to get the program to open, because I was experimenting with streaming through a GearVR headset about 6 months ago with ALVR, Driver4VR, and VorpX (which incredibly I got it to work, its just, you can’t really do anything heavy duty with it because the phone always overheats, but its still crazy that I was able to taste some VR with that setup).

My last resort is to just reformat my harddrive and start from scratch. My OS is Windows 10 basic. Any ideas here?

I never really got hooked into VR gaming (not too many great games in my opinion) and i almost sold my oculus before i found out that playing regular non-vr games using my oculus and those huge theater screens/virtual desktops is so much better that i actually never played any game on my monitor again, in fact i use my oculus on a daily basis now, sometimes several hours with short breaks only.

I even play pixel sidescrollers that way. Gaming on my “small” 31inch screen just isn´t doing it for me anymore.

Actually bought vorpX only because there are several troubles with certain games running on free virtual desktop software while they run far better with vorpX while vorpX doesn´t draw as much power from my rig as for example bigscreen does.

Funny thing is now that i use my oculus on a daily basis, i got in the mood to actually play VR titles again and i also enjoy them, unlike when i had that (bad) start over a year ago.

I actually only use vorpX´s 3D and full-vr mode for games that i already finished in their original non-vr/non-3d mode but not on the first run.

I’m having a new issue I haven’t encountered before: I’m getting Steam VR crashes when playing Cyberpunk 2077 and Greedfall consistently and repeatedly when I’m trying to spit the output to my Pimax 5K+ through vorpX. They do NOT crash when using vorpX to spit them to my generic 3D display (Steam VR is not running in this case, and therefore can’t crash.) I’m playing other titles just fine vorpX -> Pimax, including some relatively demanding ones (Outer Worlds etc.) The only difference off the top of my head (beyond those being entire different game-engines) is that I’m playing these in Virtual Cinema mode, not as full VR titles.

Things it is not: it’s not overclocking or overheating issues. My rig runs very cool and I can push both the GPU and CPU to 100% with zero stability issues under extended testing (both benchmarking and real-world.) For example, Cyberpunk 2077 routinely pegs my GPU at 98-100% usage and runs between 45-60fps with vsync on (I’m using RT on a 2080 Super) and my temps remain below 70c. CPU usage under *any* game scenario isn’t enough to even make my system blink (liquid cooled 5900x running stock frequencies as there is zero point in overclocking it at this point.) So I’ve made very, very sure that I’m running a stable configuration in terms of the hardware; it’s only when adding vorpX -> HMD that this issue appears.

Any obvious things I could be doing wrong? I’ve been wondering if it’s a vram thing, but that should maybe cause a hitch in performance, not a lockup.

Big concern with this is online, Ive heard they ban you without warking for hooking with cheat engine or any other app like vorpx into the game. Whats more game would “remember” if a character you have played offline used any apps that hooked to the game (i.e. potential cheats) and ban you if you go online with that character.

Unless it only concerns DS3, maybe DS2 is different.

oh ya, i apologize for not mentioning that – but even to install the mod you must delete all your previous characters (obviously just move them to a seperate folder while you play the mod) and do a clean install when you wanna go back to Dark Souls 2 regular. I should have mentioned that.

That being said, there is also a new big mod for Dark souls 3 called Convergence that has kinda blown my mind, tons of new spells, including new classes like Necromancers and Druids that can summon zombies/animals to help. Major emphasis on magic, all new magic effects… and you can get that into first person vr as well. Heres links if anyones interested.

    Mod convergence:
    https://www.nexusmods.com/darksouls3/mods/672?tab=files

Mod with first person option, no need to tweak it like Dark souls 2’s first person mod:

    Hey folks,

So a modder released on Nexusmods a pretty extensive reworking for Dark Souls 2. Enemy behavior and location changes, item changes, boss changes, combat speed closer to Dark Souls 3 – so decided I wanted to try it out.

I got it working pretty well on Vorpx in first person FullVR mode and wanted to give a rundown to anyone who might be interested in trying Dark Souls 2 in first person VR.

Each time you decide to play; it will take about 2 minutes to properly setup your game and then youre good to go.

Below are the links for a First Person CheatEngine mod and with it a FOV Cheat Engine Mod.

    https://app.mediafire.com/1kmp5l03ah0t4

I am sorry I do not know who these mod authors are, I have had these files sitting in my PC for years at this point and I tried to find the same ones but couldnt on Google and Nexus.

I am using these in Scholar of the First Sin, not the original Dark Souls 2, so I am not sure if it will work with it.

    So, directions:

    1) Make a new character and get Binoculars in the game. They are literally within 2 minutes of the start of the game if you just run directly to them, the link below is from a Youtuber that shows where to get them at the primary hub in the game.

So, get the binoculars and put them in one of your weapon slots, thats all we need as far as items in game.

    2)
Always be loaded into the game world before using the CheatEngine mods, so always log into a character and then Alt+Tab out and time to set up the CheatEngine stuff.

For the FOVDS2.CT mod, open it, click the little computer icon at the top left (Select a process to open) and make sure to choose DARK SOULS II. Then towards the bottom of the window, click the box next to “Change FOV”.

The very next line is “FOV Value”, check this as well. In that row next to “FOV Value” you should see these numbers : 0.7679448724. Double click 0.7679448724 and when the box pops up, replace it with this: -29.23205376

Thats all for that step, your FOV should look pretty nuts, but the next mod will take care of it.

    3) Open the FOVDS2.CT file and again, select a process to open in the upper right computer Icon and select DARK SOULS II. A pop up will appear, choose “Yes”. Click the box next to First Person First Person (Usage: Turn on script, zoom in with bow/binoc)

    4) Switch back to your game and, use the binoculars once and now you will be in VR, if you look down you can see your body, etc. Put bincolars back in your backup items and pull out your real weapons and start playing.

I know this all seemed like a lot, but it literally takes 1 1/2 minutes to setup when youre logging in. The only real “upkeep” you have to do, is when you die or go through a load screen, equip the binoculars again for a moment to activate first person view. I recommend just keeping the binoculars in one of your 6 weapon slots and just hopping right to it, tapping it on, then switch back to your real weapons.

-There is no need to ever leave gameplay to reset the mod, you just need to use the binoculars to ‘turn on’ the first person mod after loading screens-

The game -is- more difficult, but definitely playable. For a bit more fun Id recommend getting a large sword so you can clearly see your hits, but you should be able to play most builds just fine; probably will die more since we are losing situational awareness, but, its fun to see this world in first person with Geo3d. Keep in mind you CAN adjust the HUD position in this game, so if you play FullVR like me, I recommend pulling health bars into view, etc.

One last thing – if youre playing with an Xbox or Ps4 controller – go into Steam controller configurations and change your right control stick to “Joystick mouse” – for some reason the game turns extremely slowly with regular joystick with these mods. All other buttons can remain the same.

On an aside, I have a few hours into that new mod on Nexus and am enjoying the changes to combat, if anyone wanted to try it, heres a link for that too.

    https://www.nexusmods.com/darksouls2/mods/978

You dont need to play this mod to play regular Dark Souls 2 in first person VR.

If you have any questions, ill try to help out.. and again, sorry, dont know who made those cheattables, but they work.

    Take care of yourselves folks.

Somehow I get the feeleing no matter what the actual limits are for any setting are, there is always someone who wants more just because apparently more is always better. :)

With English not being my first language and me being too fast at times along with not always using the best words coming to mind, i probably made myself unclear before.

Is that screen-size improvement with the last update also the final limit now or are there probably being more limits we could reach?

I reckon every improvement in terms of screen size could also cause more stuttering problems etc., this again probably being the actual reason for not having one general/overall screen size limit from start along with risking users turning up the screen scale “too big” and ending up storming the troubleshooting-section here.

On the other hand vorpX´s ingame-configuration options really don´t leave anything to be desired, so i was asking myself why there couldn´t be one absolute maximum screen-scale option, giving it that warning-message when a certain point is exceeded, just like other configuration-sliders have it as well, then you could have one overall screen size limit and no need to improve limits with updates as well as no users asking for such improvements.

Please keep in mind i am just asking how this would probably be workin, so if the current screen scale limit is the final one, then it is totally fine with me.

Regarding the current screen scale limit of being “large enough”: At the end it is in the viewer´s eye and all about adapting/getting used to things, especially the experience in terms of playing games or watching movies, that is why people buying bigger and bigger monitors/tv sets every year, not to forget that thankfuly this is also why VR-Sickness goes away pretty fast (despite some people still thinking it would stay forever)…

….so since i just found out i am actually not the only one with a theatre-screen-fetish rather than being too much into fullVR-experiences…

I find standard games (2D or 3D) on an impossibly huge theatre screen more enticing than VR itself. This is actually the main reason I ordered a Reverb G2.

Please consider adding more display options for us theatre aficionados. As the quality of HMD’s improves our numbers will only increase.

(quoted from an older thread from BEFORE last update with the improvements)

…there are probably even more users thinking about the same thing now or in the future.

Just hoping to bump this thread. Do you have any update? I ask because Outriders seems to be one of the latest victims to Easy Anti-Cheat. Really looking forward to this game if we can play it with vorpX! =)
