I think Witcher 3 will very likely save us. And if not perfect on day one, I have to imagine this game will take top priority on the asap list – much like an Elder Scrolls or Fallout.

Been testing out W3 G3D this week actually and adding a few mods. Looking pretty good. Soon time to restart this big adventure, this time in VR!

It’s supposed to be on a reworked version of the Witcher 3 engine. It will most likely have DX11. There is a chance someone hooks on the Witcher 3 profile day one is possible, hell I know I’m gonna try ;)

Since Cyberpunk was announced to have Raytracing, it has a chance to be DX12 (or Vulkan) only, which VorpX doesn’t support. Though this is unlikely, it will probably have DX11 support and a similar engine to Witcher 3, which VorpX do support. But if it is DX12 or Vulkan only, this would be a huge incentive for VorpX to add support for one of them.

Having a reaaaaly weird issue here. I have the first person mod for Witcher 3. It works well on its own. VorpX works well on its own. But when combined, I can’t actually type the letter “k” in the console to do the fphook command to get the first person mod working. Its the only letter I can’t type in the console.
Shouldn’t matter if its hotkeyed either, since I’m in the console and can type anything but that damn letter k. Anyone run into this?

Yes, the shadows fix for Exodus does indeed help. I’m now able to keep a mostly stable 36fps needed for smart smoothing. Nice! Looks better too imo.

I also picked up Mordhau this weekend and am having a great time. Excellent first person animations! It’s also one of the few games we get to play online with vorpX lately, so good choice. Thanks for the profile.

It has me hoping we will see EAC support, as there are several on that list I am much eager to try :) (Hell Let Loose, Battalion 1944, Insurgency Sandstorm, Rising Storm Vietnam, Hunt Showdown, World War 3, Miscreated, Division 2 … just to name a few ;) )

I really like how G3D looks in cinema full zoom on the Pimax8K. It covers almost 98% of the Pimax fov and feels pretty natural with the right settings. Now that immersive screen nearly matches that too, I can get similar results for cutscene games like Witcher3/ACOdyssey.

Just saying I am quit enjoying the new update. Cheers.

When you start a game that requires admin rights (like The Witcher) from a restricted account, it is executed on your admin account, which probably is the reason why it can’t connect to the Oculus runtime. You’d have to contact Oculus support about that, but likely they won’t care since no native app/game requires admin rights.

BTW: Running vorpX as admin in your scenario is also less than ideal. Like many other apps/games vorpX stores a few things in a user specific folder (e.g. background images for cinema mode). Since running an app with admin rights on a restricted account always implies running it with a different user account, you have two different user folders and probably will wonder later why things behave differently when you run vorpX as admin/non-admin.

None of the above is a vorpX issue, just ‘perfectly normal’ side effects of running programs that require admin rights from a restricted account.

Bottom line: don’t use a restricted account on a home PC, doubly so if you want to use older games/apps that require admin rights. Doesn’t really have any security advantages since UAC was introduced in Windows Vista, but causes a lot of small and sometimes larger hiccups. Restricted accounts only really make sense if as an admin you want to limit another user’s access to the system. For an account you are using yourself restricted rights don’t make much sense these days.

I figured out what the problem is. The above problem only occurs if i try to run this combo on a non-admin Windows 10 account.

As soon as i switch to an admin account, the problem is gone. I finally managed to try out Witcher 1! Didn’t test with SteamVR, but it’s probably the same.

I don’t know why this happens, but i think it shouldn’t. I wonder if i’m the only one who uses a non-default (non-admin) account in Win10, so i’m the first to notice? My Windows install and those accounts are fresh, so we are not talking about a corrupted system here.

Any thoughts, Ralf? And maybe the possibility for a fix? For now i’m glad that i can switch the account and still play, but it’s not the cleanest solution. :)

Thanks for the heads-up. I’m aware of that, but the firewall control usually notifies me if something new occurs. It’s not 100% reliable, i think – i remember having exactly the problem you mentioned. I’ll look into it further.

Tomorrow i’ll try vorpX with Witcher 1 on my new install, and i’ll update my other post.

I just removed the gamma loader (uninstalled the software), and then completely disabled any custom ICC profiles in the Win10 color management settings.

After a reboot there still was no change, so the problem lies elsewhere.

I’m not giving up that easily. I’ll try a different nVidia driver, and then a fresh Windows install (i can backup my partition). I’ll report after that.

BTW, do you have any idea what my other issue could be? Maybe the problems are related? https://www.vorpx.com/forums/topic/error-w-witcher-1-both-oculus-and-steamvr/

I tried to run The Witcher Enhanced Edition (GOG version), but i get the following error:

    ————————————————————-
Oculus runtime init failed. vorpX will not work correctly.
Try to restart the Oculus Software or your PC.

Switching vorpX to SteamVR mode may help in some cases.

    Oculus runtime error:
Couldn’t connect to the OVR Service. (-3003)
    ————————————————————-

I tried the suggestion and switched to Steam VR, and got the following error:

    ————————————————————-
The OpenVR (SteamVR) runtime does not seem to be installed.
This is a severe problem. Please reinstall SteamVR.
    ————————————————————-

The game starts with the VorpX logo in it, but it doesn’t respond to shortcuts, and i even saw a message saying that the framerate i 0 fps (can’t remember exactly).

I can’t for the life of me figure out what the problem is. I reinstalled the Oculus software, i rebooted, i changed the USB port. Made sure OculusClient is running, made sure SteamVR was running. No luck at all.

I read other people are using Rift S with no problems, so there’s gotta be a problem on my end. Maybe i’m missing something. Maybe it’s related to my other issue i posted about (the spinning view of the Desktop Viewer and some games).

I finally tried VorpX with Rift S and the current Oculus drivers, and tested the Desktop Viewer first. I can’t see anything because the screen is spinning all over my view. The same thing happens with Witcher 2 and 3 (first one doesn’t hook, but that’s for another thread).

My install is fresh. I ran everything in the proper order. I don’t have any of those nasty utilities that interfere with injection. But VorpX still doesn’t want to work properly.

I’ve been trying many many workarounds and ideas for hours now, to no avail, and i’m very frustrated and depressed.

    Please help me.

Hi , want to share this. I recently made a fresh install of witcher 3. I installed a mod called bullet time. This is fantastic. During exploration or during a fight you can pan around with the camera and if the free cam is active you can move and zoom freely around the action scene. I flew aside with a griffin over the W3 landscape or took a close look during dismembering a few hostiles. THIS WAS SO FANTASTIC!

@ralph,, can u give an advice. In witcher 3 with g3d, 1920X1440, i have a problem with this. Looking at a fire place for example the light disappears if slightly moving the head or walking forward. The same is when moving the sky is getting black, for a few seconds , and looking at the ground puddles appear or disappear , at the slightest movement .If switching to immersive or cinema mode its not.
Changing resolution, fov or whatever disabling, shadows doesnt help either.
