Depends on the game, your settings etc. At 3K resolutions you probably will be GPU limited in most cases, but that is really just a guess. There just is no clear and easy answer to this question. 3K is a bit of overkill in a VR headset BTW. Certainly will look great due to the supersampling, but in most cases it will make sense to use a lower res with better performance.

It’s also worth to note that vorpX uses a multithreaded rendering approach, which costs about 10-15% overall performance on top of the G3D performance impact, but on the other hand makes low framerate situations (<40) more tolarable. Such situations typically aren't handled well by the headset runtimes.

Also use the original Skyrim if you still have it. Not only is it better performance wise, it also looks better since it has actual multisampling antialising instead of the SE’s blurry post process AA.

For good performance you typically will have to reduce graphics settings. Medium details with higth texture resolution is a good starting point for Skyrim SE.

As much as I’d like to, I can‘t really say anything else than I said two or three times above already since this is neither a supported game nor did I even try it. Maybe the guy who did the video can help you out, Contacting him on YouTube might be worth a shot.

Don’t keep trying :). Instead trust the profile author that he knew what works and what doesn’t and use the default settings, in this case Immersive Screen Mode.

If the image is moving with the headset, OpenTrack is not working. If OpenTrack would work correctly, the game camera would rotate with your headset.

As suggested above, please use the F1 2019 profile default settings if you can‘t make FullVR work. There is nothing else I can suggest.

The default settings (immersive screen mode) are already the best possible settings without OpenTrack.

Like said above there is no FullVR head tracking for these games with vorpX alone.

The only way to get FullVR head tracking for these two games *might* be OpenTrack, provided they actually support TrackIR input. If that is the case, it even works without vorpX.

If you are unsure about that or can‘t get OpenTrack to work, please leave the F1 2019 profile at its default settings (immersive screen mode). The default settings are already the best settings for the game. There is nothing you could do to enable FullVR head tracking except using OpenTrack.

Can‘t really comment further on Automobiista, sorry. Never tried that game.

Sounds as if OpenTrack is not working as intended. Try without vorpX, if OpenTrack works, rotating the headset rotates the game camera with or without vorpX running.

You need to make sure that:

    1. Your game actually supports TrackIR.
    2. TrackIR is enabled, you may have to enable it in the games options.
    3. The input in OpenTrack is your headset.
    4. The OpenTrack output is set to ‘freetrack’.

@ dellrifter: I know you want to help, but in this special case the only useful advice is the one given by RJK_ (and me). There is no better way to set up the F1 profile than the default way except for using OpenTrack if still supported by the game.

Just to emphasize what RJK_ said above:

Please do not try to ‘optimize’ profile settings before you have some solid understanding of how vorpX works. Provided the F1 2019 user profile is based on the official F1 2018 profile (quite likely), it is already set up in the best possible way for this game out of the box.

If F1 2019 still supports TrackIR (not sure), you might be able to inject head tracking for FullVR mode with OpenTrack. Without using additional software however the provided immersive screen mode profile is the way to go. No tweaking required whatsoever except for raising the camera FOV in the game options.

Since it got already buried, here’s the post regarding the profile again:

Profile is available in the cloud as ‘Resident Evil 2 [vorpX]’. Make sure to check the hints in the top left corner of the game window. The required .ini edit will be done by DirectVR with the next vorpX version, for now you have to do it manually.

The profile defaults to Immersive Screen Mode, supports both G3D and Z3D, also a scalable 3D HUD is available. Pretty much everything that makes sense for a third person game.

G3D looks flawless (checked in the police station), a fast machine is recommended.

Head tracking is off per default for now, didn’t have time yet to check whether that would introduce any issues with the gamepad. Probably it won’t, set the head tracking multiplier to 0.3 in the vorpX menu if you want to try.

Please try the factory reset and then re-import the profile from the cloud. If there is any issue with your profile database, that will definitely fix it. I’m out of ideas otherwise.

The author name isn’t displayed in the local profiles list, so that’s perfectly fine.

Might still make sense to try a factory reset (config app > trouble shooting). Make sure to backup settings you consider worth keeping, after a factory reset they are gone otherwise! To do that you can drag and drop profiles from the local list to a folder on your PC or your desktop and vice versa.

There are tooltips in the menu that briefly explain most settings.

One general thing: while vorpX allows you to customize many things, you usually don’t have to. If you are new to vorpX, most of the time you are better off trusting the profile authors that settings are dialed in in a sensible way.

In this particular case: the ‘X-Box Gamepad Override’ on the ‘Input’ page is usually enabled because otherwise there would be head tracking issues, e.g. because a game does not allow mouse and gamepad to be used at the same time. You can remap the gamepad in that case by clicking the ‘Change Gamepad Mapping’ button.

The gamepad override is a good example how trying to optimize settings can easily break the experience instead of doing anything good. It ususally is already set to the right value for a game. If it’s on, leave it on and remap the gamepad to your liking if necessary.

Mea culpa! then. d0kt0r you are the man!

Although you could have come up with that a few months earlier. Would have saved me countless hours of fruitless work. Just kidding :). Thanks again for the hint.

I’ll take a look at other games using the engine later.

No problem at all. vorpX even has a decent, freely configurable keyboard/mouse > gamepad mapper integrated for games that either don’t have native gamepad support or don’t like gamepad and mouse (might be required for head tracking) to be used at the same time.

TLDR: You can play any game with a gamepad, even games without native gamepad support.
