LaserParticipant
Or even better: wait until the next vorpX update to play the original Bioshock then. It’s worthwhile to wait, that much I can say.
Such a tease. :) Are you talking about profile specific update or something that affects all/most games? Can you give any estimation on when you plan on next update, its been awhile since last big one. Allthough I have to thank you for the custom profiles, I haven’t even gone through all the potential ones yet.

TenaciousJParticipantThese aren’t all FPS games, but are excellent picks:
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is AWESOME in VR if you’re into mystery adventures
Elite Dangerous if you like space exploration games
The Elder Scrolls Series – primarily Skyrim.
Fallout 4
The Batman Arkham Series
Metro 2033
Call of Duty Black Ops 1-3, Battlefield 3-4 and even Hardline, Any Splinter Cell or Crysis game
Alien Isolation
Quake I-III
Half Life 2
Portal
The Witcher 1 and 2 if you like extended campaign games that will suck all your time, not sure if Witcher III is manageable at acceptable graphics levels
Bioshock: Infinite
Borderlands
GTA IV and V
and to tickle your fear of heights check out Mirror’s EdgeEssentially if your computer can run it, and it’s built on a major game engine like Unreal, Unity, and quite a few others – it’ll play in VorpX. The less popular it is the more tweaking you’ll have to do though because it won’t have been done already by someone else. Once you get used to the Vorpx in game menu you’ll be able to get games to run. Whether you get a true stereoscopic experience depends on how the game was coded though.
I’m sure that’s clear as mud now.. lol. But hopefully there are a couple of games on there you can check out that are well established as compatible.

moarveerParticipantSame here, never got Bioshock 2 to work, no matter what I tried it kept crashing, I just gave up.
Aug 12, 2016 at 1:25am #110149
svartgeitParticipantI’m getting the same issues with bioshock 2. It’s honestly pretty annoying because I am good with computers and vorpx has been nothing but issue after issue. I still can’t get skyrim to work properly despite posting in the forums. I keep getting told to have it not modded which I stated a few times I didn’t mod it. I wish I would have saved my money because for the price I expected a little more polish on a product. I have yet to play a game with it despite hours of tinkering. I’m giving up and calling it a wash. I really wanted to play bioshock 2 but it crashes every time I start a new game after the intro.

grflhufParticipantI agree with OP.
The list is *very* misleading.
As there is no way to test VorpX before buying like with TriDef for example, all you have is this list and some internet chatter.
After buying VorpX it was like a kick in the nuts. Even a game is on the list the VorpX driver itself shows me on the rift that this game is not supported and all I get is a 2D “experience”. If you call that supported… no thank you.
But yes, it has to do something with my steam, steam overlay, ShadowPlay, Virus Scan, (insert random name here) and so on.
Selling the software as “beta” doesn’t help at all, well maybe the author as an excuse.
Some games like Amnesia are unplayable as the refresh rate is tied to your monitor. So if it’s 60 Hz you’ll get a 30 FPS “experience” in VR. *slowclap*
Some games’ physics is tied to 60 Hz refresh rate and here again it’s pretty much useless.
And even the game which run pretty well still have glitches with shadows or reflections.
I tried TriDef and it works and much better for games like Guild Wars 2, Tera, Life is Strange, Trine, Bioshock Infinite and so on. No headtracking, but playing first person VR with VorpX and not being do decouple head movement from mouse movement makes me wanna hit something really hard. The latter not being an issue of VorpX, it’s just the way it is and for me it sucks big time.
The most enjoyable way is really to play on a virtual screen in stereoscopic 3D and for that TriDef is far superior to VorpX.

3- Tomb Raider 2013 – Failed to Start with Vorpx Watcher enabled.Just played that couple of days ago, and worked fine just like before, I too have problems with some games. Bioshock2 crashes quite fast on my computer, and getting black screen treatment on games like Risen but I have to try to troubleshoot these by disabling non essential software.
What I would like to see in the supported games list is the 3D mode that the profile supports (without any big graphical issues) so I could know in advance what to expect, for example
Metro 2033 (geometry)
Tomb Raider (z-normal)
…

RalfKeymasterNo problem with Bioshock 1, 2, Infinite (Steam) here. Arma 3 also works as expected without BattleEye, normally started through Steam and the Arma 3 launcher.
Please primarily check for possibly conflicting programs on your PC. A lot of other apps also hook into games, not all of them are obvious. This can cause all sorts of issues with vorpX. Hottest candidates are: virus scanners, any sort of CPU/GPU utilities, game video recording/streaming software, chat programs and generally everything that can show notifictations in games.
Best way to trouble shoot is to disable/uninstall every background program that would not be there after a fresh, Microsoft only Windows install.

PudsleyParticipantI appreciate the response and what you are saying but I am not talking about optimizations.
Simply put the hook itself is not working with CV1.
Ignoring Bioshock 1 which I have an unusual problem of only 25% of the screen displaying which could be something else entirely I am seeing injections that simply aren’t working.
1- Bioshock 2 the process terminates a couple of seconds after launching, pause the watcher and the game works fine.
2- Arma 3 ignoring battleeye by running the arma3.exe we see a black display in the headset, pause the watcher and it works perfectly on the monitor.
3- Tomb Raider 2013 – Failed to Start with Vorpx Watcher enabled.
Can you really say these games are supported if it doesn’t actually work?
I completely understand if you were to say “Well Arma 3 is because the game developers patched it and it stopped working”. That makes sense but then why is it still on the supported list?
It’s become a standing joke in our office to check off each game on the Vorpx “supported” list as not supported on the Oculus Rift CV1.

dizietParticipantIf you’re brave you could try the Console Commands
http://bioshock.wikia.com/wiki/Console_CommandsThere’s a command for eye sight height ‘SetEyeHeight [Value]’ that might be worth looking into. Haven’t tried Bioshock Infinite yet, I’m slooowly making my way through Dishonored. Game looks and plays amazing!
I haven’t been able to make use of such commands. There’s no way I can discern to open the debug console in Bioshock Infinite so I suspect it may have been removed at compile time.
I’ve tried to modify the key bindings to associate some commands such as “SetEyeHeight 25.0”, “SetFOV” and “ToggleHUD” to unused keys but they didn’t take effect which was a shame.
I’ve resorted to raising the pneumatic cylinder on my chair and sitting up straight as the VorpX camera height modify introduces some rather disturbing artefacts on close up characters!
Still I have a configuration I’m happy enough with now. I wonder if something like cheat engine and appropriate configuration files could modify eye height for us. I’ve never used cheat engine though.

MarcoParticipantMirrror’s Edge, Outlast, The Darkness 2, Aliens Colonial Marines, Dishonored, Bioshock Infinite works great with Geometry and positional tracking support (the ones i have). I would dare saying they look like native Vr on a good rig. Others like Dead Space 3 still kick ass with Geometry but have no positional tracking.
Jun 4, 2016 at 11:07am #103235In reply to: Is there one game?
RalfKeymasterDo not tweak too much. While there are many options available, the only two things that absolutely must be addressed are field of view (FOV) to get a natural image and head tracking sensitivity for proper 1:1 tracking.
Popular games that are usually considered working well are for example: Bioshock Infinite, Skyrim, Fallout 4 (G3D probably too slow on most PCs though), Borderlands 1 + 2, Portal 2.
In general you should be able to get almost any first person game working to a satisfactory level by adjusting FOV and head tracking sensitivity.
The vorpX help also has a short guide describing a quick and dirty setup that works with almost everything very quick (“The 1-2-3 Game Setup”). It usually doesn’t provide the best possible result, but gets everything to a playable state.

MarcoParticipantPoints of view.. my games work great.
I just tried deus ex human revolution. It’s working, but took more than one hour to optimize via vorps settings, in game. And synchronisation is bugging with xbox controler, I must play directly on my keyboard.
And must notice that the quality of the textures is lower than half life 2 (2004) in VR (that is not requiering vorpx). I feel like playing a game of 2000 and not 2011…
I don’t like playing Deus Ex on the Vive so much. Which means that in my opinion that’s not one of the best VR adaptation. To see what Vorpx can do you should try other games especially Dishonored, Outlast, Bioshock Infinte, Aliens Colonial Marines, The Darkness 2… These are the ones i have offering best perfomance and easy configurations. Visually, they look great. But you will need a powerful rig to play in VR while keeping high resolution (1920×1440) and in game detail. Then it’s all about teaking and the way each games performs in VR. Some games may not be perfect but still highly playable, i would say Max Payne 3 and Duke Nukem Forever for example. Basic configuration is similar in most games but then you will see there’s always one or other little thing that can be fixed or adjusted to achieve the best experience.
Dude i tried Human Revolution: Directors Cut and it’s seems to be working quite well. It was one of the first games i tried and i couldn’t configure it properly that time. For your control problems i suggest to partially override the controller: both sticks but not the button. Then fine tune the sensibility of each sticks until it works well and do the same with head tracking sensibility. About the visual performance, i am getting very good results with gtx970. I set the resolution to 1920×1440, Fov 110, asyncronous time warp deactivated, lowered in game details. Then do the usual things like adjust the 3d strenght and image zoom. I just played a bit, i need further testing but i would say that this way it was working very well, and the game looked and sounded better than ever in this new prospective. I hope the vr gameplay will keep up but everything seems good so far!

May 29, 2016 at 6:11am #103005In reply to: Amazing trick to REALLY IMPROVE EXEPRIENCE
MarcoParticipantI just tried the resolution 1920×1440. It performs much better than any other combination tried so far, especially the suggested 1280 x 1024. My suggestion is to make clear the resolution matter here in the forum and directly in the software because i think that suggesting 1280 x 1024 can be misguiding. I see that with lower resolution games performs slightly better but looks too much worse to be a fair trade and someone may get a wrong impression about your fantastic software.
In 1920×1440 games such Dishonored, Aliens:Colonial Marines, Bioshock Infinite runs very well on my Gtx970 and Vive, looking almost as good as native VR titles! Well done!!!!!!!

MattParticipantI have the FOV set at 120 and the 1st person FOV set at 140. I’m using the enhanced camera mod as well. It looks better as you said but not quite right yet..Can you suggest a specific mod or mods that will fix the giant arms issue? I am so close to Skyrim VR! Bioshock Infinite, Alien Isolation, and Dishonored have been a blast. I can’t wait to get started with Skyrim. I see so many other mods I want to install I just need to fix these big arms!! Thanks in advance.
