Impossible to answer at this point, but I’m cautiously optimistic. If not, I’ll definitely check whether something can be done.

As far as Dear Esther is concerned use the original DX9 version if possible. Works a lot better than the more recent DX11 ‘landmark’ edition.

If you haven’t done so already, please first try both troubleshooting options that appear in the ‘Attaching to…’ dialog after a while, i.e. installing a hook helper and switching to alternative hooking. That can often resolve hooking problems without getting to the bottom of the matter.

If that doesn’t help, please check for potential conflicts with other programs on your PC. Hooking issues almost always are caused by conflicts with programs that also hook into games. The trouble shooting guide on top of this sub forum has more details on the matter.

I don’t really know much about the game, sorry. Due to it’s ongoing Alpha status it is not really supported. When I last tried (checked earlier today for you to ensure all is still working) all I had to do is enabling TrackIR in the game options. Never saw any pop-up asking about TrackIR.

There seems to be an updated guide on the Star Citizen forums. Maybe that helps:

Better ask there if you have more questions. I only check the game every now and then to ensure it’s not entirely broken. Official support will be added when (if) the game becomes an actual game some day.

Most guides on the internet are probably outdated. Internal TrackIR support was introduced last autumn IIRC, so any guide from before that won’t cover this topic right.

After resetting the profile to default it should work out of the box (if enabled in the game options).

vorpX has TrackIR support built in since a few versions. You don’t need to run OpenTrack manually. If you use a guide that says to run OpenTrack manually, it’s outdated. You should just have to launch the game and enable TrackIR in the game options.

If you downloaded older user settings from the cloud, also make sure to reset the profile to default. User settings from the cloud that are older than half a year or so would probably disable the built in TrackIR support.

Using vorpX directly is always better, not just because of the obvious image quality loss from the Full > SBS > Full scaling. You gain nothing, lose 80% of what vorpX can do, and add unnecessary performance issues on top of that.

The only reason the SBS output exists is because some users requested it for use with 3D TVs and projectors. DO NOT use it for some weird construction with an extra tool that captures the SBS image and displays it in the headset. That’s entirely pointless.

You have to enable TrackIR head tracking somewhere in the game’s input or camera options (forgot where exactlly) and also in vorpX if it isn’t enabled there already.

Since a few versions vorpX can utilize TrackIR for head tracking if available in a game (usually flight or racing games). Whenever vorpX detects that a game suppoprts TrackIR, it displays an according hint in the top/left corner of the game window.

… has to upscale the sampled halves back to the original size.

Obviously. I just wanted to point out that vorpX never renders at half width. The actual game rendering is always done at full size.

When you output SBS with vorpX in ‘Generic 3D Display’ mode each eye is rendered at full width and then scaled down to half width, hence the resulting SBS image is 2×1 supersampled, i.e. better as if the actual rendering would have been done at half width.

Might be an input focus issue. Try to click into the game window once to make sure the game is in the foreground.

If you happen to have any tool/utility running that in any way hooks into games or interacts with keyboard input, please try to disable that.

If you have any mod installed for your game, please try whether the issue also occurs without mods.

If that does not help, please provide more detailed information. Difficult to check an issue without even knowing what game you tried.

There is no official profile for the game and I never tried it, so I can’t say anything specific.

    General hints:

    1. Always pay attention to the instructions/remarks that user profile authors may provide for their profiles, these instructions can often be vital for making a profile work correctly. They are displayed in the config app and in newer vorpX versions also in the top/left corner of the game window (provided vorpX can hook into the game).
    2. Hooking issues almost always are conflicts with other programs that also hook into games. The pinned trouble shooting guide on top of this sub-forum has more details on the matter. For online games there also is the possiblity that a game can’t be hooked because of an anti-cheat system.

Just a heads-up that vorpX always renders at full resolution originally. For the SBS output in ‘Generic 3D Display’ mode where the images are scaled down to half width afterwards that means the final SBS image is 2×1 supersampled.

While not hooked into a game it’s constantly checking for newly started programs. You can either exit vorpX or pause it while you don’t intend to use it if 4% CPU usage are intolerable for you.

The profile I created for you earlier today should pretty much just work without any need for further tinkering under normal circumstances (Steam release, just to be sure), so I’m afraid I’m officially out of ideas as far as your issues with this game are concerned.

You will only notice a change at fairly low scaling values, since the ImageZoom value is so low. Not really sure what to recommend if that doesn’t work for you either, maybe try a full factory reset and then redownload the profile. I’m slowly starting to think there maybe something wrong with your setup.
