By default, because VorpX uses head-tracking to control where you’re looking by generating virtual mouse movements, it also has to emulate the controller – I think Fallout 4, like many games, doesn’t allow simultaneous mouse and conroller input.

However, there is an experimental feature in VorpX for Fallout 4 only which gets round this. Call up the Vorpx in-game menu (default key is ‘Delete’), use the left/right arrow keys to get to the head-tracking menu, then down arrow to ‘Start direct tracking scan’ and enter. After a pause and a hitch in your view it’ll suddenly rotate your character. Ten you’ll probably find head-tracking is more accurate, and also that the controller works as intended.

I’m using an HTC Vive and I was able to get Fallout 4 to run and tried the original Doom game, which isn’t listed as a supported game but still worked. But I cannot get Black Mesa to work. I tried to search the web and these forums but couldn’t get any information. The game runs normally when I launch it so I assume that vorpX isn’t injecting any files in the game. Does it simply not work at all and I should stop wasting my time trying, or is there a solution? Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Hi,

unfortunately, I am not able anymore to play fallout 4 using vorpX since steam patched F4 the 27th june …

Vorpx runs fine with other applications/game, but seems not detecting at all Fallout 4.

I use an oculus rift on my side, on windows 10.
    My current version of fallout4.exe : 1.5.416

Is someone, can test F4 since last patch of 06-27 and can give a feedback to me ?

    thanks,

    Ld

    Hi guys,
I’m new to Vorpx but I have been able to get Vorpx working on Fallout 4. My issue is that when I play the game without vorpx the controller prompts are there, i.e. press ‘A’ to Jump. Also when talking to NPC’s I can select A, B, X, Y dialog options with no problem. If I play Fallout 4 in Vorpx I don’t see the controller prompts but I see keyboard and mouse prompts instead. Also when talking to NPC’s my right anolog stick becomes a mouse???
I.m not sure what to do to get this to work properly but any help would be welcome.

    Thanks.

    My setup:
    CV1 Oculus Rift
    Controller: wireless Xbox One Gamepad.

    Hi,

I’m having trouble getting vorpx to work on my DK2.

If I enable head tracking, the screen rotates wildly and out of control on my headset. This happens in the desktop viewer and in all the games I’ve tried (GTA V and Fallout 4).

This doesn’t happen in the health warning, in the oculus store or in native oculus games.

Here’s a video where I am turning head tracking on and off from inside the desktop viewer:

My oculus software version is 1.5.0.240083 (1.5.0.241049).

Trying to improve the image quality on Fallout 4 (even at fairly short distances it was a blurry mess), I set VorpX to geometry rendering and boosted resolution to 1680×1200. I also disabled the in-game antialiasing.

While the image was much sharper, foliage and dead scrub became a flickering, shimmering blur that was very unpleasant. I tried turning on MSAA in Nvidia control panel, but this seemed to have no effect.

To avoid too many hours re-inventing the wheel, does anyone have any suggestions about how to keep the image clear while avoiding unwanted aliasing? My game framerates fell to about 40, which I know is too low, but I’m hoping if I can figure out how to balance sharpness and antialiasing then I’ve got a point to start balancing overall image quality and framerate.

    Many thanks.

Fallout 4 seems to be okay now without running Vorpx. The hud is back in position and I can properly move the cursor about. The only problem is that it’s still broken if I run Vorpx.

I cannot play Amnesia Dark Descent at all. Both eyes get flashing flickering of the game and the frame rates is so low it would be less than 1 frame per second. Im running win 10 64 bit. AMD fx-8350 Black edition and an R9 390x video card. Quake 2 does the exact same thing. I have tried many settings to no avail. Games like Skyrim and fallout 4 run just fine. It seems to be a possible issue with Open GL not really sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey guys just because I have not seen what the actual solution to this is. The bad screen flickering in geometry mode. It happens for me when I am all the way down on graphics. I cannot figure out what is causing it. Is it my set up alone?

    6600k i5
gtx 970 (want to sli soon, in a week or so, but only one right now)
    16gb viper ram

Geometry is so much more convincing and it just wasn’t happening during the intro but once emerging from the vault flickers all day everyday every second

I’m not sure if this feature is available, but would it be possible to get a hotkey that we can press to switch between each 3D modes when in game.
I’m playing Fallout 4 and I switch between Geographic and Z-Adaptive depending on performance. It’s a little tedious to have to press Delete, and then scroll through the options.
    Thanks

I’ve got Fallout 4 working in geometry 3D almost perfect now, however there seems to be a weird glitch around people and some objects.
It’s almost like large pixels around them.
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?
    Thanks

    Heya,

I bought VorpX a few weeks ago and am having a ball in my Vive with it playing Fallout 4 and Skyrim. Now my problem is in the Virtual Cinema mode. I am using VLC with my Vive and it works great for most movies. But I can’t change any Virtual Cinema settings. For example I want to change the background in the Virtual Cinema to no Background, but I can’t find the settings to do so! In games, I press the DEL key and I can change all the settings I want, but in Virtual Cinema mode, I can only change the volume. And when I press the DEL key, nothing happens!

I also want to watch SBS 3D movies in VLC. When I play them through the VorpX Virtual Cinema, the movie plays, but it’s in 2 side by side windows, not interleaved as one. Again, pressing the DEL key does nothing. What am I missing here? I haven’t found any info in the VorpeX configs about what key to use in the Virtual Cinema mode to change anything.

    Help!

Fallout MODS (Using Nexus Mod Manager)

    • Ultimate Engine by Extark
    • Interiors Enhanced – Darker Ambient Light and Fog by fadingsignal
    • Bullet Time – Slow Time by registrator2000
    • Lower Weapons (for more screen space)
    • FO4 Hotkeys by registrator2000 (override VATS with BulletTime, also override “Xenon_Select” to not change FOV and press Insert for edge peek from controller)
    • Fallout 4 – Texture Optimization Project by torcher (for speed)

I also use JoyToKey to make the “select” button on the joypad trigger “EdgePeek”. This is quite a bit of setup, but the effects are pretty fantastic.

Are there any other settings out there that others have tried?
