Sep 21, 2019 at 1:36am in reply to: Bioshock Infinite + other games crash to desktop since last update #187857JariloParticipant
There have been no other changes in the last update than the ones mentioned in the changelog, none could have lead to more frequent crashes. I understand that it may seem to you as if the last vorpX version is the cause of your problem since it happens just now, but considering that noone else reports this that seems rather unlikely.
All I can really recommend is disabling any potential background programs, updating drivers and making sure no CPU/GPU overclocking is used while vorpX is running.
If you happen to have the Windows system restore functionality eanbled (unfortunately it‘s not per default on Windows 10 anymore), you could also try to go back to an earlier restore point from before your issue started to occur.
Okay, thanks Ralf. I guess I’ll trouble shoot and figure this out on my own hopefully.
JariloParticipantGrim Dawn
JariloParticipantThis now includes Bioshock Infinite as well, random crashing to desktop.
JariloParticipantIt doesn’t crash with out VorpX. It’s quite random. Yea, I just don’t think Full VR is cut out for this or Human Revolution either. Bummer.
JariloParticipantThanks I got it. :)
JariloParticipantI just did a full play-through of Half-life 2 in VR on VorpX, such timing. Love the updates Ralf, really appreciate it.
JariloParticipantOh seeing RE2 gave me some goosebumps I tell ya. Thanks Ralf.
JariloParticipantRalf, your are amazing. I’d get you a good bottle of Scotch my friend.
Sounds great, as long as everything else continues to work as it is.
JariloParticipantSince it got already buried, here’s the post regarding the profile again:
Profile is available in the cloud as ‘Resident Evil 2 [vorpX]’. Make sure to check the hints in the top left corner of the game window. The required .ini edit will be done by DirectVR with the next vorpX version, for now you have to do it manually.
The profile defaults to Immersive Screen Mode, supports both G3D and Z3D, also a scalable 3D HUD is available. Pretty much everything that makes sense for a third person game.
G3D looks flawless (checked in the police station), a fast machine is recommended.
Head tracking is off per default for now, didn’t have time yet to check whether that would introduce any issues with the gamepad. Probably it won’t, set the head tracking multiplier to 0.3 in the vorpX menu if you want to try.
Oh man, awesome news.
JariloParticipantThanks guys, always nice to read something like this every now and then. Don’t overdo it with the praise though or one day I might be inclined to believe it and stop improving vorpX. 😉
Worst thing ever, better keep working on it. haha
JariloParticipantYep, I feel bad for people waiting on VR content but afraid of VorpX and/or not willing to give it some learning curve time.
JariloParticipantI thought It’s DX12 or Vulkan only so it’s a no go for at least a long time no?
JariloParticipantVery nice, VorpX has been one of the best VR investments I’ve made. I like seeing positive reviews, I feel like the negative ones come from people not willing to invest a little time into a profile.
JariloParticipantI believe that makes ini edits that only apply after a game restart.
I’ve found that the main page FOV Enhancement slider only appears after you turn directVR off in the profile. This is probably to prevent conflicts.
See if this enables the Enhancement slider for you, but note that this method can introduce graphical glitches, so should be used as a last resort. Always best to first configure game files directly, use image zoom as much as tolerable, and lastly push a bit further with Enhancement if needed.
For supported games, directVR should do all this for you though.
Oh wow thank you, this was exactly what I was looking for. I know that it’s the ideal FOV already but I am experimenting with higher and different resolutions. Seriously appreciate it Ralf and dellrifter22.
JariloParticipantI understand, but the FOV adjustment setting under the DirectVR page does nothing.
