JariloParticipant
People are willing to spend 1600 on a video card? lmao
Isn’t it supposed to be the Titan class not for gamers?JariloParticipantThe game resets my settings back to Direct VR every time I launch it, even when I set change game settings to off and have saved the VorpX profile. Odd. Also, anyway to prevent it from auto jumping into Edge screen? There are moments in the game that force me for a long time to play in edge screen. The entire scene in the club forced edge screen where you follow the woman into the back.
JariloParticipantThe mod tricks away some of the AFR drawbacks, but others can’t be tricked way, no matter what you do. Rendering each eye at a different time will always create situations where the brain is fed with unexpectly misaligned left/right images. How well one is able to stomach that varies from person to person to a degree, but it’s obviously not ideal – especially with fast motion.
With a 1080TI Z3D is probably the better choice.
BTW: If you happen to play seated on your PC instead of standing with motion controllers, you can switch between Z3D and G3D with a hotkey (ALT+K).
I have switched to Z3D but I didn’t get a performance boost oddly enough, but the issue does go away then with the AFR I guess. I play standing with the gamepad, thanks.
JariloParticipantSounds as if maybe the alternate frame 3d method used by the standalone mod per default isn’t for you. You can switch to Z3D in the menu. May also make sense to set a FPS cap in the menu in case the GPU utilization is too high. Controller input is considered in the AFR frame interplolation, but that might fail if there isn’t enough performance headroom for the headset to run fully smooth.
If you tinkered with the headset sync settings, reinstall the mod to reset everything to default. Index works stable with the settings the mod chooses per default for it under normal circumstances.
Thanks, appreciate the reply. If this is simply a case of AFR then I’m impressed anyone can deal with, it physically hurts the eyes. I have re-installed the mod now and will try one more time and try your setting recommendations. Perhaps my 1080 ti doesn’t have the headroom anymore but I am playing the game on all low settings and 1600×1200.
JariloParticipantI doubt this Stanley guy ever resolved his issue? I’m having it and I don’t think anyone else here seems to be understanding it? I’m using a gamepad, alt-F fps/refresh rate is 75-90 / second number is 90 just like my HMD is set to. Valve Index and using a wireless xbox 360 gamepad controller. Looking around and moving forward is fine but the moment I smooth turn with the stick left/right all hell breaks loose, it’s like it loses 3d randomly with certain frames and going close up to certain characters and during melee combat it loses randomly 3d and gets really disorienting, so something is wrong because I have some fantastic VR legs and that’s not playable by any standard.
JariloParticipantDifferent base paramaters during authoring. I’ll revisit some more Z3D profiles from time to time over the next weeks/months and make similar changes to them either.
In RE8 and other newer Z3D profiles everything more than about 1.5 meters or so away looks practically the same as with G3D in respect to realistic 3D. Even ‘more 3D’ really doesn’t make sense anymore though due to excessive glitches.
I have to say, at 1.33 3d strength, RE8 between 5- 30 feet infront of my eyes is pretty incredible and rivals G3D. It just gets messy up close. I’m having a good time with it. The higher frame rate is nice though.
JariloParticipantIt’s far more stable now when I use the alternative hooking method. Either way, good times. I wonder why this game’s Z-normal 3d strength is so much more pronounced than other games, what does that depend on?
JariloParticipantAnyone play this lately with the FOV mod? It’s fine on desktop but a crash fest when hooked with VorpX. I set FOV to 127 using the Lazy FOV Mod Hardversion. I tried windowed and fullscreen.
JariloParticipantThat is fantastic, awesome.
JariloParticipantRalf, thank you for this piece of software that made my VR library of games bearable. By this point I have got more mileage out of VorpX titles than Native VR. Love the free Cyberpunk 2077 mod idea that’s coming, but wondering why can’t VorpX itself get an update for G3D for it as well.
@luka2099 Well perhaps it will give people a free sample of what VorpX is like, curious people have been asking for some kind of sample for a long time. What do you mean by crush Edge peak? I probably just haven’t heard that terminology but how much success I have with VorpX do it.JariloParticipantI just use the old versions, not paying again for games I already own and look basically the same.
JariloParticipantThanks Ralf, I did try that after saving all of my settings to vps files, but it still does it. Strange. The image just jitters and stays frozen in the headset but the game is fine on the monitor :/ . I’m going to try some things like running windowed mode etc
JariloParticipantNo dice, oddly Mass Effect doesn’t do it nor Deus Ex Mankind divided.
JariloParticipant@luka2099 It’s okay, I appreciate the attempt at help. I think it may be a conflict with SteamVR’s motion smoothing. I will just keep troubleshooting myself.
JariloParticipantNot sure what you mean, it is the full screen display as the game first.
