Yeah Dishonored was one of my 1st games I used VorpX for and it is awesome. If you haven’t tried Bioshock Infinite that one is topnotch in VorpX too.

Mod support drives sales and they know it, all devs know it which is why devs add mod support if they can. I would add mod support to my own game if I could but that would require an intense rewrite of my entire game. There is no need to worry about whether the VR versions will allow for mods.

I do however believe that will be a need for mod authors to update their existing mods because it is obvious that made some serious changes to the engine. The PS4 does not have the power to run Skyrim in VR without major changes. The way the Current Skyrim handles drawcalls, physics, reflections, water, screenspace image effects, and dynamic shadows is not ideal for VR. Too much CPU stress holding back the GPU from hitting stable high FPS.

The fact that it is running smooth on the PSVR is proof they did some major rewrites.

Mods will most likely need to be updated.

Feeling good about the motion controls though as that may finally make Skyrim Combat as good as the rest of the game.

You wont be required to sell your games and software through the Oculus Store for the PC. They have have already publicly stated so. It smart to sell games through distribution platforms like the Oculus Store and Steam because they function as advertising, hosting and DRM for your your game but you can sell as many places as you want. Also side-loading on the Gear VR isn’t impossible. Its already been done with SideloadVR.

Here is one post from the oculus forums. Although reddit and guru3d also have postings.

The aspect ratio will be even weirder. On most websites they reported the resolution wrong its actually 2160×1200. It is 2x 1080×1200 panels not 2x 1200×1080. The panels are set to be taller so there is a higher up and down FOV. That said there might be more floating arm issue with the Vive being that a lot of games just render arms and not a body in 1st person. Can see it in some games just by raising the FOV. I hope that made sense.

Ok so I do the renaming a lot. Not all but some steam games just wont launch if their executable is renamed even if launched from the exe directly. It is unfortunate. Sometimes a retail box copy of the same game that is not installed through steam will work. For example renaming Singularity’s exe to udk worked for me because I was using an old retail box copy from before I even used steam. Others running the steam version were unsuccessful getting it to work.

If people have found a way around this for the unfortunate games that do not allow renaming like DMC, Killer is Dead, or Street Fighter IV I would love to know myself.

I don’t know what the red glow is, maybe you have an ENB running that uses a red filter or some other graphic mod. There are lots of posts related to Skyrim settings. If you read them all that will give you a good starting point to start your own tweaks.

Update: Renaming Metal Gear Rising’s executable to borderlands2 works well. Set to z-normal, stereo strength 200, letterbox 2, and zoom .80. It is playable and finding that camera mod would put it just over the edge to a recommended game.

So I Got a new one. Metal Gear Rising will work with Z3d if it is renamed to metro2033. Set the 3d strength to 200 and to letterbox 2. There is a camera mod that zooms it out but I cant find a link that is still up. Its called Wolfs camera mod. Geometry3d is messed up no matter what I rename the executable to. Though with different glitches depending on the name. If anyone finds one that works we can adjust the 3d FOV in the vorpx menu and we are in business. Without that or the camera mod the FOV is unplayable.

Kinda sounds like you have 3dvision discover(anaglyph) setup in your Nvidia control panel. Vorpx wont hook if it isn’t running, much less uninstalled, even more less in anaglyph red blue since it doesn’t do that.

Stereo3d gaming has never been easy. It has it’s own challenges. You should read all the official setup posts. With all games in Vorpx start by setting the FOV to 120 or the highest you can provided it is above 90 at least. Do this by ingame sliders, ini edits, console commands, the built in Vorpx game optimizer, Vorpx menu FOV adjustments, or programs like Flawless Widescreen or Widescreen Fixer. Since you are a developer you should be able to pick this stuff up very quick. In the Vorpx menu ingame try setting it to “Letterbox 2” I find that this combined with an FOV of 120 seems to eliminate any view distortion when looking around.

Next you will need to tweak your mouse sensitivity til it matches your headtracking. There are a number of ways to do this whether through the vorpx menu, the game menu, inis, xpadder mouse emulation, or a combination of all the techniques til it fits.

Then you need to set your graphics so you can maintain 75 fps at all times whether in combat or complex outdoor scenes. Use Z3D if you cannot maintain the framerates at the graphic detail you desire in Geo3d.

If it sounds like a lot of work sometimes it can be, but once you have it all setup correctly games in Vorpx are the best experiances you can have in the Rift. Bioshock Infinite or Borderlands 2 in Vorpx blow any demo out on Oculus Share out of the water.

For Skyrim and a gamepad it is better to just disable the 360 pad in Skyrim game menu and in the Vorpx ingame menu. Then use xpadder to map keyboard and mouse imputs to your 360 pad.

Lots of people charge for beta access. That is Steam greenlight and any other early access game like Elite Dangerous. Id rather get a chance to use Vorpx now with updates here and there rather than wait for CV1 release a year from now.

Grumdark has the right settings. Disappointing as it may be you are going to want to run vanilla Skyrim if you want to keep your fps at a playable rate while in outdoor areas in geo-3d. Graphic mods are only feasible if you are willing to run in z-3d. I have a 970 myself. Out door areas vary too widely in their demands. Keeping 75 fps in combat outdoors or in most towns in near impossible in geo-3d. That’s not Vorpx’s fault that is the game engine’s fault. Z-3d is the way to go for Skyrim. Although if Vorpx gets SLI support it would be easy. Problem is for most injector drivers SLI or Crossfire is not available. At least that was the case for Iz3d, Tridef, and Vireio. That was a big advantage Nvidia 3dvision had over it’s competitors. It might be different with VR injection drivers but that’s how Dual-GPU fared for stereo injection drivers.

TL:DR Use Z-3d and a FOV of 120 for Skyrim until better GPUs get released or Vorpx gets SLI support and then drop in another 970.

You are right you have to use the injector version. However the Grim and Somber Auzura ENB 264-50501-6-0-3 looks pretty awesome in the Rift.

Unfortunately I have a GTX 970 and even overclocked the game just cant keep up a high enough frame rate in outdoor areas (especially when enemies show up) with an ENB enabled. Some of the lighter ENBs maybe but the DK2’s screen is still too low res for the enhancements of those ENBs too show up in any real noticeable fashion. That and crash to desktop is like 10 times more likely to happen when the ENBs used in the Rift.

I spent 2 weeks tweaking and really trying to sort out the issue. Moral of the story is that Skyrim ENBs in the Rift are not worth the effort. When CV1 comes out and the massive Skyrim modding community gets involved you can bet it will be figured out in a month.

Call of Duty 1 is openGL. It is based off of IDTech3. None of the stereo injectors work with openGL.

Thanks for the heads up on Remember Me I was just thinking of buying it last week but didn’t want to chance it. I’m installing it now.
