Personally I think for CP2077 in FullVR mode 2400×1800 (DLSS at ‘Auto’, i.e. the game originally renders a res below that) is the sweet spot on a high end machine if you aren’t willing to dial down graphics detail and still want a crisp image. An RTX3080 is able to maintain almost stable 60fps that way incl. raytracing, so there even is a bit of headroom. With the clarity setting cranked up that looks quite good even on a headset with high pixel density (e.g. Reverb G2), on headsets with lower pixel density (e.g. Index/Rift S) it’s already borderline overkill.

This is not a VorpX issue but should help users on a fresh Windows 10 install to solve common errors like SteamVR crashes, SteamVR not recognizing HMD , SteamVR not showing Bluetooth settings menu.

    Hello community,

I am experiencing issues with running a freshly installed (Steam) copy of GTA V with vorpX 21.2.3 and Valve Index controllers. I did not change the default profile, as such I assume I use the new profile with the vorpX connection mod.

The game crashes shortly after starting the game when my Valve Index controllers connected to SteamVR already. If I connect one of the controllers with the game already running it crashes shortly after. Both crashes occur without error message nor crash report.

The crashes also happen if I change the default controller type in the vorpX settings.

Running another DirectVR game (Fallout 4) works fine, including using the Index controllers. Starting GTA V and beginning the story works fine when my controllers are not connected, too, though I cannot use mouse and keyboard controls to control my character. Both work fine in the GTA V menu/settings/map, so I assume locking the controls during playing is intended?

Has anyone a hint how to fix this problem or how to go on troubleshooting?

    Thank you in advance!

sorry if I answer here, but I could not find the email on the site. I found the game by clicking on idtech 5 in the game engine list.

This is happening to me as well. vorpx/headset:index goes to a 4:3 res and you lose your cursor. all the setting stay the same in game and vorpx. they only way to change it back is to switch back and forth between windows/fullscreen windows in wow game settings. wich is unplayable. nothing like losing your cursor in a fight=)

    @ParadiseDecay,

That is wonderful news on how VorpX has helped somebody experience VR in a way not achievable by other means, and congratulations to yourself for helping to make this happen. That must be a wonderful feeling!

Perhaps your post might reach a bigger audience if placed in Reddit under the Valve Index or Oculus Rift pages. I can’t say I’ve noticed hate mail of any significance in these forums (it seems anybody posting here is in search of help and not harassment).

I myself am a fan of your YouTube video.
Great job on being a fine VR ambassador to the masses.

Same here, for GTA5, I want to use full VR though. Crashes after the Rockstar Logo. Everything in newest version, and I went through the troubleshooting thread, too.

Thanks Ralph, I appreciate you taking time to respond. That makes perfect sense.

Possibly I will be able to play the game in full VR with my Index motion controllers when they arrive, or just be happy with Cinema mode. TBH the one thing really going for CP77 is the graphics engine with RT; it makes little sense to sacrifice that in the name of forcing it into a VR experience.

Now, when the NEXT gen cards come along, I think I’ll actually be able to push enough pixels, even through vorpX, to play a game like this at the clarity I want in full VR mode.

For now, older games that I can push at 4K using a G3D profile (F03, etc.) look absolutely amazing in full VR, but modern games, ironically, with their newer-but-much-softer AA in the first place, and needing to use Z3D to push the frame rate I need: Even at 4K they often end up too soft.

Not a complaint, just an observation of the limits of technology. TriDef was always much softer in Z3D than G3D mode as well.

One thing that might help: Is there any way you could try to make ReShade work more consistently with vorpX? Right now it’s hit-and-miss. The error pops up, but with some titles it works just fine (Greedfall). With others it will cause an instant CTD (CP77 is one of these). I have LONG used AA, sharpening, and very importantly the Film Grain ReShade filters to manage games that otherwise look poor with various 3D techniques. A small amount of Film Grain, for example, can help to mask Z3D halos and will trick the eye & brain into perceiving a scene as being more detailed than it actually is (the brain interprets a certain amount of grain as added sharpness/detail for some reason, a trick photographers have used for ages to ‘fix’ photos that are too soft.)

If you can’t work to allow ReShade to work the normal way, is there any way you could set it up so that vorpX can handle ReShade itself and apply it to games that way?

Tried screwing with it some more, and unfortunately nothing has changed.
The game plays fine without vorpX/Steam VR active.
I’m using the default voprX profile for Half Life 2.
Upon starting the game with vorpX, the game audio seems to be fine, but both the monitor and Valve Index HMD are black (the monitor has some specific voprX messages).
I’ve gone back into the game and adjusted from a 16:9 to a 4:3, but getting back in with vorpX still leaves with a black screen on both the HMD and monitor.

With my Index I often prefer a resolution of 2880×2160 instead of 3840×2160, because in 3840×2160 i get not enough fps in G3D. Resolutions like 2560×1440 and 2880×1620 are too blurry in my opinion. But the Pimax has a 16:9 Display, and i don’t know whether it makes sense to buy a Pimax ?

    hey,

i have a Index and use 4:3 resolutions in Full-VR and also sometimes in Cinema Mode to get more Performance in G3D. Can you recommend 4:3 aspect ratios in that cases with a Pimax 8K X ?

Thanks for the submission! Just a hint: If the other “new game” came from you, i can only accept new games with a 3D screenshot (and of corse an existing cloud profile that users can access), otherwise i would not be able to prove the profile is really 3D.( Its a must in order to properly maintain the list ) BTW: Screenshots are explained Here or Here
