In reply to: What is with the controller assignments in GTA 5
SR212787ParticipantYes I am updated on all ends. I’m talking about the left stick here, not the right. and there are still button issues.
It worked before, and now it doesn’t. When I get in a car, I can move my head independently (right stick) from moving the car (left stick). When I get in an aerial vehicle it should work the same as there is no difference in game, there shouldn’t be a difference with Vorpx on.
In single player getting into first person is difficult because the select button can’t tell between a press and a long press, which is the button that controls view and interaction menu.
In multiplayer pressing either trigger while in a car brings the gun up half the time. These triggers are used for acceleration and brake. The left bumper is for bringing up the gun.
I admit that this newer version is now smoother and works better than it did, but the change to the aerial vehicle controls, still issues with buttons and the now lack of 3D. I’m sure there are similar issues with many games that are in the list of “games that work”. The only thing Vorpx needs to do is override the right stick and mouse.
Nov 17, 2015 at 12:06am #91310In reply to: Fallout 4??
FormulaRedlineParticipantI wanted to report that I’ve been playing Fallout 4 basically exclusively with the Oculus and vorpX (went through he tutorial in 2D until I could see all the parts of the HUD to make sure I wasn’t missing anything when switching to 3D).
The Z3D mode works surprisingly well. Not the crappy Z3D I remember from the “old days” of Nvidia 3D Vision with Cryengine games. I cranked the seperation in the vorpX settings and moved the slider all the way to the foreground. Depth is great, there is some Z3D induced shimmering around close foreground objects (e.g. your weapon or close in characters). The HUD seems to be put at the depth of the background. That actually helps make it easy to aim and read though at the cost of some of the text being a bit disjointed at times as it rolls over different objects. Nothing that will stop your from reading it.
The FOV setting are a bit tricky. Basically, you have to change it in 3 different files, as explained in detail here:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=551069501&tscn=1447077828I settled on 130 FOV for first person with 1:1 Pixel mode and the image zoomed all the way in. If you want to be able to see the compass at the bottom of the screen, just zoom the image out a bit (just a few Shift+Mousewheel clicks) though I find that makes terminals a bit harder to read. Maybe you can compensate with less FOV. With these settings, I tend to zoom out (middle mouse button) for crafting, building, or trading where I need to see the full HUD across the entire screen.
The FOV command in the ~ console actually controls the FOV for your gun and PIP Boy. So you can set the PIP boy “size” independent of your game FOV, which is nice. You can make it readable no matter game FOV you use.
I would also recommend taking out the mouse smoothing and adjusting the vertical mouse sensitivity as described in that same Steam guide (linked above) before adjusting your headtracking sensitivity in the vorpX settings.
So a few things to tweak, but it works great! Thanks for the early support, vorpX!
VirualParticipantthanks for the reply. Since osvr announce months ago that vorpx is one of the supporters, I thought the support was in process. You’re saying that will probably be added, does that mean some work has already begun or its not even started?
Since we’re on the subject of support, does Vorp have any support for SteamVR / OpenVR? I can use the hdk threw thoses as well if thats supported. Thanks again.

RalfKeymasterI literally drove and walked around for hours in GTA 5, which for me was already one of the best VR experiences to date, but actually never really played long enough to get a gun…
Trying with a savegame from the internet I also get this behavior though. Including the unwanted recordings, which apparently also happened before, just never realized it. This probably is the worst part of this glitch as it spams peoples hard drives with unwanted GTA5 videos.
No promises, but I will look into this. It’s not supposed to happen, and if it’s fixable, it will be fixed.

earsParticipantJust a bit more info to try and help.
When I hold the brake button down (in car) the player’s gun keeps appearing and disappearing as if I am repeatedly pressing the left shoulder button. If I was to just hold the left shoulder button (like i’m holding the left brake trigger in) then the player’s gun would come out and stay out.
So even though I’m just holding the left trigger, while I’m holding it in, it seems to be causing the effect of the left shoulder button being pressed repeatedly, rather than just held in.
Hope this makes sense.

earsParticipantBut it only happens when VorpX is running right? I don’t see these extra control effects happening unless VorpX is running.
If VorpX is not running, the brake / reverse happens without the gun popping up and pressing green does not start a recording.

KarlorParticipantShould be a few ways in the GTAV thread. The recording is just something I turned off by turning it to the lowest mem setting then letting it fill up. The reverse gun pull is what it is too it doesn’t effect game play much, its odd for sure but also funny lol
Nov 1, 2015 at 4:57pm #90900In reply to: GTA V – Official Recommendation
earsParticipantPlease could anyone help me with the FOV mods?
I have a nVidia 980Ti and running Windows 8.1. VorpX 0.9, Oculus runtime 0.8.
I can get GTA V to run with VorpX but I can’t get it running if either FOV mod is enabled – either the flawless widescreen, or a ‘dsound’ dll mod.
If I try to run GTA V with a FOV mod installed I just hear a few initial sounds – a smash and a gunshot then it crashes. GTA then offers me a safe mode. Sometimes I can run in safe mode but as soon as I try to change the display settings back to 1920×1080, or back to full screen, it crashes again.
Is there anything I can do to get the FOV fixes working with VorpX?
Thanks for any suggestions.

bluepillParticipantBrilliant!
Thanks for this Cyclon; this is a very big improvement!
Now truly able to play missions with my DK2 :-)
We all owe a lot to guys like you!Some questions;
– for my eyes some text is still a bit small to read; can text size be customized too?
– I noticed that the cross-hair for the gun (white dot) is not in the correct position; but this might have to do with my FOV mod or GTA itself.
But maybe, you have an idea about that.FOV mod I am using:
I made a mod for freely setting your first-person field of view.
byu/DrDaxxy inGrandTheftAutoV_PCFOV mod Fov.ini settings
[FirstPerson]
Walking = 89
Car = 95
Aiming = 89
Crouching = 89
ADS = 89Jasper

SlashParticipantYes i’ve used the game optimizer for Outlast before i’ve started the game and it said “settings applied”.
So after that i’ve tested Crysis and Portal… the same thing. The gun in Crysis / Portal looks like it’s 10m. I just don’t get it. No matter what i try in the ingame vorpx menu… nothing helps :/
Apr 9, 2015 at 7:30am #80880In reply to: Weird Distortion
KarlorParticipantI would say its the FOV needs to be increased for sure. That will help. I have noticed, with BioShock 1 especially, that it has a more fish-eye/bubble distortion then other games. I think its the DX9 it uses or something. What I did to limit this is increase FOV of the game then I used vorpX options to “stretch” it around (2d FOV I think, and others) until it looked better. BioShock 1 is one of the more noticeable distorted games. Its the age I think. Jericho looked for me to have the same style of distortion, it can be managed though. Also for Biohock 1 the FOV increases but the scale of your hands and guns never changes. In most games when you increase FOV it zooms out and you can see more of the character model. The way Bioshock works it doesn’t effect the scale of your character so it can seem a little funky. Also the hacking is an insane pain in the Rift, I use a mod to just get rid of it.
If you want to be really blown away play BioShock Infinite on the Rift. I played it and all the DLC, twice lol
Mar 13, 2015 at 3:58am #80458In reply to: Feature Request: Change HT sensitivity on ADS
OculusRiftRocksParticipantThanks Ralf, I’m sure you will understand when you try out homefront, I think all weapons were effected by it, but a handgun may be less of an issue so try it with an assault rifle, honestly aiming down sights with your head is borderline unplayable in many games, just need to increse the sensitivty higher when doing that, note that you can’t just increase the general sensitivity to make ADS feel normal, beacause then when aimnig from the hip it will be too sensitive.
I realize homefront lets you do that in the in game options, but the idea is that vorpx can do it so that it works for all games
willypatParticipantPerfect example of someone who should never have bought a DK2. How many out there think the thing is plug and play?…Vorpx works very well for Skyrim. Edge Peek is essential with this game. You have to put a little time in for it to work well. Like Ralf said 120 fov. Others tweeks are important also. Research what others have done. My hydra works perfectly for controls. I can never go back to xbox controller. Would even go back to keyboard and mouse over xbox controller. Before ranting at least show you put some time into setting up things properly. Vorpx menu is easily readable in game..never heard that issue before. Clicking on the menu without firing your gun until empty is a problem ..my bad for not changing to a knife.
Jan 12, 2015 at 10:53am #27201In reply to: Vorpx Not Displaying on DK2
evemsa1ParticipantThanks a lot! I finally got it working after fiddling with settings and restarting my comp like 3 times, lol. One question though, when I’m playing a game like Skyrim or Payday2, I’m not fully immersed in the game because I can still hit the edge of the screen with my view, and that moves the entire view off center. When I want to aim down the sights of my gun or bow, its off to the side or a little to low and I have to constantly be looking around me until the screen is re centered just to be thrown off again, anyone know of a fix?
