    oh man

@thebalt, Got me all hyped up for this, but its not in 3D. No ZNormal or adaptive or anything. It says it does, but its definitely not showing in 3D. I used the only profile on the cloud.

oh man i dunno what mightve happened in subsequent updates – i played this about 10 months ago.. but it was def doing adaptive and stuff when i played. im sorry, not sure what mightve happened :\

even looked up reddit thread from the original profile maker from like 11 months ago… heres the thread if maybe you wanted to give him a shout and see if he can look at it. sorry dude, but youll see his reddit name is same as his username in vorpx… ill try download evil within 2 again and see what profile in vorpx it was using and maybe i did some work on it, i cant recall.. let me get it downloaded and try launching and see what it does, if it works, ill just post profile for you, no guarantees tho cause i worked off what he had, so i dont know if a patch or something messed this all up

Now that destiny 2 has moved to steam, has anyone been successful in getting vorpx to play nicely with destiny 2? I am currently upgrading my pc and won’t be able to test it for a bit but I have played destiny 2 on my PSVR and it feels really nice. I am assuming that on vorpx it would be even better.

So I’m trying to get this to work. Everything seems to be working but the head tracking. Head tracking is barely working for me with the game pad. I did the X-Box Gamepad Override option on full which made it work a little bit. The head tracking will work for a little bit and than stop. It will work for a little bit again, and stop again. And when it does work, the screen moves with it a little bit as well. It works consistently when using the motion controllers. But the screen still moves with it a little but when I turn my head. Anyone else seeing this or have any ideas? I just renamed the file to IndianaWindowsStore-Win64-Shipping.exe, copied the Conarium vorpx profile, and then changed the gamepad override to full. I’m fairly new to this, so maybe I’m doing something wrong. Might wait for the official profile.

I’m using a Samsung Odyssey+ headset and my computer specs are below.

sorry drey i thought i knew your problem and i didnt and ran into it too and think i got an easy solution, apologies on the delay, i thought i knew what issue you had and i was ignorant. hope this works

Wanted to add a note for people playing with controller and running into headtracking issues – i messed with it for a bit and had trouble as well, i couldnt find a way to make it work, ignorance of vorpx settings im sure but got a workaround or anyone with the issue.

launch steam big picture – go to controller configs – set your desktop controller config to wasd mouse presetting or whatever the label it has, exit big picture with that as your confirmed control format for ‘desktop’ use

exit big picture but keep steam active

your ps4 or xbox controller should move around in windows now, if it worked, sticks will move mouse.

we want xbox console companion to only ‘see’ a mouse and keyboard, your now ‘mouse and keyboard controller’. do not launch xbox console companion thru steam, launch it normally as its own program

your console companion should now think youre just on a mouse keyboard, games headtracking should work fine now, but youll be getting keyboard shortcuts for tooltips and such, may have to configure a few buttons but your headtracking issue should be eliminated

now if youre on a dualshock4, you can also set the trackpad button in middle for a ‘touch’ and ‘push’ setting, you can assign touch to P for your image ‘zoom out’ and ‘push’ to del for your vorpx settings change options.

hope that helps – real profile will be here soon so thisll be irrelevant, but anyone who wanted to play now, this should work for those controller headtracking issues

Unfortunately that didn’t work for me. It still works for a little bit (with the screen moving a little bit with it), then stops. Works for a bit then stops. I might just wait for an official profile to see if it helps. Wish it was available in Steam now so I could see if that worked better

okay my last resort here – i messed with vorpx in menu settings and stuff for my controller, i dont know if i hit the right things and got it working, but this did work for me. im going to upload my outerworlds profile, youll find it in vorpx cloud saves, my name there is TheBaltar ; testingowdrey is the name, try using that if you wanna give it one last try

Still no dice for me unfortunately. Have the same issue of the head tracking initially working, than stopping after a couple seconds. Starting again, and than stopping. It always stops if I try to turn with my right thumbstick. It always works if I’m moving around my left thumbstick. But than stops when I stop moving my left thumbstick. It worked randomly in between that. I really appreciate the help though. I think my issue is something outside of what Vorpx settings can fix.

It does work with my motion controllers, but they just don’t have enough buttons. I have WMR which has touchpad and thumb sticks. Wish I could use the touchpad clicks as individual buttons lol.

i got it working on oculus touch controllers, you just gotta spend time in game controller and vorpx in game menu, but with the grips acting as shortcuts, you can assign even more actions than with a controller. it takes like 10 minutes to get it set up, but it works. just launch xbox app normally, vorpx normally, have your oculus controllers in hand, go to keyboard settings and just map the buttons out – the look problem will be 100% gone and up and running.. but you gotta put the time in to set the controls, takes like 10-15 min depending on how quick you are

shoot/look around etc are already mapped properly, just use the regular buttons on reload/jump/crouch/etc, then the trigger change buttons to things like companion commands and youre up and running, no headtracking issues and honestly even more abilities than controller anyways

I couldn’t get the head tracking with Conarium, but was able to with Conan Exiles. The graphics aren’t looking great though and it’s very sluggish. This is the epic stores version. Instead of using the TheOuterworlds.exe I had to use the file that is in the Indiana folder (Indiana something .exe)

keyboard still broke so sorry for short response ..

did you try launching with keyboard/mouse – no gamepad? if that fixes tracking issue then you just need to find a program that tricks pc into taking controller inputs as mouse keyboard actions. steam supports this out of the box with steam controller config, i just tested and you can put epic game launcher in steam – if keyboard mouse fixed ur issues, right click epic game launch in steam, controller needs to be plugged in -go to browse configs – templates and select wasd and mouse – apply configuration. launch epic from steam thinking u on keyboard mouse – then just make control adjustments in game or in steam controller App to replicate games unique controls, youll just have to fiddle with that

for better performance i cant help much cause of stores – but when you launch have task manager open, right click that indiana file – click details – right click it again and try setting to realtime, if that doesnt work, try high 2nd time

obviously reboot game before doing these in sequence.. but im in dark for you with egs sorry . hope that helps

tthe conariumm profile seems to work for 99% of people.. make sure to include directvr settings when importing.

    if outerworlds.exe wouldnt connect to vorpx, do this trick;

Go to your desktop, just hit “Create new text document”.. Rename that document to TheOuterWorlds.exe (itll say itll create a corrupt file or whatever- doesnt matter, just make it)

make new profile for outerworldsbut direct it the fake .exe we just made – vorpx will attach even tho its a bullshit file just cause its on lookout for anything with that name

Thanks for our good man Ralf’s brilliance – this will make Vorpx look for ANY TheOuterWorlds.exe being launched – even the real one

TBH I don’t really know why you need to create these text files. For me the game hooks without doing that (also using the game pass version).

Would be great to get a few more opinions regarding this. If anyone else is currently tinkering with game pass games, please let me know whether you have to create a file with the .exe name or not. Thanks!

My findings so far are that traditional Win32 games seem to work fine (not counting potential DirectVR issues due to Windows Store specific config paths that vorpX is not aware of (yet)).

its an admin thing that i cant find a workaround for even tho im on my full privileges account [as far as i can tell], just doesnt let you do anything in windowspapps folder where this stuff is – im stumped on it, dunno, i would give you more to work with that, Ralf – but i got no clue why either

edit;n this might be important for us to fix tho cause your gamepass directvr may get denied if this work that way

Okay, i think i have a ‘fix’ for your situation, but it might require you to do some ‘small work’ in steam controller configuration.

Launch steam – go to Library – at the bottom select’add nonsteam game’ and find the Xbox Console Companion app on your computer, select it and add it to steam. From there, if youre using and Xbox controller, PS4 controller or Steam controller – right click “Steam Controller Configuration” – or if you have the new update for steam, you will right click in THEN select ‘manage’ then select “Controller Configuration” on the Xbox Console Companion app, now listed in your steam library.

You MUST have a controller, ps4, xbox or steam controller plugged in for these options to even appear.

Once you are in the edit controller configuration, you are almost done – choose “browse configs” at the bottom of the controller configuration screen and go to “Templates” – click on Keyboard (WASD) and Mouse – and then select ‘apply configuration’.

Now, launch the Xbox console companion through Steam and it should now recognize, in Xbox console companion and games on the service – should – be interpreting your ‘controller’ as a keyboard/mouse. This will give you free look 24/7 in game, but you may have to change some bindings in game to make sure they are the same buttons as your steam controller configuration.. that will take you a few minutes, i dont have a profile made for that yet or id just give it to you, but if you follow this method, it should alleviate your problem

Unfortunately Xbox Console Companion doesn’t show up for me when I go to add non-Steam games. But in some digging, I noticed The Outer Worlds exe file is located in G:\WindowsApps\PrivateDivision.TheOuterWorldsWindows10_1.0.369.0_x64__hv3d7yfbgr2rp\TheOuterWorlds.exe for me. The default location if you don’t change your Xbox install location is C:\Program Files\WindowsApps. You have to change the permissions to access the location. Not sure if that helps anyone with Vorpx or not lol.

install GLoSc – its safe, look it up

when you have glosc open create new > name : Xbox

    check in ‘launch game.’

    path: Microsoft.XboxApp_8wekyb3d8bbwe!Microsoft.XboxApp

    save. add all to steam.

try that, my keyboard is busted srry for short instructions

see if works by launching new app in library, xbox

TheBalt – Thanks so much for reporting this. Can’t wait to try it out!

No worries, im happy if i can help get Obsidian games running for folks – but i did need to add an addendum to my ‘fix’.

And to everyone else who is experiencing gamepass issues, i have been dealing with this troubleshooting situation on Reddit as well with other people and there is one, potentially vital thing i need to add:

I had preloaded the game through Xbox Console Companion – days before release. Release day had a patch, when i started experiencing crashes, my default move after seeing it crash multiple times was do just do an uninstall/full reinstall in case Day 1 patch had botched up any preload files… upon talking to people on Reddit further trying to do the fix with the ‘services’ tab… i am getting more responses that doing full uninstall/reinstall is doing the trick THEN doing the services thing.

Let me know if anyone has any questions!

and to Ralf – Thanks for the heads up on the headtracking thing w gamepad – even with my years of vorpx with dk2 to cv1 im still ignorant to your work :( lol thank you!

Okay – update – i think I figured out a fix for the Xbox PC Game Pass Console Companion players and the game should run fine now.. if you were experiencing the same problem I was. I thought it was a ram leak, as you can see from my previous post, but after watching task manager a bit more closely i think i found the culprit AND the fix, all without having to mess up your PC or download any software or go into any INI files.

Okay, so i have been messing with the game for awhile and getting crashes every couple minutes of playtime. I thought it was a memory leak issue, as i said before, totally wrong now.

Okay, so when you Launch Outer Worlds, if you have you task manager open you will see it doesnt JUST LAUNCH Outer Worlds, it launches TWO seperate applications (this is the most important thing, this separate application is what is killing your game, and i think i found a simple work around for it)

So the second application, should, if you have Task Manager up AS YOU LAUNCH Outer Worlds, it should be called – IndianaWindowsStore-Win64-Shipping.exe . This is the culprit, its not a malicious program or anything, but this is why we are crashing.

So, as soon as it pops up, right click it and go to Details, immediately. From there, right click it again and go to Services. I was able to identify what it was -trying- to do mid game, but the services it was trying to access were not automatically enabled on my PC, for whatever reason, Xbox Console Companion just didnt turn these things ‘on’.

So once youre at services, at the bottom of the page should be a series of Xbl and Xbox labeled services. Right click each one and make sure it is set to “start”, some of these were not “on” for my PC by default.

In reality – i managed to fix this is one run thru and i dont wanna lie, i might have missed a service and if i did, im sorry, but i have no way to replicate exactly what i did, but i got the gaming running, no crashes, switching between ultra 4k textures to lows, mediums and in and out of full screen and full screen windowed without crashes for an extended period of time. I think we were just running into an issue of Xbox Console Companion being a new app and maybe the devs were just dealing with a later version than ours is by default and those services were just ‘clicked on’ already on their end, or something along those lines.

If you want to be completely sure, just go thru and enable pretty much every microsoft service that isnt running – there might be others that are ‘pinging’ the store, but, if you dont believe me on a cursory glance, just open OuterWorlds and look at the Task Manager and see that second exe file going to “Not responding” randomly – thats whats breaking the game, its pinging for these services, not finding them, then just eventually killing the game.

Atleast thats the best i can make of it so far – and none of this is digging into your harddrive or destroying any of your files, you can turn all these services on and off as you see fit – but i think the ones to target are going to be the ones labeled Xbl and Xbox labeled ones and then, I think, you should be good to go.

Good luck to anyone else who was having the same issue – i think youll be able to unlock your framerates and everything else too, i think this was the problem, i saw people saying 60 fps was helping stop crashes, but i think youll be able to pop above 60 now.

Take care, hope this helps someone

EDIT, might make a difference or not :just tried testing it again – when you right click IndianaWindowsStore-Win64-Shipping.exe – its unorthodox, but set its priority to “real time” – again, i was crashing all day and these changes worked for me. good luck

Okay – just so everyone knows whats going on with this game if youre trying to get it running with Vorpx Conarium’s profile.

The game, as far as i can tell – has a memory leak. You get no error, no code, Vorpx hooks in just fine, but after a few minutes, game crashes.

I have now tried the game 3 times without Vorpx/Oculus/Steam running and have crashed 3 times without any of those programs involved.

I saw some people say they were seeing less crashes with setting themselves to 60 fps max, and i did see the game ‘last longer’ on that setting, but the result, in Vorpx or not in Vorpx, was eventually a crash.

I am not an expert in tech stuff, but when ive seen this issue arise in other games (crashing after an indeterminate amount of time, anything as short as 2-3 minutes, as long as 15-20); it usually ends up being a memory leak.

If anyone finds a way to fix this or they patch it up, I think the game will run just fine in Vorpx through the Game Pass store and the method I have outlined above with connecting it to Vorpx with a ‘fake’ text document and using the Conarium profile w/ DirectVR settings ‘checked in’ when you create the Outer Worlds profile.

Sorry i couldnt find a fix for this today, but the game appears to look great in 3d and run well – but i think what we are looking at is an engine issue we will just have to wait for them to resolve.

All that being said – if you want the game to run properly w/ proper headtracking – you cant just use an xbox controller. If you default to controller, you lose the ‘mouse look’ of the headset and thus headtracking. You will have to use a third party software, I was using GloSC, tying it to my ‘desktop configuration’ and making the game think i was launching with a mouse/keyboard when i was really using my PS4 controller’s configuration, launched Xbox Console Companion thru Steam.

So – i think this is unfortunately a bug we wont be able to squash today due to an issue with the game itself, not Vorpx or it’s profiles.

if anyone finds a fix for this, what i assume is a memory leak, please feel free to add it here!

Thanks everyone for your time, sorry if i wasted it with my rambling today but was trying to help us get this bad boy up and running – if you got it, go ahead and launch it and check it out, it looks good with the Conarium profile.. but it probably wont hold for very long. So i dont think my crashes earlier had anything to do with Normal vs adaptive 3d in Vorpx, just memory leak by the game itself.

Let me know if anyone finds any other insights! take care everyone!

Okay, so Xbox Game pass on PC requires you to launch this application, Xbox Console Companion and the files for these games are under Program Files – Windows Apps..

Anyways, Vorpx, by default, will NOT attach to TheOuterWorlds.exe – Microsoft has some serious security on this stuff and for whatever reason, Vorpx gets denied even if youre signed in as Admin to ‘attach’ it to the game.

So heres a trick to get around Microsoft’s BS. Go to your desktop, just hit “Create new text document”.. Rename that document to TheOuterWorlds.exe (itll say itll create a corrupt file or whatever- doesnt matter, just make it)

Thanks for our good man Ralf’s brilliance – this will make Vorpx look for ANY TheOuterWorlds.exe being launched – even the real one, despite the fact that Microsoft locked it up behind super admin BS.

So, long story short, if you have Xbox Game Pass on PC and you cant get Vorpx to attach to the file itself, fuck it – just make a text document, name it the same as your game .exe, and, Vorpx, being the brilliant program it is – will hook into the ‘real’ game when you launch it.

I just put the Conarium profile on The Outer Worlds, havent played it yet, but launched successfully in Vorpx and we can figure out the ‘ins and outs’ of getting it to run well later.

but wanted to give this heads up to my Vorpx brothers and sisters. Love yall, let me know if my explanation was bad, ill try to explain it better if i failed to make sense :P

Ansonsten seien Dir die Good Full VR Games for Beginners ans Herz gelegt.

The Rockstar engine is being called Rage for ages, doesn’t mean much. They changed so many things with every major game that personally I would be surprised if the GTA V profile would be of any use. At this point it’s not even clear if they still support DX11 as far as I’m aware. So don’t get overy excited yet.

So I keep running into this issue every time vorpx needs to update. While it’s easy to blame the anti-virus for the fault, I think a couple of things with this program are the cause.

    1. Why does the downloaded update filename keep changing when you run “vorpX_WebSetup.exe”? You can’t whitelist a file if it’s name doesn’t stay the same. If you try to approve it after the fact, its already a done deal. The anti-virus already starts quarantining/deleting the file. Additionally, the folders in question that Bitdefender has called into question have already been whitelisted by me.

    2. Why does vorpx try to download something to C, then move it to your install location? Why is it unable to make the install in the same directory of your choosing or just keep all the related files for the application in one folder? Why does it not allow you to change the install directory location after the first install or place the require temp files in the location of your choosing?

I know I am going to get the “Well just whitelist it in the anti-virus program” response. The reality is, the temp folders you attempt to use have already been whitelisted due to me going through this before. Even if we forget about how Bitdefender feels about people trying to modify content on C, Windows 10 doesn’t like you installing anything on C. Yet developers keep trying to do it.

The files are being detected as “Atc4.Detection” malware. Additionally, because your filenames keep changing when they’re downloading and then attempting to rename in certain locations, the installation itself is being treated as malicious. Those files are also attempting to rename other files in directories. I have sent an e-mail to Bitdefender Support to confirm what Atc4.Detection. It’s easy to write this off as a false positive, but right now the program isn’t working for me at all. This is probably why customers are having such a hard time having the game hook into apps. It’s very possible these installations are not completing properly or the anti-virus is stopping it from performing basic functionality because its being seen a threat.

While its good to rely on the community for feedback, if you’re going to sell this product, you should be at least be willing to contact the support of the anti-virus companies reporting that your program is malware and have it whitelisted. This has been an issue ever since I started using the program two years ago.
