RJK_ParticipantThanks for the link, This must appear also when in SteamVR mode only. I would guess its a SteamVR or Windows7 software issue since they say we would need Win8. The thing is the HMD runs perfectly with SteamVR from end of 2017, this is the only exeption. I can adjust it, it just doesnt display. I really dont want to risk an update because of some other issues that were reported by users might break my setup completely.

RJK_ParticipantNothing is perfect, i can turn the IPD Knob but indicator doesnt display anymore in the HMD ( the Vive 1 had one ). Is that normal ? I really need some help on that. Could find anything through the net.
RJK_ParticipantRalf, youre the Boss. I really appreciate your efforts beeing extra friendly and answering to questions whenever you can. And if you dont answer, you just dont. You mentioned it, when asking a big company for support you probably wait forwever for an answer. I think this forum thing is a bit tricky too because we dont all speak the same language natively so misunderstandings can possibly easy occur. I have the same problem with some users from my websites. Its destressing, but on the other hand some other guys are always extra friendly and helpful too which weights all that out.
RJK_ParticipantI am experiencing the message WRN: OpenVRDirectModeManager Submit Error: 101 101 0, a couple of hundret lines, game displaying with vorpX logo but not displaying in HMD after i changed to the Vive Pro. SteamVR version is the older one from 2017 (i havent updateed because of those SteamVR “bugs”) . Not supported game though (Starpoint Gemini with Whale 2 propietary engine), other games work well, just want to drop that info here for statistical porposes in case other pro users run into similar things.
RJK_ParticipantToday i spoke to a guy who beleived that games using VorpX all “stick to your face” and you wouldnt be able to use hadtracking like in a native VR game. We seriously need some people help writing the wiki !
RJK_ParticipantThere is no link yet i assume. Open VorpX ingame shader menu with STRG+END, step through the shaders and select HIDE or Red or Green (top-right under Vertex or pixel). When you come across a HUD element, that will disappear (hide) or turn to green for example. Make this element “Active” and set it to “HUD” state. Do that with any other HUD element that you find. Close that page and open the normal VorpX menu, find “HUD” settings and lower the bottommost slider value.
If you work in Cinema Mode you alternatively can try “Focal Offset” on the 3D page of the ingame menu.

After playing a while around with the pro i must say the HMD is really worth its money. When mounting it properly to your head “sweet spot” is not a question anymore. The whole screen looks much clearer then with the vive 1, borders too ! Only in the very corners i notice some unsharpness but the overall clearnee weights that all out. I raised resolution way above 3000 where the current HUD became really really small, but still very clear to read letters.
Then, and thats probably the even more interesing part, when lowering resolution down to 1920×1440 overall image quality was still outstanding compared to the vive 1. I would really recommend these glasses, standing inside of a ice-spell-cloud made me seriously hold my breath because everything looks even more real then before. – Crazy ! I would even say no need of a pimax 8K or something else. The pixel have shrunk down to a size that they look almost like you look at a 27inch monitor real close. Very clear and crisp display.Dec 4, 2018 at 9:56pm in reply to: will vorpx be compatible with htc vive pro out of the box ? #177322
RJK_ParticipantHey RJK_
you must open steamvr.vrsettings and set “startMonitorFromAppLaunch” : true
thanks man !
RJK_ParticipantI think noone else knows more about 3D then Ralf, otherwise VorpX wouldnt work as good as it does, just think of DirectVR. You will never be able to program something like it if you do not know “3D” perfectly.
BTW: I have an idea for a “fake doll house”. Since every user can access the shader options of a game, you could try to set the HUD elements completely to “HUD”. Then pulling them very close in the HUD settings. This makes the 3D scene appearing more in the background. Gaining 3D strength to the max should make the scene look like a “doll house” (depending on how the HUD looks like). Best for games where the screen has a complete HUD frame around. In cinema modes you could try focal offset if HUD elements are not accessable. That will push the scene (depending on the game) behind the HUD. Put focal offset to a negative value for that.

RJK_ParticipantA fairy spoke to me and said, install a newer Nvidia driver…
Well if anyone wants to know my personal Pro Story, i can only guess around what caused that error 202 (Nvidia panel reconized the pro as a second device which was not possible to configure in any way). It seems using a display driver newer then 385.28 does not behave like that and the pro worked RIGHt AWAY with VorpX. Only the SteamVR Tasbar Icon is gone, may be someone kows how to bring that back at least.
The visual experience is insane, at the moment i am playing an older game in a very high resolution where text was quite unreadable without the magnifier becasue of extremely small GUI. The boost in readability is enormeous, everything is sharp like you read a newspaper. Thats how i wanted it. Cant say much about performane yet, but vorpX has not complained concerning FPS yet. I would say older games can be easily played with the pro on high resolutions, even on a GTX970 and WIn7 !
Sweet spot seems a bit smaller, but that could be only a fake impression because the HMD feels differntly to the Vive 1 and must be carefully adjusted.Dec 4, 2018 at 7:48pm in reply to: will vorpx be compatible with htc vive pro out of the box ? #177290
RJK_ParticipantNeed some help Guys,
Have the pro connected but when starting vorpX i get steamVR error 202 , something like “Compositor must be full screen” and HMD is displaying red and blue screens only.
any solution ?
RJK_Participant@Ralf

@Xain
Even a single game that is made for VR needs to be setup differently for each user. How can someone expect making LESS individual settings for hundrets of games that VorpX supports. (i would guess only real dummies). And yes, its the same thing like you own a shop for example, you hear the complainers all the time, but the satisfied customers dont see a reason to tell everyone how much they were satisfied with their purchase. So no wonder you read so many bad words about VorpX. PS: Through the twitter channel comments and discussions in the background i see lots of positive comments. May be we needed more followers to spread the word around.Dec 3, 2018 at 3:42pm in reply to: will vorpx be compatible with htc vive pro out of the box ? #177242
RJK_Participantgetting a pro in a day or two, wonder why some people say “you need a powerful card”. Why should be there a difference to the card i am using with the Vive 1 right now when using for example 3200×1800 ? I dont see a reason for the pro to be slower, its the same bandwidth for both unless SteamVr treats the pro differently (crappy driver?) , the card and the HMD. Or am i seeing something wrong ?
