I’ve found several references on these forums of people managing to get geo3D working by renaming the .exe file to DXHRDC.exe but it seems like even though the in-game vorpx menu allows geo 3D to be selected, it doesn’t seem to do anything.

Does anyone have information on why this trick no longer works? (Or if it still does and it’s just a problem on my end.

Also, I’ve tried several other popular exe names (udk, arma2 etc) to no avail. I believe the game runs on the chrome engine, used in the dead island games (I also tried renaming to the dead island games’ exe’s) and some of the call of juarez games. But DXHRDC.exe seems to be the only one that allows for geo3D even though it isn’t actually functional.

If anyone’s got any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated!

I’m running into this exact problem. I’ve also tried removing the steam_api64.dll file from the game’s directory and I just get a new error about that dll missing.

Anyone out there have a solution to renaming executables and still being able to run and launch games without steam blocking it?

Ok, thanks a lot I’m not sure exactly what it was but I reset a bunch of the profiles to default values as well as disabled all of my mods and it’s back to normal and fully playable! (wasn’t using the enb anymore either as I’m aware that causes conflicts)

Really hoping that the new Skyrim remastered edition that comes out in october just auto-translates with the same profiles, as it’s basically Skyrim with ENB built-in, but that is probably wishful thinking, haha

Could you describe how you got it to load? I’m stuck in the same boat with the sound coming through but stuck at the “witcher 3 is taking a while to load” screen.

My question is a bit more general, but does anyone know exactly what determines which games support Geaometry 3D rendering and which ones don’t?

I’ve been sort of going under the assumption that the answer to that might vary, but that perhaps certain games (due to their engine) might make this nearly, if not definitively impossible, whereas other games might just work naturally. Maybe some games just work with it right out of the gate?

I’d be curious to know what kind/how much work generally goes into getting this support up and running. I’m sure a lot of us would like to think you just go in and flip a switch, but it’s probably much more complicated than that, and on a per-game basis, which probably means that adding support to an ever growing list of games becomes a bit like triage? Choosing which games are worth it based on demand v.s. how much time and effort it would take to make it worth it?

Someone let me know if I’m way off base or not, haha.

Thanks a lot for the explanation, this sort of connects the dots that I’ve been beginning to see since I dove into this entire VR endeavor!

Any update on the left/right eye shadow inconsistency? I’m kind of in the same boat. Had the head tracking killing controller input problem as well. I tried using the vorpx controller override but even with remapping the keys it seems to turn on auto-run on the left stick? It’s kind of annoying to be sprinting all the time, it’s really strange, especially since sprint is a toggle button press and not mapped to the extent to which you push the left analog stick.

Is there any way to completely disable vorpx menu inputs on the controller across the board? It’s really confusing trying to remap the buttons with controller emulation turned on and vorpx commands/menus coming up while playing. I don’t mind reaching for my mouse/keyboard at all and feel like the ability to fully emulate the controller and not have vorpx hijack any of it’s buttons would solve so many issues in a number of games!

Ok, nevermind. It appears that whatever executable the quicklaunch icon was pointing to wasn’t the right one? And aside from the readme file, it didn’t autolaunch the registration box.

I just went into the install folder and manually started launching the executables in there and found one that prompted the registration box to pop up. Am now registered and appreciate the basically immediate response!
