Damn, one of the most asked features since forever is finally making it’s way, great job Ralf!

With this i think i’ll give it another try to the Halo franchise, as it has one of the biggest “in your face” guns of any game i’ve tried which turned me off from playing it.

It’d genuinely make my life if Halo:Reach through the MCC were ported to VR.

Which version of HALO 2 are you using? 2014?
Can not get the G3D to activate. What is the trick?

“I still wonder what makes people so hooked with those multiplayer-only titles”

Well, I mostly play multiplayer titles exclusively. I think I’ve finished 3 single player games in my whole life.

To each their own, of course. But I’ve always leaned towards a ‘quick fix’ game.
I like COD/Halo etc. because they’re five minute matches, and you know who won and then you do it again. It helps that I have a group of around a dozen of us that have gotten together for lan nights since way back when we had 2 xboxes and 2 projectors and would play 4v4 system link. We eventually all got our own consoles and online meant we could play more. So when you have a team of guys online regularly, it’s a fun, competitive vibe.

As far as Battle Royale goes… I friggin love it. It’s so challenging, so when you win, it’s a buzz. I loved Fortnite when it first came out. But then, it was controller players only. No bots. And no ‘quick build’ setup on the controller. So people only built basic ramps etc for some cover.
Now you’re cross-playing pc players on kb/mouse, and it’s anything but a straight up gunfight. I’m not interested in having a ‘build a battle’.

I thought Blackout (the first Call Of Duty Battle Royale) was awesome. We played it exclusively (ie. didn’t touch the team death match modes for the first time ever). But again, it was fair. Console only.
I can’t stand Warzone, though. This obsession with crossplay has ruined console games. I have to play against people with a faster, more accurate input method. And to combat that, suddenly my aim assist (which used to be just that) feels like it’s aiming for me half the time. Not to mention it’s the first time ever in the history of console I’ve ever encountered cheaters.
Whereas Apex Legends is my go to for BR now. You’re only matched with console players. The aim assist is subtle. The time to kill is long, so you actually have a proper exchange in a gunfight.

So, yeah… some people love to jump on with pals and play to compete. We play everything though. Racing games. Rocket League. Sports. Old school games like Bomberman and Worms. Whatever gets you screaming at each other. :)

But 3d and VR definitely has definitely got me playing more single player stuff. Just coz it’s so immersive, though. I’d love to, and probably prefer be able to play against pals in VR, or even just in 3D on a virtual cinema screen. It’s a shame most of them won’t work because of anti cheat.

1st, do we have a work around that fixes attaching to microsoft games through games pass

2nd, Do we have a list of games that still work with the gamepass and Vorpx. I had no issues with Halo MCC

I am not a modder nor am I familiar with coding so this may be a silly question. But, how come some older games like Doom or Half Life have the capability for full VR immersion (I.e. hand tracking, locomotion, physics) but others like Halo or Clive Barkers Jericho do not? Is it difficult to create hand models and tracking for these?

I would love to try to create something! I’m new to Vorpx but have been tweaking Dying light for the last few days using my HP Reverb G2 and am very excited at the possibilities. I know there’s native support but it’s nauseating without head tracking so I’m using a cloud profile. Is there a way to combine the 2 methods? I can’t seem to get the full 3D immersion from the cloud profiles like the native option. Lastly, is it possible to add in hands like people did with half life using Gary’s mod or something?

In Bioshock Infinite per default the FOV is handled via an .ini edit, not with the memory scanner. Please reset the profile to default in the config app and afterwards make sure to follow the hint shown in the top left corner of the game window regarding setting the FOV slider in the game’s options to max. Without that the .ini edit DirectVR does has no effect.

Halo 4 doesn’t have an official vorpX profile. If there happens to be a user profile with supposed memory scanner functionality it’s unlikely to fully work, if at all. The scanner configuration is fairly game specific. Also scanner profiles don’t always include FOV. You can see what the scanner does and what it doesn’t in a game on the DirectVR page of the vorpX menu.

The G3D FOV Enhancement option can be found under “More 3D Settings” on the main page of the vorpX menu. Be aware though that in most newer games it causes too many visual glitches to be of much use.

BTW: A general way how to handle FullVR for games without automatic FOV adjustment is explained in the “1-2-3 Game Setup” guide in the vorpX help. The method described there isn’t always 100% perfect, but it always works. Additional information regarding FOV can be found in the “Essential Hints” guide in the help.

In Task Manager, I Ended Task on Windows Defender, some Nvidia stuff, and a Logitec app for my mouse. The rest was Windows 10 system, Steam, or vorpx stuff. But FOV scan still fails for all my games.

I did try to fix Bioshock Infinite and Halo 4 manually, but (and I know I probably sound dumb), I can’t find 3D FOV Enhancement in the in game vorpx menu. Am I crazy, or is the setting missing in these games in geometry mode? Or do I have to turn off Direct VR memory mode for it to appear?

P.S. Three weeks ago, I was able to do it all manually for Resident Evil 3 2020, but it may have been partly the First Person Mod.

I just got this program, works great with a few games I’ve tried, but it won’t work for a lot of others that are supported like RE7, Halo MCC, and The Long Dark.

I’ve tried turning off all antivirus programs, restarting each game, and turning on “Use Alternative hooking method” and “Run vorpx control as administrator” and still not attaching.

I’ve also tried running a game that does attach then run another game and nothing.

There has to be something I’m missing but most people’s problems stem from AV programs, which I disabled mine completely.

    Help please?

@thomas3d that video looks like Z3D – there are distinct depth buffer artifacts on the windows – stretched pixels that look like glassy halo.

Still dont see depth in adam original, but Ive made fill g3d profile for the mirror one, its on the cloud, enjoy. Not entirely sure z3d on it works, but you can report back, g3d surely does and if you are switching them around you will need to rewind a bit to get rid of g3d glitch that happens after z3d switch.

I recommend pausing and using mouse wheel to zoom out some scenes, if you have shader authoring enabled you can switch dof back on but it doesnt account for one eye so you will see halos around things.

I just bought Vorpx a few days ago. I had heard about it, but been on the fence for a few years. Ive been playing alot of halo and saw a beardo benjo video that it could be played with Vorpx so I bought in.

Ralf what you have done with this software is fantastic. Halo CE was amazing, I just beat it last night. I was sad to learn the other halos dont work well yet, but still that one experience was so amazing. Ive moved onto Black Mesa now which is also extremely good.

Im getting more playtime out of my headset now, in just a few days, then I have in months. So thank you Ralf, and Beardo Benjo, and everyone else contributing to this.

UPDATE: I ignored the vorpx warning and tried the game with the mod anyway, and it works. Here are the links to the mods per Halo game. Apparently you can’t install them all. They have to be one at a time depending on which game you choose.

The Halo games work beautifully in VorpX. Unfortunately the game’s HUD and crosshair design doesn’t translate well to VR. I found a way to remove it in the original Halo CE, but not in the later games. Has anyone found a way to remove the crosshair and Hud in any of other games, specifically Halo 3?

MOD TO REMOVE HUD AND CROSSHAIR FROM HALO 3 (IT USES A D3D11.DLL FILE WHICH MAKES IT INCOMPATIBLE WITH VORPX: https://www.nexusmods.com/halothemasterchiefcollection/mods/88#:~:text=Press%20caps%20lock%20to%20toggle%20HUD%20on%2Foff.%20Press,toggle%20the%20HUD%20off%20with%20an%20Xbox%20controller

Officially supported from the Masterchief Collection is only Combat Evolve currently. G3D in Halo 3 works IIRC, but largely without game specific adjustments. The same might be true for other parts of the Masterchief Collection.

The Masterchief Collection is organized in a fairly uncommon way: it’s one overarching program that loads the actual games as DLL. That clashes with how vorpX handles per game profiles, making it difficult to apply some game specific adjustments. I have that on my list, but it’s not super high priority since dealing with it isn’t trivial and would probably never benefit anything else than the Masterchief Collection.
