HalloMolliParticipant
Alright, thanks Ralf.
@dellrifter22 good to know I am not the only one with this problem.HalloMolliParticipantSince I can’t edit my thread anymore: The error messages goes like this: OpenXR session init failed. This is a severe Error. Make sure that OpenXR is working on your PC correctly or switch to a different API.
Well, it’s only doing this with Witcher 3. If I start another Steam game with vorpx (for example Skyrim) it just works without any problems. Witcher 3, on the other hand, I can only run with SteamVR (which is a mess when it comes to performance).
HalloMolliParticipantcheck out these folks with their fancy HMDs
*chuckles* I know right?!
HalloMolliParticipant@ HalloMolli
or this one
Thanks! In fact, this one I have been using for quite some time now. And it’s true, you only have to rip the movie but it’s still rather annoying if you ask me.
On the quest 2 there is a movie theater with rental 3D movies and it works out of the box. Was hoping that at this time we would have something similar for pc as well.
HalloMolliParticipantWallstreet VR Fiasco because the tech isn’t there yet, maybe in 10 years or so when the headsets are as slim as normal glasses.
Honestly, all I need is a comfy headset with a bigger FoV (than my HP Reverb G2) and I will be very happy with the experience vorpX already provides.
So yeah, I have literally zero interest in the metaverse. The only thing that annoys me is that there is no netflix for 3D films at the moment. If you want to enjoy 3D movies on your PC, you still have to pirate and decode them very cumbersomely in order to be able to play them on your headset (it’s baffling that there hasn’t been any noticable progress since the start of VR in 2015, at least when it comes to the availability of high budget 3D movie content – aside from the movie theater on the quest that is). So I still see a need for action here. Other than that I am quite satisfied.
Jan 19, 2022 at 9:43am in reply to: Is playing a game and watching YouTube simultaneously possible? #209155HalloMolliParticipantNot with vorpX alone, but at least for SteamVR there are tools that can display a desktop window in VR. Forgot the names unfortunately…
Dear Ralf, you are absolutely right. In fact, I’ve been using Desktop+ (free tool on Steam) to achieve this. I play SteamVR games such as Eleven table tennis, SkyrimVR etc. while having a second window pop up with my browser so I can watch YT or netflix and everything works flawlessly. Even Oculus games work without any problems.
It’s only when I start vorpx (in the vorpx config tool I changed back to Steam VR since I use a WMR headset) the second window which I created with Desktop+ for this purpose freezes as soon as I start a game. It’s still there where I put it but unfortunately it’s frozen so it becomes unusable and I have not found a way to make it work with vorpx.
HalloMolliParticipantI am still busy with Skyrim but I’d love a G3D profile for the Legendary Edition anyway. Thanks for doing this, Ralf!
HalloMolliParticipantAlright! Thank you very much. This makes sense. Will give it another try tomorrow!
HalloMolliParticipantHey Ralf,
I am sorry to say but this is a fresh install (no mods, no enb etc. whatsoever) and it only happens in Fallout 4 (all of my other games run very well). I have not touched modding in this game and on this rig anyway. And it happens on a new save as well. Well, I created a short video so you can see for yourself what I mean (since it’s the same within the headset) –> https://youtu.be/llzv9scEicw
Thanks for the hint with the preset, though. I didn’t even know something like this existed. But at this point F4 is unfortunately unplayable for me. Hm.
Edit: I noticed something: If I play in first person then this happens significantly less. So vorpx (or the game?) reacts to “mousemovement” + 3rd person with “flashes”. Without vorpx there is no problem at all.
HalloMolliParticipantAs somebody who uses their phone a lot to browse this forum I appreciate this change a lot. Good work Ralf, as always.
HalloMolliParticipantI was able to fix this! I had to disable the controller in the main menu (options –> controls).
HalloMolliParticipantsorry.
I just want to create a profile and everyone can play with it.
I have no idea about the technical issues or the bugs in the profile. No need to be sorry since it was my mistake after all. The profile itself works great, however, it’s the game which seems to “scale” very poorly with hardware. I use a 3080, 5600x and 32 gb of ram and the performance is still very choppy, even with a rather low resolution. But if you change the settings ingame you can achieve a very playable experience.
Keep up the good work!
HalloMolliParticipantSorry for the double post but since I have no idea how I can edit my post I will put it here: I figured it out myself. The standard graphic settings are way to high for G3D so I needed to lower them significantly (resoulution 800×600). Now it works at least playable.
Again: Thanks for this profile. Can’t wait to play Persona even further now. More JRPGs are appreciated.
HalloMolliParticipantThank you, this game looks amazing in G3D, unfortunately it’s literally unplayable because the FPS are lower than 5 for me which causes a headache. Is there a way to fix it?
HalloMolliParticipant@Ralf,
No, there seems to be some conflict going on with the keyboard controls. For the most part, the mouse camera movement in 3rd person is fine, but moving around with wasd keys, using the radial menus is very bonked. Lag in key inputs, keys being stuck on (like if I start walking forward, he just stays going forward for 10 seconds), the radial menus will pop up when I hit tab, but then stay up long after I let go. Like 5-10 second lag with most keyboard input. No, in fact, I did not patch my game! So this explains a lot. Thank you so much for sharing this with me!
