Developer went offline? no reply in last one week!! Sent a mail also. Wanted to confirm that you will have my money if u add Vive support especially with Games Skyrim , Need for Speed series and Grid 2, Titanfall etc!! I used Tridef 3d now but they dropped VR support fully, So its your chance to make use of the empty market Space!!! So bad for them and good for you!!!!

I have good news for you. You will be able to run tridef games in virtual desktop steam app. It support sbs games and you have head tracking from virtual desktop. tridef milked money and invested in something else. I am also waiting to hear that vive is supported here and I will play gladly for good work.

Hey, I hope I’m not being a bother by resurrecting this thread. It was said by Ralf that the main issue with developing a Phone or DIY supported driver would be that it wouldn’t do streaming, head tracking or lens correction. I signed up just now to point out that programs such as TrinusVR accomplish these tasks quite well! At only 8$ for the full version TrinusVR would be the ideal companion for Mobile Phone VorpX ‘experience’. Just add TrinusVR or other software as a requirement for VorpX to work with Phones.

TrinusVR uses either wifi or USB tethering to stream content. With either compression settings or the right tweaks on your computer you can get a very playable stream on most phones.

TrinusVR has its own open source head tracking protocol that could be introduced into VorpX. It also can output in OpenTrack and TrackIR protocols as well (without the need for downloading either program). Therefore, if you only implemented TrackIR *input* you would end up supporting almost every head tracker currently on the market.

TrinusVR has pretty excellent CUSTOMIZABLE lens correction built into it. It takes SBS formatted images (un distorted) and applies a number shaders from barrel distortion, position, angle, zoom, chromatic distortion. This way you can set your own lens correction for any HMD. Already done by someone else!

I’ll point out here that I’m not at all affiliated with Trinus, I’ve simply been a big fan of VR since the late 80’S(!) and have been waiting WAY too long for some VR done right and affordable.

I hope there is a way, or will be soon, for us non Rifters to begin supporting VorpX as the ‘de facto’ source for all 3D stereo and VR needs. If you permit ONLY THE DISPLAY and rendering options and I would happily invest in seeing where your project goes! Cheers! Sean

Thanks, limiting the FPS helped, it seems it really was the GPU usage :)

But I have one more question, what could be causing this

It’s like the right image is lacking one frame behind and flickering, when I have sbs selected in certain programs.

Not sure about your MPC issue, normally it should be displayed in the virtual cinema. Did you apply the Game Optimizer setting for MPC? It selects a suitable video renderer. If that fails, select “EVR (custom preset)” manually in the MPC options.

For 3D videos you have to select the content type on the image page of the vorpX ingame menu. You can choose between mono, sbs and over/under, and also swap left/right if necessary.

If auto setting the FOV fails for some reason, you may have to resort to doing it manually. For many games googling for “fov game name” yields short tutorials. And if there is no way at all for a game, you might have to resort to one of the workarounds that vorpX provides. Please check the Essential Game Hints in the vorpX help for details.

I like Vorpx .9 thus far (first day using it). The virtual theater looks stunning. No luck getting 3d movies (mkv) to play in stereoscopic 3d though. Videos appear as left/right image. Tried the recommendations… latest VLC, nightly MPC… MPC-HC disables the head-tracking and oculus display as soon as i run it. When I close mpc, vorpx virtual theater returns along with head-tracking. VLC displays the video in virtual theater but not in stereoscopic and the VLC menu is not available. Also can’t bring up the vorpx options when video is playing.

For games I tried so far:

I used the vorpx game optimisations for each game I tried but the FOV still looks way too zoomed in on each game. Alv-V or F11 don’t do anything for respective games.

Yeah, I’m having the exact same problem. I can get videos to hook when using VLC but I can’t get the in-game menu to work so I can’t enable SBS 3D. I can’t get anything to hook at all when using MPC-HC (tried x86 and x64), even after resetting all settings and re-applying the game optimizer settings.

    OS: Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit
    Graphics Cards: GTC 970 x 2 (SLI)
    Drivers: 358.78
    VLC: 2.2.1 w/ OpenGL Output
    MPC-HC: 1.7.9 x86 w/ EVR Custom Renderer

I also uninstalled all video codecs (was previously using K-Lite) to see if that would change anything, but it did not.

Let me know if I can provide any more information to help look into this issue.

yes I tried with vorpx desktop viewer.
I put on SBS and removed the zoom but the picture is somewhat distorted unless I put ratio 4:3 or 5:4

    I would do with.

Hi Ralf, and thanks for your great work.

I have a quick (and probably stupid) question: How do I watch SBS or OU 3D movies with Vorpx? Whether I use VLC or MPC, I actually get the double image on the virtual living room’s screen, not a 3D one.

What am I doing wrong/not doing? I must admit I have no idea how to setup either of those softs for 3D.

As for games, I’ll have to try and experiment with as many titles as I can. Only tried Skyrim and it was horrible. Probably not your fault :)

Yeah, I just tried Star Citizen with a SBS program for the Oculus and that simply does not work and playing on a flat monitor just sucks lol. I cannot see objects my ship will collide with while strafing.

Hi, I think vorpx, is a 3d fantastic tool.
however, much like I see some of these improvements or ideas.
Is there any possibility to include?
In this far these are for me the most important.
(sorry english it’s not my native language ;)

1:I would like to vorpx, option to enable/disable extra croshair from the menu ingame vorpx. One optional crosshair,or laser point to solve some problems in stereoscopic cases.(You could even customize form and color …)
This may require disable/ignore the current crosshair or laser point, depending on the game, but I think it would be a fantastic choice,to help in different cases.

2:Another idea that I would love, is the inclusion of an extra option in the menu ingame vorpx:
Player/weapon fov-adjustable,that could work very well as a route for some games. In some cases, this can also act as it currently does in flawless widescreen.
And let after adjusting the size of weapons is significantly modified with separation 3d in some games, besides the distance between the camera and “weapon”.

3:Possibility of including a small tool, for users trying to support some 3D titles not currently supported.
Thus, some users are more involved helping to improve and expand the list of vorpx compatibility.

4:added main tab,in the current interface vorpx(external),offering the ability to add shorcuts,to launch games from here optionally.
(for example, steam shorcuts or .exe in directories, added and launch from this panel)

5:Include more options in the current optimizer game setting.
Example:More options for scaling UI/GUI in 3d z-modes,and subtitles above,(for other languages without translation of voices) where possible from the files in several cases.
Example (outlast, oblivion, vanishing ethan carter) are perfectly playable, except subtitulos. No have voices for all languages.

More types of fov, sometimes present (camerafov outlast example) etc.

    6:offer possibility 3d sbs mode(monitors,projectors and 3D TV)

    Sorry my english.
    Regards!

Registered just to thank you for Virtual Cinema mode. It is absolutely my favorite way to play all games on the rift. (I had been struggling with Virtual Desktop and Tridef in SbS mode but no longer.) This format has no motion sickness even at low frame-rates. I bought those games that vorpX supports that I didn’t have and having a great experience. Please, any past games you add to Virtual Cinema compatibility will be very much appreciated :)

Hi, I’m having an issue with Vorpx where games will just crash on load.

However, if I set my display/monitors in the config to be my regular monitor. I do see the sbs image, and the head tracking even works.

I am in extended mode, but have of course tried all other types.

I have a different headset that Oculus content looks ok in although just standard SBS 3D would be better. Does vorpX need to detect a rift to work? I also have a DK1, maybe just also plugging in the DK1 USB at the same time would be enough to get vorpX to detect a rift even though the HDMI would be plugged into a different headset?

If other headsets are an option for the future, might want to change the 1st sentence on the Features page from:

“vorpX is a 3D-driver for DirectX9-11 games that is specifically geared towards VR-devices like the Oculus Rift.”

    to

“vorpX is a 3D-driver for DirectX9-11 games that is currently specifically for the Oculus Rift.”
