This is kind of frustrating. I already wrote that I used a fresh installation of witcher 3 with no mods. So this is should at least work somehow. It is a bit strange that the profile hooks but still no 3D, only look on a 2D screen.

I have been trying The Witcher 3 for the last month with both the beta and the old official vorpx versions and also with the new 24.1.0 version and I always get the same results.

When I run the game in DX11 mode I get a message from vorpx that the profile requires additional components to fully work. If I run the game without installing the additional components the game starts and it has Z-normal and Z-adaptive, but no 3D. If I install the additional components, when I run the game it starts a window with REDengine3 on it and it says “compiling scripts” and than I get this error:

Error [content0]game\gameplay\damage\damagemanagerprocessor.ws(557): Could not find function ‘ShouldAutoApplyOilImmediately’
Error [content0]game\gameplay\damage\damagemanagerprocessor.ws(562): Could not find function ‘ShouldAutoApplyOilImmediately’

Warning [content0]engine\showflags.ws(11): Global native function ‘DebugSetEShowFlag’ was not exported from C++ code.

I have the game on GOG if that helps.

I hope there will be some answers. I bought Witcher 3 on steam and just installed it. No mods. Than I startet the game, all is fine. It is the complete edition with the next generation graphics.

Then I started vorpx and the game. The game hooks and just gives me a flat screen, so I look on a screen without 3D. I can call the vorpx menu and it works, but no way to get 3D.

Since I changed nothing I guess other players should have the same problem, too. What can I do?

Having finished season 3 of Witcher on Netflix, I’m ready to (belatedly) dive into the Witcher 3 game.

I see that Witcher 3 went through a recent upgrade, and Ralph did some beta work to support it. I’m on 23.1.0 beta 4. However, I can’t seem to get Vorpx to hook into the game.

Just curious if anyone out there has Witcher 3 working atm. If so:

    * Which version of Vorpx are you using?
    * Are you using Steam Link or VD or AirLink?
    * Which Witcher 3 profile are you using? (Official one, a different one?)
    * Which runtime are you using? Steam’s OpenVR or Oculus’s OpenXR

Thanks in advance for the help!

Nvidia tools let you capture 360 videos(not sure) and photos(sure) of games that support their tech, like witcher 3 or mirrors edge for example, but its a handful of games that support it

…Ah it seems its only screenshots https://blog.kuula.co/360-game-screenshots-howto

but people have recorded 360 videos of gameplay so it is possible https://www.reddit.com/r/virtualreality/comments/lwrluj/how_to_record_make_videos_to_be_360vr/

but its worth to mention: a) it will be very demanding to render game in 360 like ralf said, b) even more so in vr, c) most importantly it will look like shit if you try to watch it back in vr, you need something like 4-8k and 4k is bare minimum looking quite blurry, video file will be enormous, not many players would be able to play it back without stuttering horribly.

Maybe first you could try playing those games in a free program like Bigscreen Beta or Virtual Desktop and see how you feel. Most third person games in vorpX are played on a similar virtual screen, but adds the stereo 3D effect that makes it look like VR.

Teleport function is not something vorpX adds to games. And because the games we are tying to play were not designed for VR, you can’t expect the same locomotion and tracking systems as native VR.

I’m not prone to motion sickness in VR so I might not qualify for your question, but I do use vorpX for all games that I play. A few of my favorite third person games being Assassin’s Creed Odyssey/Origins, Witcher 3, and RDR2.

Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 and in few days the dlc, too. No other vorpx game is better optimized.

But you can also play The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt Enhanced Edition, it is very good optimized, too.

I just purchased vorpX when I saw Baldur’s Gate 3 was a support application. However, I cannot get past the loading screen. The game launches (in DX 11), hooks successfully, shows the loading screen with the VorpX logo and version information footer, the progress bar works its way up to 100% and then becomes non-responsive. I can hear the audio loads as if it showing the main menu, but the screen is still stuck on the loading screen at 100%. The task manager shows the application as non-responsive. In SteamVR it never loads the game either. It shows a blank “Next Up” window as if it is about to load the app, but never actually launches. If I pause the Watcher so the game loads normally, I can then start Desktop View and it shows fine there. But there is no 3D or full VR support there.

I have been pouring over forum articles and Google searches for the last several hours, but nothing seems to help. Any suggestions?

Other games such as Witcher 3 hook and load fine, although I found out that in order to use Full VR I need to install mods to get a first-person camera and adjust the FOV such as Gervants First Person mod (https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/5706). It looks awesome in Full VR and seems like the head tracking will work well if I can fix the perspective issues.

    Hi all,

FarCry 6 was correctely hooked by Vorpx on version 21.3.2, but this last version doens’t seem to work anymore.

I have tried all kind of hook helpers (D3D9, D3D10/11/12, Generic), but any won’t let FarCar 6 to hook to Vorpx. The Vorpx attach menu shows up, but after a while is going to propose alternative hook solution.

Is it possible to have access to previous beta version download? Sometime it could be convenient to be able to revert back just to keep things that used to work (even if Vorpx is a beta we are still enjoying it), or simply do some behavior comparison?

Just a quick note about The Witcher 3. The DX12 version seems still not hooking, and with DX11 version Z-Depth and Z-Adaptative are still not working, and Geomoetry performance seems not really functional and very laggy.

    Thanks

Im using the HP Reverb G2 to try playing Witcher 3 in VR, but it just says “attaching to Witcher 3.exe” but still launches, and it doesnt go into VR. I’ve also attempted Tiny Tinas Wonderlands and while it does go into VR and head tracking mode, there doesn’t appear to be any 3d effect.

Also, i was wondering if there was a way to experience SBS Reshade? On the Oculus i just launched Bigscreen and then used the 3d Reshade in games to acheive the 3d effect i wanted, but the HP Reverb G2 doesnt have a native Bigscreen app? What can i do?

Ralf got us so hooked, LOL…

But seriously, great topic, and one i’m passionate about, so i just have to add my thoughts.

I’m a gamer who plays for the experience, which sometimes can be “life-changing”. Did i hear someone laugh? Bear with me for a moment (and excuse all the fighting with the English language :). I remember that in the 80s i watched “Star Wars: A New Hope” for the first time – i was a child then – and i can honestly say that it *did* change my life. It influenced my choice of profession, it contributed to my visual sensitivity and my style as an artist, and even influenced my way of thinking.

Games do similar things for me, albeit, as a grown-up, on a smaller scale. I still remember how i felt while exploring the dungeons of “Quake” in the 90s, the sense of wonder and complete detachment from real-life in “Unreal”… I dreamt multiple times, like being really there, of the assault on the Chernobyl plant in the 1st STALKER game. I still now and then think about the stories & characters of “Mass Effect” and “Dragon Age”, and i still often ponder the mankind-old questions about consciousness and self-awareness i was confronted with in SOMA. I could go on and on, but it’s getting excessive…

This is what kind of gamer i am. I don’t care about MP games or competition, combat and looting have always been a means to an end and IMO should be well balanced with story / characters / world building to remain fun. So you’d understand why the current native VR games don’t interest me. Thanks to vorpX i can enjoy “real” games with even more immersion, sense of scale, being inside the game-world etc. Oh and it’s the biggest upgrade to all those classic game experiences.

    >>>>>i often wonder how anyone can even barely “enjoy” a game on such a small 31-inch screen.<<<<<

I still play flat from time to time, when the friction of current VR tech starts to annoy me too much, but then again i have an 38″ curved ultrawide monitor with DIY ambilight (got the idea from vorpX ambient background in immersive screen!). But it’s still inferior to what vorpX offers and i always come back to strapping a brick to my face.

    >>>>>we are getting an overload with great games and i understand that if one ain´t “careful”, you´re getting too much of your beloved hobby and lose some joy and interest in it.<<<<<

This is a point that i’ve always been worried about since my teen years, so i’ve made a habit to always making sure that the things i “consume” (movies, games, books etc) are well chosen and only the best of the best. I’m never gonna play a samurai game because it’s the only samurai game in existence on PC – i’m gonna wait until some studio releases an excellent GOTY level samurai game and then i’m gonna play it. :)

Oh, and i refuse to play multiple games at the same time. I need to immerse myself fully. If a game doesn’t “catch” me after a couple of hours, i uninstall. And maybe re-try years later. But i do careful research and this doesn’t happen often.

Gotta get back to work, but i’m looking forward to my adventure in Undvik tonight. vorpX in Reverb G2 @2560×1440 Immersive Screen – i couldn’t imagine a better way to play “The Witcher 3”, even though i sometimes wish for a higher resolution and less screen door effect… It’s never enough, right? :)

    @ VRified:

Looks like I disabled the whole Witcher 3 game specific programming for debugging purposes and forgot to re-enable it…

vorpX for a lot of games comes with game specific code modules that usually provide functionality that ‘normal’ profiles can’t provide. Since this module doesn’t kick in for Witcher 3 currently, all game specific extra functionality is unavailable. Will be rectified in the next beta release.

    @ mrSerge:

Not sure about your mouse issue, sorry. As far as gestures are concerned, check the brief video in the first post of this thread. It explains where to find the list of available gestures and how to enable them.
