Thanks for the tips. The plugin you mentioned is in use for quite some time. The site has been tested with various page load tests that load it from around the world. There is no difference in page loading speed whatsoever. Also the page doesn’t load a few MB, not even the start page with several images is larger than a few 100KB, even less for forum pages. From Germany browsing the forum should be nearly instantaneous (<2 secs typically), just like before. If you encounter any issues with loading times, that either has to be a coincidence or maybe some stuff that prior was cached by your browser has to be reloaded now.

I have to look into that. Doesn’t switching to OpenGL let vorpX hook the game? That has always been working in the past, there isn’t really any reason why it wouldn’t work for you.

There haven’t been any changes that affect performance. If you encounter any issues with loading times, that either has to be a conincidence or maybe some stuff that prior was cached by you browser has to be reloaded now.

“Just” a more modern layout scheme for the CMS that adjusts itself to multiple display sizes, plus custom style adjustments that make it look similar to the original website.

If vorpX can’t hook the game, it’s probably running in Vulkan mode. Switching to OpenGL should help.

For the desktop viewer games have to be run windowed (or ‘borderless fullscreen’). The desktop viewer does not handle true fullscreen mode.

Should work again. Thanks for the heads-up.

The only other two things I can potentially imagine is that maybe either tracking isn’t centered right, although it’s unlikely that that would happen for multiple launches. Still worth a shot to try ALT+SPACE. Also resetting the profile to default in the config app is worth a shot in case the settings are messed up in some weird way.

If for some reason you can’t make it work: there isn’t really any need for fiddling with vorpX settings for the game. Provided running the DirectVR scanner via ALT+L works, you are largely good.

The only thing you might want to do besides that is raising the game’s resolution, which normally can be done from the vorpX menu. As a workaround selecting a 4:3 res like 1600×1200 or 1920×1440 manually after launching the game will help in that respect.

If all of a sudden no game hooks anymore there must have something changed on your system that caused the issue.

Hooking issues almost always are conflicts with other programs on your PC. The by far most likely candidate would be some invasive third party AV program. If you use anything else than Windows Defender, consider to remove it for testing purposes. Some more annoying third party AV programs are difficult to disable. Windows Defender kicks in automatically, so there is no risk involved.

More details regarding other potential hooking conflicts can be found in the trouble shooting guide on top of this sub forum.

Haven’t checked the demo myself, but it’s my understanding that DX11 has been ditched for the game, so using a DX12 Z3D profile like Cyberpunk 2077 is the right choice for the game, other potenttial candidates would be e.g. the Horizon: Zero Dawn or the the Read Dead Redemption 2 profiles.

I’ll definitely look into the title and if possible will add as much DirectVR stuff as possible. Most importantly automatic FOV and resolution, so that you won’t have to tinker with any settings.

The best resolution depends on various factors. For one obviously the performance you can achieve at a given resolution. Try to maintain half the headset refresh rate whenever possible, at least in FullVR mode. While vorpX is designed to handle lower framerates as well, in FullVR mode things can start to feel sluggish below half the headset refresh rate. In cinema/immersive mode lower framerates are more tolerable.

Also the best aspect ratio differs depending on the play style. Fo cinema/immersive 16:9 or 16:10 is typically what you want while for FullVR mode 4:3 is usually best. At least that’s a good rule of thumb. For FullVR mode things are a bit complicated since some vorpX settings like ImageZoom may affect the ideal aspect here.

Whenever vorpX can handle the resolution, let it do its thing and just select a quality preset on the DirectVR page of the vorpX menu. vorpX then figures out the best resolution for the game factoring in all vorpX options that affect which aspect ratio is best in the current situation.

Might be an input focus issue. Try to click into the game window before hitting delete to ensure the game has input focus.

Not sure about 2560×1080, but there is a size mismatch between the depth buffer and the actual rendering at uncommnon aspect ratios. Typically it’s best to stick to common resolutions like 1920×1080 or 2560×1440 for the game.

vorpX should display a hint regarding the aspect ratio glitch in the top left corner of the game window. Checking these hints can often be helpful to avoid unnecessary trial and error.

Got it. No promises, but I’ll check whether supporting frame packed 3D can be added whithout too much hassle. Just to make sure we talk about the same thing: by frame packed you mean the over/under format with a few pixels in between that e.g. projector vendors etc call frame packed? Like described here: https://avgadgets.com/3d-formats-primer/

I understand that you want to use the mad video renderer, but that’s not really how vorpX is meant to work with MPC-HC. MPC-HC has a few lines of extra code specifically for vorpX that allows vorpX to grab the video before it is scaled when using the DX9 renderer that vorpX selects automatically, thus avoiding multiple scaling operations. Also I don’t think that mad vr’s framerate smoothing is of much use since it would smooth the framerate to 60fps (desktop refresh rate), but then there has to be another conversion to 90 when vorpX renders the image to the headset.

I never tried the mad vr method you use, but considering that with the normal MPC-HC hook you get the least possible number of scaling operations and only one framerate conversion (movie frame rate to headset refresh rate), I’d consider it unlikely that the mad video renderer is in any way better than the normal vorpX MPC-HC hook.

Desktop res doesn’t matter, at least not in the way you assumed.

It may matter occasionally in the opposite direction though. Some games check the current desktop res and don’t allow higher resolutions than that. If e.g. you have a 1080p monitor and added a custom resolution to your PC that is higher than that (e.g. 1920×1440) for vorpX, in some games you might not be able to select the custom res because the game doesn’t allow more than your 1920×1080 desktop res.

So whenever you don’t see your added custom resolutions in a game’s resolution selection, it makes sense to set the desktop res to a higher resolution first. That enables the higher resolutions also in games that do a desktop resolution check.
