    Hi, Ralf!

I bought Vorpx and finally was able to use it with Quest 3, before I was using Psvr 1 and Ivry and was very difficult to hook up any game. Your work deserves nore praise from the community since it allow us a lot of games to be played, thanks!
My question is that when playing Fallout New Vegas the game zooms in automaticaly from time to time like if I was pressing left trigger it seems. Its not the zoom from pipboy or the zoom from dialogues and happens when walking or even stopped. Im using dualsense and the gamepad option in vorpx menu. Can you help me?

I’ve played about halfway through the game with vorpX in FullVR view, but seated with mouse and keyboard. While it is a fun way to play and see Pandora, it is not the ideal vorpX experience you might have had with CyberPunk.

For one, it’s a dx12 game, meaning only Z-normal 3D is available (not Geometry 3D like Fallout, and no AFR 3D like RDR2 or CyberPunk). Z3D is still more immersive than flat, but it won’t be the perfect 3D experience. In this game the 3D of the hand/weapon models is way too strong compared to the world 3D, so you kind of have to ignore looking directly at the objects in your hands.

Also note that the FOV is maxed to 105 in this game, so you may see some of the black bars on top and bottom of your view. The FOV when flying is far less, so you’ll need to Edge Peek mode for that.

Lastly, You’ll need a super power PC to run this at a decent high resolution and frame rate. Even then, there is no promise the head tracking will be smooth. I’m accustomed to playing with modest 35 fps frame rates and using the mouse instead of head tracking, so it’s fine playable for me, but I know it may not be acceptable for many.

You can use DLSS/FSR in Z3D games for a slight boost, but you can’t use Frame Generation with vorpX.

So in short: While it kinda works to play this particular game in vorpX, I would not say it works super well, and I would hesitate to buy vorpX for this game alone.

I played through NV and all DLC with around 100+ mods some months ago, and Fallout 3 with +100 mods around a year ago. Worked fine for me. I used Vortex to manage mods though and I have no experience with MO.

I did however, not use the Launcher on either game, but rather opened the game directly with the game exe file from a shortcut I made on my desktop. I don’t really change much of the settings in the game but rather let Vorpx do it by setting it to Ultra (and whatever other settings I needed) and then restart the game for the changes to take effect.

But yes, Vorpx does change the ini files which can be unfortunate. I managed to correct one of the worst things about playing it in VR by eliminating the awful zoom-in on faces during conversations, by changing some parameters in certain files, but Vorpx would overwrite it every time I restarted the game.

Other than that those game were amazing in VR… totally worth the price of Vorpx.

Ralf, I’d been wanting to give this a try but had been holding off until I started watching the series and you’ve outdone yourself with the DirectVR in this game. Truly beautiful. I’m not using the latest VorpX, but 23.1.5 I think and it’s just great. Should I upgrade? Will in make a difference? I primarily play using the controllers in Gamepad mode.

I’m playing FNV with Vorpx and a lite collection of mods via MO2 called Viva New Vegas. Obviously we know the issues arising with ini redirection and Mod Organizer. However, I’ve turned off the ability for MO to change ini files.

Here’s my problem: I ran Direct VR and set res to ‘ultra’ (I’m on Vorpx 24.10 with a 3090ti) The res is set to something like 3340 x 2280 I have bfullscreen set to 0 in falloutprefs and ‘windowed’ box checked in the NV Launcher. When I launch the game through MO it is indeed windowed but trying to display the 3340 x 2280 resolution which obviously overlaps my available screen space, resulting in not being able to click on anything in-game that’s hidden by the monitor.

If I run via the NV Launcher the desired res is of course not available< I have to choose a much lower one. Any res I set in order to get a working screen space is then my vorpx game resolution but my mods are all available.

I need to find a way to have the cosmetic game monitor window not be the same size as my Vorpx one. Obviously MO2 doesn’t know I’m using a secondary display via the headset. Is there something I can set in custom.ini OR will making falloutprefs.ini read-only cause problems with the Vorpx process?

    @Greyhaim :
I guess you could not use DirectVR and check “Don’t Optimize game settings”.
Then you set a very high 4:3 resolution (for Quest 3 or Reverb G2) in game (use VorpX Beta and virtual monitor to enable any resolution you need).
I usually use 3840×2880 or at least 2880×2160 on my Reverb G2.
Try to set ClarityFX to full (and adjust sharpness).
    Unzoom full VR.

Then raise FOV (google “change fallout 4 fov”)

Try 120 and adjust it until you have the right scale (remember the value, it will be approximatively the same in every game).

    Adjust headtracking sensitivity.

    @dazzla :
I didn’t try Fallout 4, but when you use VorpX, you change resolution in game (or in .ini/.cfg game files).

You must usually change FOV too.

Most headset (Quest 3, Reverb G2) have a 4:3 resolution. So choose a resolution like 2880×2160 at least or 3840×2880 if your PC can handle it.

You must set a high FOV too (try 120 for example) to use full VR.

That’s what a native game would do. You just have to do it yourself if needed.

In Full VR, you should unzoom to the border of your view. It will be blurry if you zoom into the image.

    —-

If you can’t change the game resolution, maybe you should check “Don’t optimize game settings” in VorpX config.
Use VorpX Beta and virtual monitor to have any resolution you need, even if your monitor doesn’t handle it.
Last thing : games with detailed textures will be better, because you see every detail in VR…

This issue just started for me. Dragon’s Dogma, Fallout 3, etc. Anything but G3D just shows horizontal lines. Using Quest 3 via Link cable. Will keep playing around, but believe it’s a pretty recent issue.

    Good evening –

Whatever help I could get would be greatly appreciated. I am running a heavily modded Fallout 4: FROST build with the latest and greatest version of VORPX. There are several issues.

    1. VORPX hooks into Fallout 4 just fine
    2. The Edge Peek does not work – I have assigned it to multiple keys, mouse buttons – no dice.
    3. The VORPX In game menu does not work – I have assigned it to multiple keys, mouse buttons – no dice.
    4. The right eye on my Oculus 3 does not work. I have run it with Oculus air link as well as set it for a generic headset, a STEAM configuration with Virtual Desktop – no dice.
    5. The left eye works fine
    6. Even with the FOV set in the INI file to 100, 110, 112, 120, 125 – nothing changes. It is zoomed in so far that it is unplayable
    7. In troubleshooting I have:
    a. Removed the Fallout4 Upscaler
    b. Removed Shadow Boost
    C. Turned of all NVIDIA upscaling, sharpening, etc.
    d. Set the resolution options to all manner of different things – it makes no difference.

Any ideas you may have would be great!

    THanks

VorpX 21.3.5 had broken Geometric 3D for Fallout 76 so I updated to beta 24.1.0 and I cleared out the settings, and launched F76 and it seems to hook on just fine but its not sending the image to the VR headset which is strange, 21.3.5 worked excellent but now its not working anymore.

No idea what to do, I use HTC Cosmos, everything is up to date, SteamVR launches just fine, I can even do the new desktop viewer with my ancient very mediocre VR headset and it displays, soon as I launch F76 it wont display them at all, I see the game on my monitor though.

    PC Specs:
    Ryzen 5800X3D
    Radeon RX 6950XT

I can’t make sense of the desktops resolution vs the game.

Any desktop resolution of 1440p caused Fallout NV to crash when running directvr scan.

    I switched it to:

    1920 x 1080 landscape, 100%

This looked great and directvr scan worked!

Now I boot up the game and it’s a mess of pixels and I can’t figure out why. Vorpx auto resolution is off.

I’ve tried 4:3, 16:9/10 and most every combination possible and all of them look like a psvr1 game. Resolution is set to great.

After a game update in May 2023 the Geometry 3D rendering stopped working.
I’ve reset all VorpX and game settings to defaults and updated VorpX with no change.
Z-Normal still works, so VorpX is hooking the game properly.

When enabled, some lighting and effects like transparent glass shift to weird positions onscreen but not aligned to the scenery. Objects and terrain are all flat, with no 3D conversion being done.

It seems like some shader definitions must have changed IDs or structure and are no longer compatible with the profile. It looks like shaders which should be providing the object shapes aren’t being processed, while other shaders are being processed as the wrong type of shader.

Something similar happened back in 2019(ish) and after the September 2022 update, but these were fixed after later VorpX updates. There is a note from Ralf earlier in the forums mentioning shaders needing to be updated to fix those problems.

Any chance of an update coming for this game to work again?
Or has anyone managed to figure out how to fix the shaders?

I think the Game Settings sub forum is the best place for posts like that. Just create a new one when the profile is ready. Won’t take long anymore.

    BTW:

Personally I really like the game, at least the bits I saw so far. Judging from the player count on Steam Starfield isn’t quite the success that everyone hoped it would be though. Way less max players than Fallout 4 when it came out 2015. Only about a third of what super hits like Cyberpunk or Elden Ring recently had on launch. Heck, even Hogwart’s Legacy fared a lot better earlier this year, who would have predicted that…

Even considering a fair amount of extra players via Gamepass that doesn’t look too great for a huge Bethesda RPG in 2023. Still a title that deserves some extra attention, of course.

On the upside: at least that way they won’t get funny ideas about a Starfield 2 before returning to Elder Scrolls. :)

Perhaps the there is a launch Parameter option for DX11, that would be bombastic! Imagine we will have Starfield in G3D ? With a dx11 option we can try to fix the old profiles of Fallout and Skyrim, until Ralf releases a official vorpx profile. For dx12 only i will try profiles of Resident Evil Village first, followed by Death Stranding, Cyberpunk 2077, and RDR2.

I had to change Edgepeek from R3 to the View button. R3 was conflicting with Fallout 76’s sneak button. The View button is normally used to Toggle POV and Workshop. I don’t care about toggling POV but using the workshop may be a problem. vorpX gave me a message about this conflict but I was not paying attention and did not read it. For now I will take Edgepeek off the View button when I need to go in workshop mode.
