RalfKeymasterPlease make sure you also have the latest version of the mod installed then. Cyberpunk version and mod version have to match. The most recent version is always linked from the first post of this thread.
RalfKeymasterPlease make sure that your Cyberpunk version is up-to-date. The latest mod release only works with Cyberpunk 1.61.
RalfKeymasterThanks for the heads-up. For whatever reason a HUD/menu related shader changes occasionally with game updates. Seems to be that time of the year again. Will take a look at it tomorrow.
For the time being you can circumvent the issue by disabling 3D in the vorpX menu After launching the game and re-enabling it after entering the actual game world. The issue only affects the login menu after launch, the actual game works fine with 3d enabled.
RalfKeymasterThanks for the feedback. I had to disable the VR optimized camera for the time being, wasn’t good enough yet for prime time. The camera currently moves just like the game’s camera moves normally, which makes looking around feel a bit weird. Will hopefully get this done for the full 23.1.0 release.
RalfKeymasterChecked this in the meantime. Extra stupid mistake on my end, I uploaded the wrong installer. Please redownload, if it still doesn’t work afterwards, try to clear your browser cache to make sure you definitely get the new installer.
Sorry for the confusion and thanks for the heads-up!
RalfKeymasterIf you happen to use anything else than Windows Defender, try to disable (or better get rid of) your AV program. Some of the more invasive/annoying ones may block the download.
RalfKeymasterMerry X-Mas to you too.
Also Happy Holidays to everyone else. Whether you actually celebrate anything the next few days or not, have a good time!
RalfKeymasterPlease double check whether SteamVR is selected in the vorpX config app, OpenXR messages (obviously) only are displayed in OpenXR mode.
RalfKeymasterContrary to Valve’s announcement two years ago or so their OpenXR implementation isn’t spec complete in any way. It entirely lacks 32bit support (would be necessary for older games like Bioshock), and also has a spec breaking issue where they swap the behavior of two functions used to initialize a frame, which breaks the purpose of splitting the OpenXR frame init into two functions and makes their OpenXR implementation pretty much useless in more complex multithreaded scenarios.
Long story short: stick to SteamVR. There is no point in using Valve’s OpenXR. It’s broken without hope of getting fixed (they have been made aware of both issues mentioned above by several people for years) and basically just a wrapper to SteamVR anyway.
RalfKeymasterIs this related to an official profile (author name: vorpX) or an user profile?
RalfKeymasterYou can launch vorpX before launching games from Steam. vorpX automatically checks for newly started programs.
RalfKeymasterSince you already noticed the custom resolutions hint, you are quite close… :) Now just follow the step-by-step instructions in the ‘Custom Resolutions’ help section and add the resolutions mentioned there.
Alternatively you can disable resolution auto settings in the vorpX menu and set the resolution normally in the game menu.
It’s better to add the custom resolutions though and let vorpX do its thing since vorpX figures out the best aspect ratio depending on the situation. You definitely never want to use an ultrawide res for example.
On a sidenote: the latest Witcher 3 patch largely broke the profile for the game. An updated vorpX version will be released within the next few days.
RalfKeymasterImage Quality/Sharpness:
You can run games at any resolution. For some games vorpX can handle that via the ‘Resolution Quality’ option on the DirectVR page of the menu. For games without automatic resolution handling, you can set a higher res yourself in the game options. Make sure to check the ‘Custom Resolution’ section of the vorpX help for adding resolutions to your PC higher than it can normally display.
For further optimization use the ‘Clarity’ setting in the menu (‘Image’ page), which provides high quality upscaling from the game res to the headset res. That’s no substitute for a decent game res though. Garbage in, garbage out.
Scale:
In all Geometry 3D games you can adjust the scale to your liking with the ‘3D-Strength/Scale’ option in the menu. The default is typically dialed in to be close to natural scale, but if you think it’s off, the available margin usually ranges from being a virtual 30cm dwarf to being a 10m giant as far as the perceived world scale is concerned.
General:
If you haven’t done so already, check the ‘Quick Reference’ and ‘Essential Hints’ guides in the vorpX help. They explain the most important things, spending a bit of time to read them will save you a lot of unnecessary trial and error.
RalfKeymasterI only have the Steam and GOG versions, so I don’t know for sure, but haven’t heard of any issues regarding Epic, which makes it quite likeky that there aren’t any.
If you want to be on the safe side, get it from GOG. It’s 50% off there currently too.
RalfKeymasterBrief update: takes a little longer than planned, but for good reason:
Witcher 3 (mod) scripts usually run entirely self contained within a sandbox, so I had to come up with a cute little hack to exchange data between vorpX and the mod script. Until yesterday this only worked one way (from vorpX to the script), but yesterday I finally had the missing idea how to make it work both ways. Yippie.
What does that mean for you? Instead of “just” having AFR3D, a custom camera and so on, the game will get the full package possible with extra mods, including automatic EdgePeek for cutscenes/menus and other game context sensitive stuff. That’s definitely worth a few days of extra work (for me) and extra wait (for you).
