it still says: thewitcher 3 exe loading takes too long….. check your headset..
any news on the witcher3 ? Wil we be able to play this game soon??
Had the same issue after my Nvidia graphics driver was updated weeks ago. The last driver that works for me is 361.91. Witcher 3 is the only game that does this for me.
Edit: I am using a GTX 970
Unfortunataley that’s not an updated version. I also think there should be better documentation about the subject and i’m hopeful for the next version of Vorpx for that.
I also would like to know, when possible, about future compatibility with mayor titles. The main point of Geometry over Z-buffer, to me, is positional tracking, which is essential to provide comfort for longer gaming sessions. Out of that, Z-buffer 3d looks very good in many games, and it is really good performance wise as well. I would say the image looks cleaner and smoother.
Ralph said there may be Z-Buffer Positional tracking in the next Vorpx. I am really interested on this. I would like to know, for example, if THE WITCHER 3 will have some form of positional tracking or it will directly support Geometry. So i can start dreaming of playing that POV version of the game in VR.
I recently got my HTC Vive and I want to play primarily modded Skyrim/Skyrim SE and the Witcher 3 in VR.
Before I buy, just wanted to know the current state of Vorpx development support for Vive users as I see that its still in beta stage for it as compared to the Vorpx support for rift. There are as many vive users (>150,000 as per this vive game’s usage data http://steamspy.com/app/327140) as rift users if not more (twice as many vive(60%) users on steam compared to 30% for rift – Steam’s latest october survey – http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey) so I hope the devs do give proper supp for Vorpx Vive users.
Just wanted to make sure that if I buy ..I can be reassured that the vorpx supp will get better for vive users in future as I am a bit hesitant with all the confusion around vorpx support for vive users online.
Thanks
Guess then I wasted my money by buying this app, as there is no refund possible I have read.
I bought it just for two games, star citizen and witcher 3. I know star citizen is not officially supported, so that’s ok if it does not work well (I do not like the way it looks with vorpx), but if I can’t even play the witcher with it…
I think I might have just made the same mistake. After months of consideration I finally bought VorPX yesterday and have had nothing but problems with it… For a $50 application you would at least expect some support. This should really be freeware at this point…
Ralf, I’m always singing the praises of VorpX where ever I go. Love it. But there is ONE thing that would really really make it even better. More games support!!
I’ve said it in other threads, but I’ll say it again. Please add more games to the supported list (G3D of course). Great candidates:
– AC4 Black Flag (or AC Unity)
– The Forest
– Dark Souls 3
– Far Cry 4
– Mad Max
– Splinter Cell Blacklist
– DE Mankind Divided
– Metal Gear Solid 5 Phantom Pain
– witcher 3
Keep up the good work!
If you need help, let me know!
Hey Ralf,
I’m sure you get a million of these, but here is a list of games that would absolutely rock with VorpX support. (In Geometry of course)
– Stranded Deep
– Layers of Fear
– AC4 Black Flag (or AC Unity)
– The Forest
– Dark Souls 3
– Far Cry 4
– Mad Max
– SOMA
– Splinter Cell Blacklist
– DE Mankind Divided
– Metal Gear Solid 5 Phantom Pain
– Witcher 3
Let me know what you think, or what is do-able in the future…
Cheers,
Dean.

So, is vorpx supposed to work with the latest steam version of the witcher 3 now? Unsure how to launch it, either it seems to do nothing, or it tries to compile then I get an error message…
Thanks
Having the same issue, it was working very well in 3D up until a week ago, no mods needed just run vorpx, and create a shortcut via vorpx for witcher 3….however now I start the game, the icon appears, screen goes black, then I’m back at the desktop! disable vorpx and it works fine….very odd.
Has anyone been able to identify the exact reason why this game sometimes stops from hooking with vorpx? I have Oculus CV1 and Witcher 3 GOG version.
Few days ago I had it working perfectly. Then the next day it wasnt hooking but I managed to get it working again by (I think) adding some exceptions to Windows Defender and making vorpx shortcut of the game, I didnt change any ingame settings.
Now its not working once again no matter what i try: If I start game with vorpx shortcut or from game exe I get “Sorry, Witcher3.exe taking a long time..” and black screen with game sounds in the background and if I start from GOG galaxy it seems as if nothing happens but there is a hidden Witcher3 process running that I can see in taskmanager. ALT-TABing doesnt help. I have renamed d3d11.dll, dxgi.dll and other dlls that GOG version creates and could conflict with vorpx. I dont have overlay or injecting software other than vorpx and Im only using Windows Defender.
Ill try reinstalling Witcher 3 without GOG galaxy and maybe reverting my GTX 1070 drivers because those might have been updated when i started having problems.
Ill report back if I figure out something.
I have no problem giving credit where credit is due, especially as there seems to be a lot of people out there on the negative train, due to super high expectations or inability to spend the time to set it up. That’s the internet…
Ralf, If I were you, I would focus on 1) setting expectations – give video tutorials, etc. 2) Maybe a wizard or foolproof simple page of instructions 3) Focus on Geometry 3D for a few more “winner” type games that would win people over. ie. Assassins creed 4,5,6, Splinter cell blacklist, witcher 3, fear 3, alien isolation, mankind divided.
Keep this puppy rolling – VR is brand new, and this has so much potential to be huge.
Cheers,
Dean.
If it worked before and now suddenly doesn’t the best course of action is probably going back to a Windows system restore point from before the issue started to occur.
Apart from that: a potential cause of this issue is that games sometimes can loose the input focus and thus don’t actually load when Oculus Home activates itself. Try to switch to the game with ALT TAB.
Also try to create a vorpX desktop shortcut to witcher3.exe instead of the normal injection. To do that, right click the vorpX tray icon, choose “Create desktop shortcut” and then navigate to the game’s .exe and select it.
And last but not least: if you use anything else than Windows Defender, try to disable/uninstall your virus scanner. Since most virus scanners update daily in the background, they are likely candidates for issues that appear seemingly out of nowhere.
