    Hello matteo39.

    use z-normal 3d, with your videocard…

    Why?

The 1080 Ti is an old card without RTX but it is able to do near 60 Fps in 1440p in Ultra Quality mode. If I go down to Medium Quality I need to be able to do 60 Fps in VR on my Quest.

Yup, can confirm, 4090 works well in all VorpX titles I’ve tried except Cyberpunk. Not sure if its the mod or game but quickly rotating the viewpoint really hurts ones eyes and brain.

Sounds as if the game script portion of the mod might not kick in correctly, maybe an incomplete mod install or missing write access to your Cyberpunk folder (an its sub folders).

    Hello,

Thank you for your version for Cyberpunk but I can’t get the mod to work in Full VR.
I only have a virtual flat screen locked to my view. I tried to reinstall with all the latest versions but without success.

    Here is my config:

    – Windows 10 up to date
    – GTX 1080 Ti with Nvidia drivers up to date
    – Oculus Quest with Link up to date
    – Cyberpunk 1.61
    – Vorpx alpha 8

Can you tell me what’s wrong?

    Thanks

Thank you! That was indeed the issue. It’s a bit more complicated, but switching to Fast + the Multi-thread option resolved the problem. Currently I’m at 75hz at 1/2 Sync, 4K with RT (ultra) and It’s just about rock-solid. Also trying it with the PiTool Motion Smoothing (so vorpX smoothing off) and that also appears to be working, for now. (There are *huge* issues with Pimax smart-smoothing currently. They tried to implement a 1/3 rate, but provided no means to turn that rate off. So you can’t limit it to 1/2 rate. Instead it will auto-switch to 1/3 and back whenever it wishes to do so, which is often when it is unnecessary. It’s entirely over-aggressive when determining when to use the 1/3 rate. Also, the Pimax 1/3 rate is absolutely awful, making the entire Smart Smoothing “feature” useless most of the time. No idea why it actually seems to be working Cyberpunk+vorpX, but only more testing will tell for sure if it’s reliable or not.)

Ultimately, at 90hz + 1/2 rate the only thing that got rid of microstuttering was the Judder protect mode, even though looking at the performance metrics I should have been fine. I’ll have to give it a try again later once the 4090 drivers are a bit more mature.

TLDR: If you already have a 3080Ti or better, consider holding out for the 4090Ti.

The 4090 is *almost* good enough in VR (and vorpX) to justify the MSRP (definitely not scalper prices.) In extremely poorly-optimized titles (F04vr, I’m looking at you!) the difference is massive (Small FOV 60hz to Normal FOV 75hz!) In titles that already ran well, the difference is less, or at least far less important (TWDS&S will run Wide FOV, 150% SS, 90hz/90fps rock-solid, but as it already ran fantastic on the 3080Ti it just isn’t a big deal.) LoneEcho 2 also got a great uplift (small FOV 60hz everything set to low or mid, to Normal FOV 60hz with a number of options cranked up.)

In vorpX titles I gained the expected performance uplift as well (FO3 at 4800×3000 G3D 60hz? Anyone? Anyone? Man it looks good!) So the raw performance of the card does seem to be translating well to performance through vorpX as well (I’m having one issue, but that’s specific to the stand-alone Cyberpunk mod, not vorpX as a whole.)

At $999 it would be a no-brainer, but at $1600+? IMHO it’s just not quite enough bang for the buck.

A bit of feedback from me after updating to a 4090. I’ll put some other results in a different thread:

The stand-alone vorpX CyberpunkVR mod absolutely refuses to push my GPU when I am sending to my Pimax 8K-X. CPU usage is fine; I’m not being CPU limited as far as I can tell. All is good when I’m pushing with main version of vorpX to my 3D display instead of my HMD. (I have yet to update my profile database – so I don’t think I have the latest profile for Cyberpunk however. I’ll try to find time to test that soon.)

It does do a very smooth job of things in “Judder Protect” mode, but FPS is pretty low as I’m peaking at about 60% GPU usage. The result is that my performance uplift over my 3080ti is not as great as it should be. A number of settings also refuse to stick and/or seem to be ignored. It reverts to AFR each time for example. The GUI reads Z-Normal, but it isn’t actually using that. I have to flip it back and forth once and then it is fine. Not a big deal. The motion smoothing is also sticking “ON” even when I try to turn it off.

At this point this looks to be specific to the full MOD. Everything I run through regular vorpX got a considerable performance uplift, and Cyberpunk itself got a considerable uplift except when running through your mod. Native VR games also got the expected uplift (mostly.)

P.S. If you add an above/below mode to your 3D Display support, instead of just SBS, I will buy you a pint of Old Peculiar.

With a fresh install of CyberPunk and the VR mod, the game does not seem to accept input from the Index controllers once I pass the gesture controls tutorial. The gestures tutorial works fine.

I can hold L grip, then R grab to open the VorpX menu and move the cursor fine within that menu, but once I close the VorpX menu, CyberPunk itself does not recognize any input from my Index controllers. I’ve made sure to hop out of the headset and clear the message that is overlayed on the flat screen just in case that was blocking input, but to no avail.

Plugging in an Xbox controller, the game correctly switches over to “controller mode,” and input works fine for the Xbox controller. I’ve also tried swapping between SteamVR and OpenXR in the Configure CyberPunk VR app without any luck. Keyboard/mouse input works fine. However, my main draw to the VorpX version of the Cyberpunk VR mod are the motion controls/gestures, so I’d love to sort out the issue.

    Thanks.

Version alpha 8 is now available. This update adds compatibility with Cyberpunk 2077 1.61.

Faster than expected, luckily everything required for a new C++/game scripting communication method was already largely in place on the vorpX side, so the hardest part was figuring out what caused the issue and coming up with an idea to deal with it.

Okay, quick update on the matter since i installed my 4090 today.
First, it’s seems like a monster and a big upgrade from my 3090 (FE) even without DLSS 3.0.
I couldn’t test DLSS 3 yet, but i’m running Cyberpunk 2077 (VorpX version, not the dedicated VR mod, so it’s only Z3D) everything maxout at 4k with DLSS 2.0 set on “balanced”, and it’s butter smooth with a detailed image.
I’m using a reverb G2 and the biggest limitation seemed the refresh rate (90hz only).
While driving the fasted car at high speed, i had some regular stutter which seemed to be loading a new zone. I will test further about this stuttering.

Seems like DLSS 3.0 need the new update so i will download it tonight and test tomorrow.
I will test later with the dedicated VR mod, real 3D should be more impacting than Z3D.

Outside VorpX, i tested Resident Evil 2 VR (Praydog mod) to try the raytracing version… it seems like the 4090 just don’t give a damn : 4k everything maxed out, even rendered the game at 130% in the lab, i don’t think i lost much FPS from 100%
Again, it seems that my headset’s refresh rate is the biggest limitation.

This was short tests sessions as i didn’t have much time after work.

I’ve had Vorpx for a few years and would love to be able to play a full game with it. A handful of times I’ve tried various games in full VR mode (Cyberpunk 2077, Witcher 3, KCD, Vampyr, Oblivion), it’s pretty cool to be able to be in those worlds in VR. However, I can’t ever seem to last more than a few minutes before I get extremely queasy. I have a 3080ti and the performance appears acceptable.

I have fairly solid VR legs and I play SkyrimVR/fo4VR and other VR games regularly. Are these games not meant to be played in full VR and more in theatre mode? I get sick even if I am not moving very much in the scene. Any suggestions welcome.

Software offers generic 3d monitor or 3d device output and it will display side by side on your monitor that can be streamed to phone (but since its squished in half by that it wont be as good and as clear as vorpx+real vr headset)

As for try – there is a free mod for cyberpunk, but dont know if you can run that game and if vorpx can output sbs in a free mod as that setting is in vorpx control UI that is part of full software.

Other than that there are no demos or refunds for vorpx.

    Hello!

I’m trying to resolve an issue with no display in the headset (HTC Vive).
I’m trying to run FFXIV via VorpX, got a hook handler, game launches just fine.
But in my headset I can only hear the game audio but no visuals. I see only the default SteamVR background. I’ve tried windowed mode, borderless and fullscreen but to no avail. Game is configured to run on dedicated graphics display (as well as Vive is) and I have no other display than this.
This does not happen on different titles such as Cyberpunk.
Anyone had dealt with something like this?

    Cheers!
