Heyo! I bought VorpX to run the Half Life 2 games, however I can’t seem to get any of them to work… I have an Index, and the issue is I click [Play], I see the “Attaching to hl2.exe” dialog (usually it goes away quickly, sometimes it sticks around until the help buttons pop up), and after a few seconds Steam thinks the game isn’t running anymore. I’ve tried looking through the forums to troubleshoot, but nothing has worked for me so far. I’ve tried:
– Starting the game with SteamVR running
– Starting the game without SteamVR running
– Excluding TurnSignal as a program to “attach to”
– Disabling TurnSignal on startup
– Restarting VorpX/Steam (and starting VorpX first before Steam)
– Running VorpX as administrator
– Trying the default/alternate hooking option
(I don’t have any other VR programs like TurnSignal that are running on startup, btw)
Hopefully someone can guide me in the right direction. I’ve had VorpX for a little while but still don’t know a whole lot about how it works; I’ve only played Titanfall 2 with it since buying it. I also remember reading somewhere that HL2 is a bit of a special case when trying to work with it in VR. I’d appreciate any help from anyone who might know more than me!
The newtests game work with dx12 that no have a g3d with vorpx. But dx9 dx10 and dx11 work with great 3d. Metro exodus titanfall 2 are the beat exemple
Great video, I didn’t even know that Titanfall 2 had some kind of revival.
Can’t recommend this one enough. Great FullVR experience and just the right age to run well in VR without the need for an Uber-PC while still looking extremely good.
Aside from everything required to make the game run out of the box the profile also comes with two noteworthy advanced DirectVR features that weren’t mentioned specifically in the video:
Automatic weapon hide to deal with the ‘face gun’ you often get when bringing first person games to VR: no running around with a weapon attached to your nose all the time. You might not even have known that you want something like that, but it makes a world of a difference when playing a game.
Preconfigured motion controller gestures for aiming down sights etc. (requires the vorpX beta currently). I’m still surprised myself how close to native VR games like this can feel with just a few well chosen gestures, even seated.

Short auto weapon hide demo for those who never heard of it:
So Titanfall 2 has a Revival and I tried the game again last night with VorpX for the first time in over a year.
It ran perfect, was smooth as silk and I thought it was just as good as the NEW portal 2 VR mod that was recently released.
I had a blast again, well done Ralf!
You need the beta. There is a brief introduction video in the beta post, including an explanation how to bind gestures to actions yourself. Incidentally using Titanfall 2 as a showcase.
Thank you for the response. I’ve gotten the VorpX icon back in my ‘Hidden Icons’ tray and can do all of the regular things with it. What seems to have solved it was restarting the computer after the update (after shutting it off last night and restarting it this morning), so all looks good right now.
I’ve been on the Flatscreen to VR Mod Discord Channel, and saw a posting that the Titanfall 2 profile has been updated and looks great, so I’m going to give that a shot.
Hi. Does the official Titanfall 2 profile still work with the newest Version (version v2.0.11.0)?
I got Titanfall 2 on steam sale. Wanna give it a try, as some Youtubers recommend it. After launching the game window opens and closes immediately. No VorpX hooking message windows, no error message. I tried the alternative hooking method as well. No VorpX hooking message windows, no error message. VorpX works(hooks) just fine with other games like FS22 or Kingdom Come: Deliverance.
It might not be necessary after all.
I tried a game (Dishonored Death of the Outsider) without an official profile just to see if I could get it to work in pancake mode.
But it refused to boot with the GEO-11 shader fixes DX11 DLL in the folder.
It just kept looping and trying to start the game.
Not sure if there’s a way of getting around this. But if we could hook directly into games to simply display them as is, it’d open up a lot of possibilities re: 3d gaming.
I’ve tried a few games on the new desktop viewer, and while it’s great… it’s not as stable as hooked games. I played Titanfall 2 and Rocket League earlier, and they don’t miss a beat at 90fps.
Hey Ralf,
I confess I had a real bad time with the BETA.
Anytime I enabled desktop viewer I ended up in loops, where it kept making my tv lose sync and flash on and off.
A couple of times it refused to let me move my mouse. The mouse was simply stuck in the middle of the screen, so I couldn’t end task on Vorpx. I had to reboot.
Then, when I sometimes could see the desktop on the g2, it was tiny.
I’m assuming my main screen res and refresh doesn’t affect anything?
You don’t have to set ‘extend’ or ‘mirror’ or ‘only screen x’?
And the second ‘virtual’ monitor should just be a very small square on the right of your main screen when you go to display settings, since it doesn’t have an actual resolution set there?
I know I’m doing something wrong, since everybody here has no problems.
I’ve reverted back tonight just so I could play some Titanfall & Rocket League.
But should I just try a reinstall of the BETA?
Yeah it doesn’t work and never has for me, I have different images in both eyes, the controller doesn’t seem to know which one it wants to use, I get a warning message saying I am on a higher version than 1.61, I give up.. I initially bought this vorpX to play my games in 3d on my projector and it did okay with that, but since getting my VR headset all I have had is issue after issue trying to play games in VR, if I only much as look at my VR controllers it screws up my inputs on pretty much anything I have tried, I have just spent a week trying out all my games and have come to the conclusion that this vorpX is only suitable for 3d on a big screen if you are lucky enough that it works, TitanFall 2 is the only game that was almost playable in almost VR without too many issues as long as I didn’t look at my vr controllers or bump the floor to hard that would screw up my gamepad, so I think from now on it’ll just be I will buy native VR games from now on and hope they make native VR support one day for these games, because I haven’t got the time anymore to mess around with this.
For some reason, when I’m in Titanfall 2, VorpX constantly spams the LMB button, even when I don’t touch the mouse
Additional info:
I launch Titanfall 2 from Steam while Origin is active (it won’t let me launch from EA Play)
I’m in the latest version of Windows 10 Pro
Any chance you could sneak a small adjustment to the authoring tool for testing in the beta?
The Stereo 3D Multiplier shader modifier currently works great for decreasing 3D strength for selected shaders, but there are times when I need to increase the the 3D strength beyond the default. Some games have arm and weapon models very flat looking, compared to the game world behind, and it is very eye straining.
This is probably due to the low fov set for first-person viewmodels, and I realize that simply increasing their 3D strength might not translate perfectly for natural 3D, but I think it could be better than nothing in these cases.
Of course a full fov and positional override of the viewmodels like you did with Titanfall 2 would be best, but if at the very least you could allow the current multiplier to go higher, I would like to try it out.
