i’m worry about FPS, because i don’t have enough to put MSAA x2 or more
and 1024x 1280 is very aliased/ugly in headset VR

I try some others things to have better resolultion. in 1600×1200 is better but no perfect.
and if i activate MSAAx2, i have a lot of flickering and black screen, very unconfortable.

but if i desactivate retroprojection in SteamVR, and use Virtual Super Resolution (more than my native mode) i can go to 2048×1536, and is very clean without AA but… reverse of the medal, i have a Pincushion distortion of view.

at this resoltuion i can maintain a 45 FPS in game

    Ralf,

I was wondering if vorpx has the capability of unlocking the camera and adding headtracking to The pinball Arcade or Pinball FX2, I know that there is a launcher/dll on github that makes pinball arcade work back on the 0.5.1 oculus runtime so its definitely do-able. If vorpX accomplishes this I will purchase immediately. I don’t play any other games but given how many are compatible it seems this may not be too daunting of a task to implement it if its not already compatible. This would create a lot of sales for you guys from within the digital pinball community.

I’ll check back here shortly to see if I’ve gotten any answers.

    thanks!

Here’s the debug report. It’s trying to launch but doesn’t quite make it.
I tried a second time and did not get an error; but there was no picture, only sound. Main screen was black, Vive was grey.
Note that I had disabled the Oculus runtime, since it was also launching along with steamvr and that didn’t work out.

I have 0.8 and it works for me.

Windows 8.1. I have radeon x280 upgraded drivers to 15.20

Note, I always run vorpx as administator. I remember having problems with other games prior to doing this.

(I Know nothing on the tech side regarding this)
So as the PS2 offered me many RPG’s which I just can’t forget like Dragon Quest VIII and rogue galaxy I was suprised to find that the Oculus may only work with the dolphin emulator at the moment. I also read something about 3d rendering finally availiable on the Pcsx2(If this has anything to do).
In a recent forum I read about someone Using vorpX on the PS2 emulator and he made it work. I believe I and many others would be spared a lot of dissapointment if we’ll ever get the opportunity to play this PS2 games with the oculus, even if Un-optimized and staggering.
A demonstraition of it at work: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vW_eKNv_MTQ
I’m also scared the consumer version would go all out and support nada either than it’s licensed PC games if someone can tell me about that. Thank you.

I tried creating a copy of the .dat and renaming to .exe. Running this has no effect – nothing is started in the task manager. I reverted back to normal and ran vorpX in the normal way. Here is a screenshot from the task manager:

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzqmJ69EehZ0OEx2ZldERkcxRnc/view?usp=sharing

I can’t think of anything particularly special about this machine. Its actually pretty clean as it is new and just used for Oculus stuff.

    Anything else I can try?

P.s. Outlast also has this issue.

Yeah, but the new GPUs cost a crapload of money, so its another huge investment.
I’m currently using a GTX680 and I don’t intend to replace it any time soon
(which is why I’m VERY careful with driver updates from nVidia… my GTX295 died to the 2XX driver series update :| google around, that update broke a whole bunch of GTX280s and 295s)

Anyway, I’m very much looking forward to native support for that stuff :)
I just don’t have the funds to actually afford it, because they always make it an requirement that you “get something” in order to use “something else”. :/
(3D Monitor and 3D ready card and 3D Vision for Stereo 3D)

Also: 3D Vision WAS nice – until they changed the driver in that way that you had no longer an option to NOT enable stereo on startup of games…
Every damn time you alt+tabbed it’d enable it – no matter if you were using it or not.
Also, 3D vision has very horrid ghosting effects

    Hello Ralph,

We all know you are extremely busy, but The fact that FSX was in the supported list is why I purchased VorpX. I develop for FSX add ins and have large number of people who wanting this solution for the DX2/CV1.

With the release of 0.4.2 can we get you to spend some cycles on getting FSX support for the DK2?

    Thank you in advance!

This is what forks for me in Risen 2, allowing simultaneous gamepad emulated headtracking and right analog stick for looking around on x360 gamepad.

    home.comcast.net/~sonofman2/vorpx1.jpg

    home.comcast.net/~sonofman2/vorpx2.jpg

Within the game Risen 2, there is only the option to enable gamepad or use mouse and keyboard and all I did was enable gamepad (it does not allow use of keyboard/mouse simultaneously with gamepad.) I did not have to mess with any mappings of gamepad in Risen 2 and the x360 gamepad controls everything. Good luck!

Hey guys! So after a lot of messing with emulators to get VorpX working, I decided to write a quick guide for anyone who wants to play emulated games in the Rift! So far, I’ve only managed to get three emulators working, but if anyone finds out how to do another emulator, I’ll gladly add it to this post and give them credit!

    Alrighty, here we go!

Nintendo 64 (Via Project64, many thanks to Ralf on this one!):

    1. Download Project64 1.6. For some reason, 2.0 doesn’t seem to like VorpX.
    2. Download Rice’s Video Plugin from here (http://files.emulation64.fr/Plugins/VID_Mudlord_RiceVideoSetup_6-1-4.zip)
    3. Extract the files inside to the [Project64 1.6 Installation]/Plugin/ folder.
    4. Run Project64 with VorpX control open and set Mudlord’s Rice Video Build 6.1.3 – DX9 as your graphics plugin. Feel free to make any changes in the plugin’s configuration (1280 x 800 resolution, etc, etc.)
    5. Run the desired rom! You will get a warning sometime during this guide that tracking isn’t functioning. This is true, and for now, all you’ll have is that awesome Oculus vision! However, in the next VorpX update, we’ll have KeyMapping, so you can very easily map head movements to keys, like Up, Down, Left, and Right!

Note: If it still doesn’t work, you may have to put BGMlib.dll into the same directory as Project64.exe. I used the BGMlib.dll from the 2.0 installation, inside plugins/gfx/, but I don’t think it should matter.

    PS2 (Via PCSX2):

    1. Install PCSX2 0.9.6.
    2. Download any roms, bios files, etc. to get the emulator working properly, and run it with VorpX control open.
    3. Set the graphics plugin to GSdx 890 (MSVC 15.00, [Whatever type of SSE your processor is. SSE2 is probably the safest if you don’t know, but test it out and see.])
    4. Open the configuration and change the following things:
    Resolution: 1280×800 60Hz
    Renderer: Direct3D9 (Software)
Shader: Pixel Shader 3.0 (2.0 probably works as well, haven’t tested it yet)
    Interlacing: None
    5. Click okay and run the iso! Same deal as with PJ64, it won’t head track, but with keymapping coming soon, we’ll be able to map head movements to keys!

NOTE: This setup is for 0.9.6, but theoretically, you can apply it to any later version. You just have to take the 0.9.6 graphics plugins and put them into the plugins folders for 0.9.7, 8, and most likely 1.0. It seems the later versions took out a lot of the options that help VorpX recognize the emulated game.

Gamecube (Via Dolphin, with help from Ralf and Marulu):

    1. Download and install Dolphin 4.0
    2. Edit the video plugin configuration so that it’s using the Direct3D9 backend. (Tested it with Direct3D 11, but it didn’t take.)
    3. Change fullscreen resolution to 1280 x 800, v-sync, hide mouse cursor, use fullscreen. Under enhancements, scaled EFB copy, widescreen hack, and under advanced, freelook.
    4. Start the iso! If you want to look around without keymapping, you do have the freelook feature enabled, which will allow you to look around by right clicking, and then looking around with the rift. But based on past experience, it moves really fast and doesn’t line up with your head movements particularly well, so it’s kind of meh…

So that’s it! If you have any problems setting these up, let me know, and I’ll give you suggestions to fix them! I hope to see more emulators with rift support soon, as they definitely can help fill the rift library with new VR Classics. :3

Oh! Before I forget- sorry for the double post, but I don’t see an edit option. I’m also hoping to find out if it will work on Project64! :D
