I would suggest checking your actual frame rate by pressing alt+f and see what the readout is. You may have to make adjustments if the framerate is too low. I’ve never had a problem with feeling sluggish if the FPS readout is high. It feels smooth and great when high. For more assistance, look at this forum post. also Ralf said this when comparing fluid sync vs async:
FluidSync indeed mainly caps the game framerate at half the headset’s refresh rate. It’s a bit of a matter of taste, but personally I prefer that over fluctuating framerates when 90fps can’t be reached reliably. The default (‘Auto’) switches it on/off depending on how close the game is to potentially reach 90fps, but you can safely turn it off entirely if you prefer that.
Async is a bit difficult to explain in a non-techie way, so bear with me: you have to imagine vorpX as two rendering processes in parallel: the game and as a second one the rendering to the headset. The async option defines wehther both are in-sync with each other or not. You should usually leave the async optin on, that allows the render to headset thread to run faster than the game.
Performance wise there are always some experiments but I can’t really share any details on ongoing development. In any case you shouldn’t expect wonders like magically doubled G3D framerates.
Finally, as per the shadows, it generally depends on the game. some games render the shadows very well in 3d, and some do not. It’s not so much an issue of native 3d vs whatever, it has to do with how shadows are rendered simultaneously in two eyes. Clearly, that can be difficult! So, sometimes its just better to lower their setting, or even disable them. Sometimes, you can try changing “main eye” to right or left in the vorpx menu and that can sometimes help! Game on!
zahncistenParticipantHave you tried to set the shadows to a lower setting in the game options? That might be a good solution if they are too distracting 😃
zahncistenParticipantAnd now you can play it again … in 3d! lol 😜
zahncistenParticipantA good question. I don’t believe you’ll be given a copy 🤔 I guess DRM free doesn’t always mean license free.
zahncistenParticipantGreat, thanks for the insight! Always looking for the best way.
zahncistenParticipantOh man, I can’t wait!
zahncistenParticipantThat list is awesome, RJK_, thanks! I’ve been thinking about having some genre sorting in VorpX. That is great.
Divinity 2 is definitely a great choice. The 3D interpretation in that game is so well done.
zahncistenParticipantOh man, I couldn’t imagine playing Dead Space in VorpX. That would be awesome and terrifying all balled up into one, lol.
zahncistenParticipantNice! Even better. You could always go for Mass Effect 1, 2, and 3. All are great and on sale.
zahncistenParticipant@ distant lol DA:O Ultimate edition is only 7.49 on steam. No pressure, but it is totally worth it: https://store.steampowered.com/app/47810/Dragon_Age_Origins__Ultimate_Edition/
zahncistenParticipant@ Distant If I were me, and I am, I would totally start with DAO, and play through to DA2 on finally inquisition. the game builds on itself and saves from each game transfer over. It’s pretty awesome, and all the games are great. Each is fairly standalone, so you don’t *have* to play them through in the series, but there is a large story that’s kindof neat to see unfold.
I totally agree about the purchase of new equipment. I was planning on getting new equipment, but after I found VorpX, forget that! All I need is my HMD! I’m happy with my old monitor just fine. I don’t use anything but VorpX anymore. And its totally worth it.
The other day I was tempted to go on about how awesome it was to travel through the deeproads of Orzammar (DA:O) in VorpX. It was mindblowing. You get used to the G3D, but then it just creeps up on you how awesome this is. VorpX just blows me away. This is the way games are meant to be played. Seriously. Anyway, have fun! Lol 😜zahncistenParticipant@ Distant if you want a great 3rd Person game with an awesome storyline and incredible (totally awesome) G3D, you should check out Dragon Age: Origins (Make sure to get the Ultimate Edition if you don’t have it already). I am replaying DA:O just because of VorpX. It is so awesome. And one more reason to get excited, with the next update, we’re supposed to be getting Dragon Age: Inquisition (AKA Dragon Age 3) in G3D! I can’t wait.
zahncistenParticipantSorry to swarm, here is a review of the Odyssey + that came out just today:
zahncistenParticipantSo, I don’t own either, but I did some quick research and a few folks say that the Samsung Odyssey is better than the Vive Pro. Here are a few videos.
This one compares the Odyssey + with the Vive Pro and the Lenovo Explorer:

This one just talks about the Vive and Odyssey HMDs:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmZjJIyz-xASo, this may not be all you want to know, but it might help a little. Sorry there is no direct VorpX information! But I think it translates over, because VorpX isn’t some strange, separate VR experience. Hope it helps.

- great
with VorpX G3D is Spec Ops: The Line. I’m shocked that the profile only has 4 downloads! (one of them is me, lol), because it is a great profile, and a good game. By the way, all settings can be put to absolute max but creep back on the shadows a bit, I put mine on low. Still looks beautiful. You should try it.
