Thanks for the feedback. I wasn’t 100% sure if the fix would work globally.

Could you give us a ballpark estimate when you think its plausible CV1 compatibility could be available? Do you think its a matter or days, or perhaps weeks, months?

As it stands, I am checking the website every few hours, I am so anxious to play some of my favorite games on the occulus for the first time.

Can’t wait for the release. Any idea if there are performance benefits from the new sdk? Atleast Elite runs much better with sdk 1.3, so I was wondering how much of that improvement was part of new sdk or the work of frontier?

Ballpark figure confirmed… it will release before 2017!

Avoiding any “ballpark-estimates”: as soon as possible.

Thank you! Is there, by chance, a way to lower the text closer to center screen, or increase the size? Edge-peek makes the text too small for me to read, and while the placement is better than any other FPS counter out there, it’s still high enough that I’m straining my eyeballs to look at it directly.

I ordered the CV1 yesterday, I was on the ball at 4pm but took about 15 mins or so to finish what with all the traffic. So I think or hope I should be among the first.

I will be keeping my Dk2 though until I have the CV1 in my hands lol.
Must admit I am going to go for the Vive also as they both have great options.
I does make me laugh what with all this grunting about the price. Yes it’s not cheap but why people expect a company to give it away beats me. People happily spend $600 on a phone that they use to take selfies.
I knew it was coming out so I have been saving in a pot for 1 year.

Anyway thanks Ralf and I look forward to playing more games on future tech with Vorpx..

How about ffxiv? Do we have a snowballs chance in hell of seeing this title any time?

Don’t let’s drag this on forever. Of course everyone has a higher FOV than the Rift, BUT the screen corners are usually occluded by the lens edges, maybe unless your eye balls are practically touching the lenses. This has nothing to do with one having a higher FOV than the Rift or not.

As said above, I’ll see what’s possible.

Hi, besides having some problems with getting vorpex to work with the rift (
    viero worked instantly)
    I got it run finally.
But now there is a problem. 3d is working fine the vr key menue, too.
But despite all adjustments i made i have somehow double pictures.
For example if you look at a ball it will be like two merged with a little skew .
Mouse , hud and even the virtuel mouse is looking fine.
Nvidia 970 gtx, latest driver, i5.
    Rift as primary.
As well i cant see the rift image on my Second screen Samsung 55 inch screen.
    any ideas

There are 2 main things I have noticed that makes it do that when you get close to an object. The first and most important setting you need to get set so you feel comfortable and that is IPD. the rift comes with a ballpark setting of like 75. But a ball park is pretty big, its like buying a one size fits all pants and expecting them to fit great. My IPD is 62.2. Getting this set correctly is A #1 on the list of things to do. Next is go stand next to something until it gets the double effect going then reduce your 3D strength inside vropX menu until you feel comfortable. Works for me every time.

It seems everyone agrees that WoW isn’t good for oculus rift (at least not in it’s current state).
First thing, with respect to third person view, you can zoom completely in and then your actually in first person view (and with head-tracking.. could this be feasible?).
Even if WoW isn’t very well suited for playing, you can still play to have fun and experience 3D :). Also, I would love to use oculus rift + WoW or similar fantasy game to convince my brain that I’m flying on a magic carpet, I am able to shoot fireballs, leap tall buildings and similar. You can also look at giant monsters in their full size and get a whole new perspective on the game, I have a couple of places in WoW that I would love to see in real 3D :).

You can also play in this first person view mode, just add handicap: go up against weaker monsters. Sure it’s not funny if you compare yourself to all the other players using a normal screen, but experiencing the fight in 3D would be nice or playing with a group of friends who are all using the rift.

Still, it would be nice with video of real gameplay (complete a mission), where you have to read and interact with text, level up (stats, skills, change equipment etc.). Or a trial could do this as well, as I’m still not certain how well this actually works.
I just made a search on Youtube and the top videos for vorpx either doesn’t show 3d (two screens) or the guy just walks around. I did however find one that showed edge peek, looks very nice :) there goes at least some of my concerns.

There is no definitive answer to that question. Some basic settings like the display configuration or your IPD value for example are stored globally, while others are saved per game, which makes more sense in most cases.

Zoomed in: Dear Esther has a FOV slider in it’s game options. Setting that to the hieghest value (maybe combined with “3D FOV Enhancement” or one of the letterbox aspect ratio modes in vorpX (display page of the config app)) will give you a natural looking image.

You can use the ingame menu (press [DEL] while in the game) to change and save settings per game. When you change settings there and close the menu with OK & Save settings are saved for the game in question.

A handful of settings is globally saved for everything, but the vast majority is saved per game.
