I’ve been tweaking this game for weeks now and just a few days ago, I discovered something that was literally a game changer. I’m not sure when Bethesda added this but it seems that in order to make custom setting changes and have them stick, you need to put them in the Fallout76Custom.ini, rather than where it was originally (to my knowledge) the Fallout76prefs.ini. This had been messing me up because any time I would try to change to a custom resolution, it would never stick–even changing the prefs.ini to read-only didn’t work; the game would undo the read-only change somehow.
Finally, I started looking into it and realized that custom changes go into the aptly named custom ini. I ignored it initially because it was completely blank, and this is the important part: Just by adding a single setting to this file (in my case, a custom resolution), after logging into the game and allowing Vorpx to change settings, it populated all of the changes that should have been taking effect originally. Suddenly I could see my weapon fully-rendered in 1st person! And my pipboy (arm-rendering included)! No longer were huge parts of my UI cut off! I honestly thought that was just the way it was with Vorpx in this game but I’m glad to say that just by putting a single setting into the custom.ini, Vorpx then knew to put it’s own settings in there as well and finally the game is mostly behaving like it’s supposed to with the profile Ralf made for it. (I’m guessing when he made the profile originally, they weren’t yet using the custom.ini thing?)
There are only two remaining issues so far: One of them is with the lockpick screen not showing when allowing Vorpx to auto-pick the resolution. The fix for this is setting it to a custom resolution. Since I only play in 1st person, I went with the highest 4:3 I could do which was 2880×2160, and all in all, it looks pretty damn good on my HP Reverb G2 headset. I also tried a 16:9 resolution too and it also rendered the lockpick screen, so it seems to be something with the auto-resolution option that’s doing it.
The other issue, that I have unfortunately been unable to figure out is with the strange graphics clipping/warping whenever I use a crafting station. Like, it will either shoot you through walls quite a distance away or even drop you through the floor if you’re unlucky (which may result in your death… yeah.) I’ve found that crouching while looking up as far as possible while approaching the crafting station, will sometimes put me where I’m supposed to be at the station, or at least it won’t throw me through the world. This has varying success and is currently the biggest hassle with playing this game in Vorpx (I dread crafting/repairing anything because of this). This also happens with computer terminals, but luckily, if you use the crouching method, it normally works much more consistently than with the crafting stations, for whatever reason.
Anyway, I hope this helps anyone else struggling with this game. This is a tough one to get running well, even on a capable PC like mine and I’ve conceded to using Z-normal for the FPS boost; it’s simply too slow with G3D and a decent resolution/settings (I’m using an overclocked 3080 with 12gb, for reference). It’s still an awesome experience though, once you get things tweaked to your liking.

Since december 2022, I can’t run Vorpx on my main PC properly both in HP Reverb G2 as Oculus Rift S (specs below).
Games like oblivion, fallout 3, fallout vegas skyrim… textures look blurred inside headset (I don’t know how to express it, it’s like a posterized image with much less quality) and all the games have much less performance even at minimum resolutions/quality. (on the monitor textures show properly, I don’t understand that)
When trying to run games in z normal or z adaptative, headset shows only colored lines on the image (on the monitor it shows perfectly again). What could be happenning?. I have made a clean vorpx reinstall without success.

I have version 21.3.3 of the Vorpx software which claims to support motion controls – and following various videos showing how to access the settings.
My Oculus Touch settings within Vorpx when a game is launched has no options for motion controls at all. I follow the menu screens but it appears Vorpx does not support the Meta Quest 2 touch controllers past button mapping.
I am trying to configure both Fallout 3 and Cyberpunk to include the gestures (which are included in version 21.3.3) however I have no options in my menus for configuring gestures at all.
If required, I can make a video showing what I see on my end, following guides, etc – I do not have the same menu options.
I followed the post here but couldn’t get the same options:
i have bought the software yesterday and have spend roughly 5 hours now trying to get this to work.
– i start windows
– start htc vive pro
– start vorpx
– goto steam and start fallout 4whatever i try, after a second my headset will shutdown – turn black and vorpx will throw the following error:
“OpenVR runtime init failed. vorpx will not work correctly. try to restart the game,steamvr or pc

6000 ddr5and using the htc vive pro 2. everything is updated.
i tried some combination in the general tab of vorpx config like
– dont optimize game settings
– run vorpx as admin
– installed hooking methods suggested by popup when it took too long.also tried to launch with the game with different graphic/resolution pre-sets, all without a different result.
if anyone could help me out a bit it would be greatly appreciated1
Hello I’m a total Vorpx noob who purchased the program just a couple days ago. For my first game I want to play Fallout 3 GOTY (which I last played way back in 2009 on PS3) with a bunch of mods (through Vortex) that hopefully will make the experience better in VR.
I finally got the game running pretty well on my new 4080 PC (Quest 2 through Virtual Desktop) in 90hz which seems to get rid of most of the weird warp stutter I experienced on 120hz. Playing in Full VR G3D on Phenomenal graphic setting.
Now I’m looking for advice on the best mods for playing the game in VR, and perhaps also advice on what mods to avoid in case they should be game-breaking in Vorpx. That’s where you experienced Vorpx Vault Hunters hopefully enter the equation!
I’ve been looking at Nexus collections like “Rebirth+” and “Vanilla But Kinda Better” and just taking whatever mods I feel like from there. I think I’ll avoid TTW for now. Nexus collections are here:

Mods I’ve installed so far: FOSE, Command Extender, ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated, Updated Unofficial F3 Patch, F3 Tic Fix… just basic stuff to get it running. I tried RH Iron Sights but didn’t like how gigantic the weapons became while aiming and the annoying swaying.

So I have vorpx, just bought it today. I have tried it with games and 1 everything locks up where on the desktop it’s fine but in the headset it’s frozen. This is so far for ALL games I load except fallout 3. Im about to try cyberpunk with the mod here soon. 2, I cant get into any in game menus for vorpx cause it locks up.
I’ve been testing out this new headset (coming from a Quest 2) and I’m running into strange problems that I can’t figure out. For instance, I just tried playing Half-Life 2, which always ran near perfectly on the quest (even with Airlink), and I’m getting constant de-syncing and lag, and also some weird issue where I’m seeing flashing mirror images of my weapons at times. I have no idea what could be causing this behavior. It was pretty bad in Fallout 76 as well, to the point I couldn’t really play it.
I know this isn’t a PC spec issue (running a 3080 OC, with a more than capable CPU) and again, these games ran fine on the Quest 2.
Any idea of what could be causing a wired headset have lag and desync issues like this? Thanks in advance.
(For the record, I’ve been using it to play Everquest (one of the main reasons I bought the reverb since only WMR headsets will work with this game for some reasons) and apart from some gamma issues and needing to use a gamepad to bring up and use the Vorpx menu, it’s been working fine for that.)
This past weekend, prior to today’s update, I have been playing Fallout 76 in Geometry 3D mode.
Today, after installing the update, Geometry 3D looks the same as No 3D Reconstruction, with the exception that lighting effects and shadows shift location slightly, as if it’s trying to work but doesn’t properly kick in.
Z-Normal and Z-Adaptive work as before.
Perhaps the update changed some settings?
Or, is there a change that stopped Geometry working?Appreciate any troubleshooting steps you can recommend.
