That’s good news!
By “ok” do you mean everything works fine, as expected? Or have you noticed any minor problems when using it with vorpX?
I’m jealous :) … I want to try one of these. I think the unique FOV shape would be ideal for most vorpX fullVR games.
Yeh everything works as expected. No problems. Lol at being jealous :) no doubt in the not too distant future the Aeros display will be equalled or even bettered in new upcoming hmd’s which won’t be $2k so most people will get to experience it.
Thank you for the update! Can you give any examples of games that you’ve played in Vorpx with the Aero that look way better than the Reverb G2? Are you able to use the foveated rendering with Vorpx? Do you notice you get higher frame rates? Any general positive reactions to the Aero that you can share so we can vicariously enjoy this experience with you?
The games i’ve been playing recently with Vorpx are the Fallout series, Alien Colonial Marines, the Metro series, Dying Light 2, the Stalker series of games. I wouldn’t say they look “way” better than a G2, the Aero is 4x the price of a G2 but its not 4x times better. But it is a definite and noticeable improvement in display quality.
My fave games in the Aero are the Fallout games, everything maxxed out like draw distance and Vorpx quality on Phenomenal, it looks great. You can see details, like npc’s, in the distance. You can make out details in things and u don’t need to be close up to do this.
I wanted to say.. thank you!!! I really like Cyberpunk 2077, but this game really lacked VR, it was even strange to play a game about the future, new technologies, on a flat-screen when we already live in the VR era. With VR, it’s something mind-blowing, especially after adding gestures. An unusual futuristic cyberpunk world, city, technology, futuristic cars, and all this is not somewhere on the screen but in front of you! – I love VR for that. Thank you again :)
PS I have Vorpx and it’s cool, but can you do similar VR mods for other games? Dying Light 2, Metro Exodus, etc. I would even be willing to pay for each similar mod on the full-price of a new game (20-60$).
PPS sorry for my English, I’m from the CIS
I bought Metro 2033 Redux on Steam for a few pounds, it works fine, so it looks like GOG version was the problem.
Yeh for Metro 2033 (non redux version) Vorpx changes the FOV correctly so it works ok. That google spreadsheet I linked above is wrong I think.
I’ve restarted it 3 times, no luck. I don’t recall seeing the FOV tweak & restart message when I first started it. I’m using GOG version. I’ve checked vorpx local and cloud profiles for this game and I don’t think they exist – they exist for “Metro 2033” but my game is the enhanced version, “Metro 2033 Redux”.
There’s profiles for “Metro Redux” but I think they are for Metro Last Light Redux (there were 6 base games in the series; Metro 2033, Metro 2033 Redux, Metro Last Light, Metro Last Light Redux, Metro Exodus, Metro Exodus Enhanced).
EDIT: When i go into vorpx restore game settings, Metro 2033 Redux is not there. I’m downloading Metro 2033 (non redux version) to see if it works, i think it will.
According to :
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/0/d/17I07-RpOsVpc1XzswJ4zobAisT0ouoONXeNwGDjqDI0/htmlview#gid=0
it does but when i try it only 1 of the 3 categories appears in the directvr scan, i think only rotation works. The positional and fov categories don’t even appear. Directvr works brilliantly in the other metro games (metro last light redux, metro exodus).
Can anyone test this? Ralf? Or if u have the game?
then i have this problem.
I have to play Mass Effect 3 Legendary edition. the executable file is called masseffect3.exe. Just like the normal version executable. Now, in order to make it work with vorpx I had to rename the executable to masseffect31.exe, as it works with the default masseffect 1 LE profile. And here comes the problem. To be able to use the MOD for the first person I can’t modify the executable otherwise the game won’t even start anymore. I realize that it is a problem to change the default profiles, to avoid that non-expert users find themselves with problems that they would not know how to solve, but you cannot give the possibility to expert users to be able to do it? I have had similar problems with other games, a prime example is with metro exodus enchanted edition, which has the same executable file as the profile of the normal version and I had to modify the executable to be able to hook it with vorpx.
It’s not bad in cinema mode but it’s clear that a real 3D would be cool: o). We will see, thank you for your answer and your tests !!
I love all these little games like inside, little nightmare, (moss), metroid game and Styx: Master of Shadows ( very good ) … which are played in the third person !!
I just started with Vorpx (besides a few short tests in the past) with Metro: Last Light Redux, and I love it a lot!
I’m using the local Vorpx profile that was included in the latest version (Nov 2021).
But I have two issues and maybe these can be fixed?
– First one is that I’m seeing vertical colored bars/stripes at the bottom of my viewing angle. It’s not a deal breaker, but it’s a little annoying so it would be great if there was a way to solve this.
– Second one is giving me some trouble fully enjoying the experience for 100%. I play the game using my xbox controller (I never play with KB/M). Now, when I choose to use controllers as KB/M in the Vorpx menu, I can play and head tracking works great, including looking up and down using the joystick of the gamepad. But not all xbox controller keys are mapped, so there’s stuff I cannot do while playing. When I change the setting to use controllers as gamepad, all keys are mapped correctly and I can play the game perfectly, BUT, after this change, I cannot use the gamepad joystick to look up/down. This is annoying because after playing for a few minutes, the viewing angle can be up, or can be down. And re-centering doesn’t help. The only thing I can do is change from Full VR to another option (I think Immersive), then change the viewing angle with gamepad, then go back to Full VR. Very annoying, so I hope this can be fixed somehow?
Thanks!

Top list for me : Metro 2033 redux
for the enchanted edition, I uploaded a profile to the cloud that works well. Without g3d however.
<font style=”vertical-align: inherit;”><font style=”vertical-align: inherit;”>Il profilo funziona solo con il normale Metro Exodus, non con l’edizione migliorata.</font></font>
<font style=”vertical-align: inherit;”><font style=”vertical-align: inherit;”>Ok Grazie otterrà l’edizione normale.</font></font>
