Thanks grumdark for the suggestion on MSAA however it still wont kick in to stereo 3d. I am not sure the 3d-z is working in other games either for me. Is farCry 4 a zbuffer game? If it is I also get no 3d. Also no luck with Metro 2033 redux. Geometry works fine where that is applicable. As you can see, I bought a lot of games on Steam’s summer sale to try with Vorpx :). So far Mirrors edge works well in geometry as well as Borderlands. I guess I could switch those to z-3d and see what happens. ill report back once I try them.

Well, I took my chances and bought Metro LL Redux on Steam Summer Sale and it paid off cause vorpX hooks up just fine in DX11 mode ;) So for anyone who can’t play Metro LL original in DX11…Metro LL Redux is the solution.

And it looks surprisingly good for Z-buffer, the image quality is much better than Metro 2033, even if it lacks the immersion and depth of DX9’s Geometry 3D.

Thank you for your input grumdark, you pushed me in the right way suggesting Redux version ;)

You can try to navigate to the following directory, depending on your version:
    C: \ Users \ “your user” \ AppData \ Local \ 4A Games \ Metro LL \ 1100001057a3590
    C: \ Users \ “your user” \ AppData \ Local \ 4A Games \ Metro Last Light \ 1100001057a3590

Open user.cfg Locate and change the following lines:
    r_api 0 to r_api 2 (0 for DX9,1 for DX10,2 for DX11)

Locate r_base_fov line X and X to change the Desired value.
    r_base_fov x to r_base_fov 89.99900055

No write superior value fov, that reset the FOV.

    Apart from this,in vorpx ingame menu,adjust value zoom desired and/or aspect ratio,(my preferred pixel 1:1+zoom adjustment or letterbox1+zoom adjustment)enabled black smear,3d z normal,e.t.c.
    Good luck,Greetings.

Metro Last Light Redux is now on Steam Summer Sale at -75 % price offer, so it is very attractive :) I would buy it if I was 100 % sure vorpX hooks in DX11 mode, because if it doesn’t, as it happens with Metro Last Light (original), than it’s a waste of money.

DX11 in Z-buffer with higher 3D-strength and FOV adjustments is still pretty good, as I experienced in BF3, BF4 or Stalker Lost Alpha…of course Geometry 3D is way better, but I prefer to play it with reduced 3D immersion in DX11 if there’s no other choice. Is there something special that needs to be done in order to get vorpX to hook in DX11 mode ? Cause I tried everything…

exact,it is.Metro Last Light, is broken in this moment.
I also reported this problem several times, but no luck.
I had a chance to test it in DX11 with (3d z-buffer)…but the difference is huge.3d Geometry was fantastic in these games.

However, when you try to use dx9 the game directly produces black screen(in vorpx),therefore, it is impossible to use 3D geometry in dx9 at this time.
Only solution for now is to use DirectX11 and 3d z-buffer, and honestly, for this … is preferable to use last light redux.

It’s a shame, because they are two of the best titles that can be enjoyed in virtual reality with driver 3d,but Metro Last Light need a review on vorpx …

    PD:Only Metro 2033 dx9 works correctly in geometry,LL and redux nothing(only z)

VorpX does not hook to Metro Last Light for me in DX11. It looks like 2 separate monitors and there is no vorpX menu when pressing Del. I launched it directly from Steam and then created a desktop shortcut for MetroLL from vorpX tray icon, switched between “Use system settings” (Rift as primary display) and “Show on Rift DK2” (Rift as secondary display) and get the same result. I also tried all applicable steps from “basic troubleshooting” section of the forum, same result. The only time it worked was on DX9, only once and I had no Geometry 3D option, only Z-buffer, but after I exited and launched the game again I always got the black screen freeze.

I finished Metro 2033 with no problems on DX9 and Geometry 3D so it would be a shame not to be able to continue the saga. I understand that DX9 either triggers the black screen freeze or doesn’t work in Geometry 3D but I want to play it at least in DX11 with Z-buffer. I am on Radeon GPU, latest drivers installed, Oculus runtime 0.5.0.1, Windows 8.1 64bit.

    Please help

As I suspected, it differs from game to game and from one 3D reconstruction method to the other (Z-buffer/Geometry 3D). After finishing BF4 campaign, I started setting up Metro 2033 and tried to apply vorpX settings from BF4.

Metro 2033 allows Geometry 3D in DX9 mode, which is a way better 3D reconstruction method than Z-buffer and setting IPD to 60.75 (as in BF4) was completely off, I had a cross-eyed / double image, so I had to re-calibrate and 64 (the default male average) was where I ended up being the best value, as for any native VR supported game. As for the other settings, I had 3D-Strength to 2.00 and 3D FOV Enhancement to 0.30 (besides setting 90 FOV in user.cfg file) and that resulted in a perfect scale / FOV, absolutely no “zoomed-in” effect. No image zoom or 2D FOV Enhancement were required as in BF4’s case.

So having the ideal settings for the best scale / FOV and resolving the “zoomed-in” issue, depends on the game you’re playing, 3D reconstruction method, personal preference and perception. And of course setting the FOV from game’s options (if any) or using an external tool is an absolute must. The fact that vorpX has all these useful options to set the best possible VR image is goddamn amazing! So thank you Ralf ;)

Ok Ralf,I understand that, but the problem of UI/GUI is only one of several problems.

Anyway, when I write (UI scale / depth)is just an example,I refer to the HUD is not visibly represented in dk2.
If to achieve this, use an alternative method such as at the entry tweak optimizer u other,I also served well.(This is just an example…)

Also I made sure to appoint in the aforementioned games, titles that are operating today in oculus dk1/dk2(with visible hud)with other current or former 3d driver.
As this is the forum vorpx and not that of other drivers, at first I prefer not to be naming them, what I mean is that you can change the HUD safely (except possibly two or three titles mentioned)
I checked, but prefer to use vorpx for other extra features.

Edge peek mode is a good choice for a specific time, but when a player has to observe a minimap for example, this is not the most appropriate, whenever possible change this.

Cinema virtual mode, I think so too, when no other option or choice, use thus less permissive games and also for third person games, but as I say, the games name most are games where and check before it possible (except two or three).
For me, the good part of the 3d drivers is to enjoy some titles in first person view,in virtual reality,at least those that are possible,as I have mentioned.
Cinema virtual mode,It is only a complement to my.

Apart from this, problems with Metro Last Light dx9,fallout 3/nv,and shadows in Far Cry 3…are separate issues, which could also see that there are solutions to this day working, but I can not implement my own hands vorpx in all cases.
For my limited knowledge, and parts of vorpx where I have no access.

The part that I do not like, is the knowledge that vorpx is the best tool, better than many people think, but not having a functional profiles or securities in cases where this if possible.(for vr mode)
Forcing just have to use another driver … for just a few simple changes.
    please,sorry my english.

FOV maximum value allowed by the game (Metro 2033) is 90.
One point more, you could reset the value.

If that was not enough to 90, you can increase a little in geometry, using the option 3d fov enhancement+Adjust the zoom joined this avoiding looking edges.

    Example:
This could be possible with the optimizer vorpx games (external configuration)
But if it fails for some reason …
    C:\Users\”your user”\AppData\Local\4A Games\Metro 2033
    Open user.cfg modify Sick_fov:90
    r_api:0 (force dx9)save changes.

    Menu vorpx ingame:
    3d reconstruction:Geometry
3d fov enhancement:0.30 (not much more,”may” produce glitch in some games)
    Separation (3d strength):2.90
    Fix chromatic aberration:ON.
    Fix black smear:ON.
    Aspect ratio correction:Pixel 1:1
    Image zoom:0.79
    2d fov enhancement:0.00

This is for normal version, redux geometry does not work.
    regards.

    Hey guys,

i have a strange problem. If i use the vorpx config for Metro 2033 the game crashes right at start (directly after clicking the .exe file).
The problem seems to be the fov. If i set the fov to a value over 75 (vorpx config sets it to 120) then the game will crash immediatly. If i set it to 75 or below the game is working fine.
    Any suggestions?

Ok, thank you. I will try out a few other games from the list. I hope the Metro games work well because i think they could be awesome.

Ok. I guess it was more on my part. If I made my primary monitor the rift and started metro 2033 in the rift then it would display. But I thought a update on vorpx fixed that so starting a game would just make it go direct into the rift. It does that for fallout new vegas and skyrim, so I thought something was wrong with the game. I guess I just have to mess with the settings now because the image is just way too zoomed in to feel right. Even when I max out the FOV then it looks like I and everyone else are the size of the hulk.

Hopefully someone can help me out. Metro 2033 will load up in vorpx on the monitor but doesn’t display anything in the oculus. The game is set to DX9.

thank you got it working, but after all that I’m quite disappointed with the 3D effects of it. The depth is very flat. but maybe i have been spoilt by playing games like Alien Isolation and Elite Dangerous.

Then again Metro 2033 looks great with lots of depth.

I bought this thinking I could play the games listed but calling this a vr 3d is pushing it.

All games are zoomed in so its impossible to go through the menu. Trying too zoom out via the “delete” menu works but takes away the vr feeling when it looks like the screeen is far away. Also the settings screen dissapears and can not be opened again. Only opens agin if I restart the game.

Tried BF4 = Doesn´t work. It also have som graphical glitches when I have klicked around without seeing anything and suddenly started the game.
Metro 2033, Last light redux = Same
FarCry = Crashes all the time but supposes it works like in the other games, Doesn´t work
COD: Advanced warfighter = see all above.

Tried the built in optimizer….. Did nothing.

All this driver does is showing the picture in the Rift. To bad it does it so bad.

I have gooled and searched forums but since the “delete” menu dissaperars it´t impossible to try.
