Hey guys so I recently bought VorpX and was really really looking forward to Alien Isoltion. Unfortunately, i was put off with the experience as it was TOO ZOOMED in. Needed to press the center mouse wheel for the edge peek all the time, even to start a “new game” or “load game”.
It runs ok if I play it on Cinema mode but I dont want to do that. Any specific settings to get the game running normally on the DK2?

Ok, what’s stopping you from buying Vorpx?.
You obviously have a Rift, you know what the graphics look like from demo’s. If you like the feel of the Rift and you like the list of games supported, why not get Vorpx?.
It’s Cheaper than going down the pub for one evening.
I’m pretty sure if you can afford a Rift and the pc to use it then it can’t be a money issue ;-)

If it works why so fast to remove it? I get what you mean, they push forward even if it shakes up what’s been done. That can be a good thing, a great thing. But unless they have something cooked up that really works then removing things feels odd. Unless you have a solution don’t clip the cord just for the sake of clipping. If its going to change in the next 3 updates then they should hold back. If something sort of works and you want to replace it with something that sort of works, that’s not moving forward. That’s just changing out one wrong thing for another. They have a ton of talent in their ranks so they should be able to come up with a solution that works and is easy adaptable for people helping push their product. Think of oculus as the company version of a child star. They take off big, lots of fame-hype.. Then if they don’t watch it it becomes too much too fast. Companies can become bloated and the corporate structure can begin to have negative effects on what they call progress. Anyway I hope they get it down and everybody can be happy and have fun when it comes out.

I think that removing extended is a good thing and something that we all knew would happen eventually regardless, so why not get it out of the way now rather than later? I understand it’s a pain in the ass to deal with and I’m happy I don’t have anything in active development that needs updating at the moment, but contrary to what you are stating about things running worse Ralf, there isn’t a program I have tried that doesn’t run better, out of everything I have found working for 0.7 so far.

Thank you FIrst Day. For wrap do you intend enlarging the two screens seen by the two eyes? I mean you intend to create the illusion of a surrounding environment? you mean this? Thank you again.

I’m trying to get the oculus DK2 to work with FS2015, but even Vorpx refuses to work…

+First Day Reviews Got VD… haven’t tried with FS15, but it should look kinda “big screen only”, isn’t it? however, FS15 graphic engine (Giant?) made quite a leap regard the previous version: SLi now is supported (seems to work at least). Don’t know why things such AA and AF are capped to “8x” natively. I can see that it has some geometrical “native limitation” when trying to play with VR: in the cockpit mode, you cannot look all the way up to the roof, for instance… but it would look great however. Oh and btw, nice rig you have there ;)

+Thomas Samoht doesn’t work on any of the injectors, the only way to get it to “sort of” work is to download virtual desktop and use that, its far from perfect but the only thing you can use to make it work at all.

Hy Thomas Samoht and First Day Reviews. I’m a student of master degree in Psychology at the university of Padua (Italy). Im conducting some researchers on a specific type of cloche for excavators in ergonomy and neuropsychology. I’m using both farming simulator2013 and farming simulator 2015 paired to oculus dk2. I’d like to know if someone of you two can give me some informations about how make farming simulator 15 (or 2013 if you prefer) to work with oculus dk2. In case this might make me to run some experiments on the usage of excavator using an immersive situation with the rift. Do you think this is possible or not? if its the case how do I have to do to let all this to work? thanks a lot. With my best regards. Nicolo’

I’m using Garry’s mod but between the Oculus 6.0 runtime being screwed up, downgrading to 5, reinstalling Vorpx a few times, but I can’t get it to engage. It DOES ask windows permission to use vorp control to modify the hard drive and I hit YES. I start steam as admin, vorpx as admin, the game shortcut as admin but it never engages. The resolution is screwed up (like when looking at desktop with oculus) and DEL doesn’t bring up the game menu. (I really think vorpx just isn’t launching alongside the game even though the icon is really there (and I doublecheck to make sure I get the “vorpx is already running” message.

Thoughts? Should I try downgrading to 4.1. runtime? I had success then. Or is it possible that STEAM VR is screwing up something. (Anarchy Arcade doesn’t work anymore VR wise )

EDIT: I should mention, a game like Just Cause 2 comes up and works just fine it seems.

After wasting hours and hours on this product, I’m at the breaking point.

I’ve read all the dam guides 3x over and even “supported” games like Portal will not run for me.

I managed to get a regular non-supported 2d game to run on the virtual screen, but the jutter is so bad it’s gonna make throw up.

Guys, does anyone launch GTA V with DK2+Vorpx on laptop?

    I did! Specs:
    HP 8730W
    i7-3630qm cpu @ 2.4 Ghz (good enough)
HD radeon 7700M (gpu 40% overclocked, mem 15% overclocked)

With vorpx driver and https://github.com/drdaxxy/gta5fov/releases , running 1920*1080 all graphicsettings as low as possible, I get 40 fps.

Question: Anyone knows where the seperation (3d strength) can be put at above the 2.00 maximum that is possible from the ingame menu(when i press del) . For my liking(letting it look as real as possible) even the maximum 2.00 setting is way too low.
    Thanks in advance

I completely agree with this review, it points out the key pros and cons of Vorpx. Also, in a sea of complaints there should be some positive reviews coming from satisfied users. Fortunately, I encountered only one issue with VorpX where it didn’t hook to Metro Last Light but the problem got solved easily with Metro LL Redux version. Except that, all the games ran flawlessly, I finished BF3, BF4, Metro series and Stalker series so far. It has been my dream to be able to play Stalker Misery mod in VR and VorpX made that dream come true. So I have nothing but respect for Ralf and his creation.

Initially I didn’t wanted to give money for a 3-rd party driver so I tried the free Vireio Perception which does a pretty good job for a few games, but has VR boost and user interface issues, frame counter impacts performance heavily etc. But all that only works on nVidia GPUs, I’m an AMD Radeon user and almost every supported game doesn’t hook in VR properly or has severe issues after level or savegame loading. Vireio developers said on reddit that they all have nVidia GPUs and will optimize for AMD in the future. So I had no other choice for playing great non-VR games in VR, other than VorpX. So after days of reading long reviews and watching youtube videos, I decided to purchase VorpX and after 2 months of daily VR gaming my conclusion is: damn was it worth it !

It has a very well made Windows and in-game interface with lots of useful options to set the best possible VR image. And after doing that a few times, it gets very easy and the user can port those settings from one game to the next, making only a few modifications to fine tune the experience. If the VR image is set properly, with best calibration, FOV, aspect ratio, head tracking sensitivity, edge peek screen distance etc, you can obtain a very immersive experience that is way better than playing the game on 2D displays. Most of the games I played were in Z-buffer mode which is a “less 3D” way of experiencing a game, but still 3D enough to perceive the spatial depth of objects. Generally this is the way most games are played in VorpX because only a few are compatible with Geometry 3D. Of course, Geometry 3D is the best way to go, total immersion, feels like a native VR game, but has a higher impact on performance which might be a problem if it’s a demanding next gen game and the GPU and system are not very strong. If you have a high end system, Geometry 3D will not decrease performance in most cases.

If you don’t have an issue with playing a game with mouse and keyboard or controller on DK2, or if you get used to doing that, I see no problem with playing games using VorpX, it feels very professional, the interface doesn’t miss any needed option, it’s easy and intuitive, it is very stable and if the user is lucky enough not to encounter the issues I sometimes read on this forum, then it is worth the price in my opinion, seeing how many AAA games will you be able to play in VR. The only small inconvenience I had throughout these 2 months of VR gameplay was the fact that not all games can be set to move the HUD elements towards the center of the display in order to be visible in DK2 and some games like Fallout 3, Skyrim or Stalker series which have RPG elements (inventory, map, dialogue interface etc) are displaying them in fullscreen which can’t be entirely visualized in VR. In order to bypass this issue, you click the middle mouse (scroll) button to enter Edge Peek mode to view the whole screen like a projection in front of you and look in the corners of the screen using head tracking. And if the text descriptions are too small or some objects are not clearly visible, you can decrease/increase the distance between the Edge Peek screen and your face (Expert options must be enabled). After a few days of use I adjusted to this method just fine, it comes naturally now, so I guess it’s not such a major issue.

In conclusion, if you love VR gaming and can tolerate DK2’s screen door effect, VorpX is the best solution to this date. All it takes is a few tweaks and settings, occasionally using an external FOV tool like Flawless Widescreen and you’re all set. The issues that some users are having with VorpX are generally caused by other software products that interfere/prevent VorpX to function properly or incorrect setup of DK2/games/VorpX. Best way of making a decision is to read as many user experiences and reviews as possible. I for one, am completely satisfied, as it made possible playing my favorite games in VR in a much better way than initially expected. Fully recommended 10/10, kudos to Ralf and any other parties involved in making VorpX.

There is not mutch to do to get it to work…
I am little confused that it aint native bacwards supported on OR drivers :/

Sad thing is there are many games that are working with VR only with DK1 and porting those to DK2 is unpossible like old Unreal demos…
And some other engines that cannot handle positional tracking at all :/

Even I have bought many games that are now unplayable because no positional tracking support… only DK1 support with motion tracking… Majosr sad thing is that all those WORK in DK2 just tracking is missing :/ so we only need little progran that can emulate DK2 motion tracking to DK1 motion tracking and lets forget whole position trackin stuff…
    It will work!

0.6.0 is absolutely not worth of installing… YET!
there are 98% of games and demos that still runs even in 0.4 :O
(those can be used with 0.5.1 but deffinetly not with 0.6)
When I tested that newest 0.6.0 I didnt get anything of my hundreds of games and demos to run properly anymore…

So yes Stick in 0.5.1 !

And also I recommended to get familiar with “Open on Oculus Rift” command that is really helpful with VorpX if you got problems to get image run on Rift (no need to make Rift as primary desktop anymore)

Instructions to make it on your PC are here :)

Hello VR world! Man has it been cool to re experience these games on the Oculus. Except for the one I really want :( If anyone can help me out I’d really appreciate it. I’ve clicked pretty much every relevant google search and forum post but I get the error “Failed to initialize renderer. Unknown error creating the renderer”

I’ve tried messing with every possible setting on my resolutions, skyrim graphics, oculus config and vorpx config. I’ve checked and unchecked everything, even played with the preference file, went full screen, tried the adapter 1 trick. I’ve tried reinstalling the game, removing mods and doing a clean vanilla install, updating drivers. Nothing is working. My specs are Intel Core i7-4710MQ CPU @ 2.50 GHz, 16gb RAM, Intel HD Graphics 4600. And Geforce Gtx 980m.

    Attached my current settings.

Thank you again for your time :)

Both Mirror’s Edge and Outlast can be optimized with the Game Settings Optimizer in the vorpX config app (2. in the above answer). If that fails or isn’t available for a game, the first thing you schould try is 3. from the list above. The vorpX ingame menu can be displayed in every game when it runs with vorpX.

Here’s the FOV part of the Essential Game Hints for your convenience again:

You can get most games look almost perfect in this regard. And even for those that do not offer FOV control, neither directly, nor through vorpX, there are functions in vorpX to make them playable, although not in a perfect way.

From best to worst here is what you can do:

    1. Set the game FOV directly in the game if it provides to dial in an FOV of 120°,
    2. Set the game FOV directly with the vorpX Game Optimizer (vorpX config app) for games that support it.
    3. Set the game FOV to 120 manually through an ini tweak or external tool (avaliable for many games, google FOV + game name).
    4. Use the 3D FOV Enhancement in the vorpX ingame menu (availabe in Geometry 3D games).
    5. Use one of the letterbox aspect ratio modes in the vorpX ingame menu and/or ImageZoom
    6. Play the game in Virtual Cinema Mode
    7. Use the 2D FOV-Enhancement in the vopX ingame menu (be aware that this distorts the image)

    WOW something changed!

I does work, but i dont get it to display on my Rift.

Even when i select the rift as my main monitor the game starts on my Benq Monitor.
I even tired selecting the Rift in Vorpx instead of Use system settings but that didnt help it.

Is there a way to force my system to display it on my Rift?
