FYI – F1, F2 and F3 work to move through the different pipboy menus. I mapped these to the D pad since I don’t use weapon hotkeys there and it’s working well.

Finally have it running good enough to be playable. For getting out of console screens I use the FOSE command line “cam” for close all menus, it’s relatively quick and easy to do. Can’t seem to click the red ‘power’ button to get out otherwise.

I was mad the first time I had to do it to lol but its not a big deal after you get it down. xpadder is good but I like joy 2 key better, is just easier to get things like double buttons working for me. 2 tips are to do all your set up outside the rift and also it may be easier to set up a profile with kb+m how ever you like with what ever keys you like inside joy 2 key. Then change the in game set up with your new custom mapped pad. Sometimes this is easier then going back and forth trying to match the mapping.

It now has a default of 3D edge peek with ambience mode. You can adjust all this in game with vorpX menu (del). You can switch back to flat or zoom in and out. Not sure the hotkeys work but I never zoom with them. They should, maybe they changed, you can chck in the hotkey section in vorpX config tool.

I have the same issue with recording turning on and off. I tried changing the hotkeys in gta and still no luck. Not sure what to do other then just let it fill up but it would be cool if it worked.

Yup its messed up, even if you assign the proper keys in VorpX or assign all buttons to some neutral key. But it sounds like it will be fixed eventually.

Hopefully soon too because its already amazing even with the limited ability to play.

I bought Vorpx last year and haven’t bothered updating since v0.7.1.0. The site says to upgrade, I need to use a weblink. I’ve had a look in the emails I received when registering the product, but there’s no weblink there (just the product registration keys). So how do I upgrade?

One way to make the pipboy easier to navigate is a mnod called pipboy menu tabbing hotkeys:
    http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/50870/?

This one is for NV but there mite be a Fallout 3 equivalent. It lets you navigate the menus with your movement keys. Also in the forums a guy mentioned that 3 of the “F” buttons are already mapped to the menus I just don’t remember what f buttons they are.
If you cant find a Fallout 3 mod that does the same thing you could probably get someone who knows the GECK to port it maybe.

I use a controller but I remap it all to keyboard and mouse to better work with vorpX setup (and a lot of mods don’t have controller options anyway). I use 2 PlayStation move navigation controllers but the set up is still more or less the same idea as a 360 controller.

That’s an unfortunate side effect of setting the mouse mode in GTA V to “Windows” instead of “Raw Input”. Changing it back to “Raw Input” should get rid of it.

Alternatively you can still use the menu with the cursor keys, but that’s also not ideal, as you have to hold your head completely still.

I’ll look into a way of circumventing this, but can’t promise anything yet.

For now “Raw Input” is the way to go for comfortable vorpX menu usage.

Ok, makes sense. I’m using a wireless 360 controller with MS drivers.

Ya, I am using HUD scaling, set to 40% I think to get the other menus looking good and readable. I’ll experiment with the alt-mousewheel adjusement when in the pipboy, that might be part of the problem.

Can’t quite figure how to setup xpadder to allow full control of the pipboy with the gamepad. Other forums and example mappings indicate it might not be possible. The native support for the gamepad in fallout handles this behind the scenes, e..g LT/RT change between menus but have other functions when not in the pipboy. When 360 controller is disabled and the game goes to keyboard/mouse controls, I don’t think there’s a dedicated, mappable button set for pipboy menu navigation.

Last night I just ran it w/out headtracking using native 360 controller support through the game and it was pretty awesome. Head tracking and gamepad would be best since I always played this game with a gamepad and find it easier than hunting for keys with the oculus on, but considering this game was never meant for VR it’s hard to complain too much considering that in general it does work mostly OK.

Makes one appreciate the thought that went into the detailed mapping configuration options that went into a game like Elite Dangerous, and all the other things they did to allow smooth operation in VR.

It’s going to be awesome when more games build in official support. Let’s hope fallout 4 is 1) as good as I’m hoping it will be and 2) has decent support for playing in VR. Apparently it’s supposed to be officially announced some time this year.

Went down to the Goodwill and picked up a Logitech 3D joystick for 9.99! Got it back and mapped it to the aircraft keys, works like a charm. It’s really cool to fly around and be able to look all around in the cockpit :) Now just need to find a steering wheel…

You can either press ESC first to pause the game which should give you normal mouse input or navigate the vorpX menu with the cursor keys and ENTER.

Yeah I can use the keys to at least move around the menu and adjust stuff. Sometimes those get stuck too though due to the head movement. I have a workaround I used to adjust settings but its a bit of a pain. Not that big of a deal as it’s only doing it with GTA V. That’s brand new so there’s probably many bugs and hidden things yet to find out. Just wanted to let you know encase it correlated with any other errors or something.

I have mouse cursor control in vorpX menu for about 10-15 seconds at start up then it gets stuck back in the center. My normal cursor works fine around the screen as well as everything else in vorpX works too. For some reason it gets sucked back to center. I think I changed something somewhere but I cant put my finger on it. Anyway I can use my workaround to tune it in for now.

If I understand the issue correctly that is something that can happen in some games while in the game.

In such cases you can either use the vorpX menu with the cursor keys and [ENTER] or hit [ESC] before opening the vorpX menu to get into the GTA menu screen (which has normal mouse input).

Remapping the keyboard to a gamepad proved to be very tricky and I gave up(after 3 hours of trouble shooting). The way GTA V key bindings work really leaves something to be desired. The way they have it so split up for different actions and the way you can’t use certain buttons more then once and the way you cant leave any key bindings “open” is really lame.. Anyway, so my usual trick isn’t going to do it this time.
Although the buttons I did get remapped worked its just to much to try to fit on one controller the way they make you bind keys in game.

Long story short, if you want to use a controller your stuck with the jittery right stick until a fix is found.
I’ll keep messing with settings to see if I can mitigate it any further.
