Just finished setting this game up and …wow!!! Looking forward to the high def res rift with this one. I have been playing this game in 3D for quite some time..but does not come close to what the rift does for this game. I found the following online and was for me.. very helpful….

For FOV changes Basically add the lines

    Bindings=(Name=”F8″,Command=”FOV 100″,Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False)
    Bindings=(Name=”F9″,Command=”FOV 110″,Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False)
    Bindings=(Name=”F10″,Command=”FOV 120″,Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False)

to the [Engine.PlayerInput] part of your “AliceInput.ini” file (found in MyFiles\My Games\Alice Madness Returns\AliceGame\Config) … F8-F10, cause F11 doesn’t seem to work and F12 is reserved for Steam screenshots. Use whatever FOVs you like.

It is best played behind the player with the 2k or up and down court angles. The sideviews work too but not as immersive.

I wouldnt go out and buy 2k14 just for the Rift purposes but if you already own it like me it is worth experimenting with.

And by the way i ended up buying the console version too because the players dont seem to carry momentum on the pc version. Console is better in this rare instance.

Add my machine to the list of crashes with Bioshock Infinite at some random point in the startup menus before I actually get into the game world.

    Latest nVidia 327.23 drivers
Twin Frozr MSI GTX 770 OC
    i5 3570K @ 3.4GHz
    8GB DDR3 RAM
    Windows 7 Pro 64-bit

I do have MSI Afterburner and MSI Gaming App installed, but it doesn’t matter if I run those utilities (in any mode) or not run the utilities at all, B.I. crashes. I have not tried completely uninstalling the MSI utilities though. My reasoning is those utilities are installed and I can run Skyrim and Borderlands 2 just fine (all I’ve had time to test so far), so it’s unlikely to be the MSI utilities causing the crash. But of course, with troubleshooting, until you actually nail it down to a real cause, everything stays on the table as a suspect :-)

    Hi Ralf,

Respectfully I completely disagree. Others around (reddit) have also criticised the lack of depth on bioshock (Geometry Mode) as well. The fact it is does not look like real life. Something that is 20 meters away looks like it is a couple of meters infront of me. I am not comparing it to and “over the top monitor 3D effect”. I am comparing it to another 3D driver, and whether you agree or not the other driver appears more lifelike.

I would also argue it currently feels more uncomfortable because of the lack of depth. In other solutions I can get my bearings rather easily. In VorpX my eyes are having to work hard to figure out at what depth each item is. This really does need a world scale option or the specific bioshock settings looked at. I will try a few other games and report if it is just bioshock giving me this or all vorpX.

    Hi guys

couple of thoughts whilst I wait for my activation code. The impression I have got is that you like to tinkle and play with the tech. In case I have the same issues I put some thought to your issues.

    1. You mention tridef does that infer that you have it installed? If so I would suggest removing it and reg cleaning.
    2. If you tried Verio or the Perception drivers again, disable and then uninstall and reg clean – delete any of the bin dll files you may have moved into game directories…
    3. CtR Alt Del and check to see if any of the Unity processes are running in the background as that ‘steals’ the sensor data..
    4. Have you Splashtop or Kaney installed? Uninstall.
    5. Have you any game controller software installed some of those drivers are quite flaky and could interfere with headtracking.
    6. Have you used sweetfx or ENB? These intercept the dx dlls and I would imagine at these stage could cause conflicts.

    Just a few random thoughts.

    I hope these help.

    Good luck

i think its good to wait. i rather there be a lot of game support and less having to manually set up things. also i want the headtracking to just “work”. both tridef and perception just arnt there yet. and for 50 bucks i rather wait for a bit to have a driver that works…..that doesnt feel buggy that feels like a polished driver with many features. i griped before of it taking forever but seeing how both the other solutions in my opinion fail right now (more so tridef considering it costs 50 bucks they should have did more interial testing rather then rushing out a half baked beta that only offically suports nearly as many games (few) that perception does). i can wait a bit for someone to finally get it right. i hope Vorpx will be awesome!

What the hell Mr.Geddings, just a week ago you were screaming at Ralf and calling him a dick for not having a release yet, now you are saying it’s good to wait?

I think you better prepare yourself for disappointment because it doesn’t sound like you understand the fact that ‘retrofitted’ drivers (which is what VorpX is) will never be perfect.
Tridef never ‘pushed out’ a half baked beta, they make it clear on their website that the beta is ‘experimental’ and in a very early state. As well, for those of us who had already purchased Tridef for it’s stereo drivers, the Oculus Rift support is a nice addition to an already great product.
You could almost guarantee that many of the games that VorpX officially ‘supports’ will run at about the same level as many of the games that you can play with Tridef but are currently listed as ‘unsupported’ due to the amount of tweaking that are currently necessary to get them working just right.

well yeah i understand that you have a job fine. but then again thats more the reason to release the thing now as a beta. you could earn some extra money and then just take it as you go. but whatever. what gets me is just that the fact you havent bothered to commmicate and provided any blog posts or any real updates in months i mean at the very least you could post a video once in a while of your progress you know? i didnt mean to be overly rude (and for the other guy so your saying you woudnt want a person to buy your product who was rude to you. online.thats stupid money is money if you take it so personal thats your problem)

it would just be nice to hear more updates or some sort of timeline. and i just wish youd go ahead and release the beta to those who wish to be “early adopters” its like what a lot of devs are doing these days, with kickstarter and things like star citizen. i honestly think thats a much better way to do a project anyways ….expecally if you are more transparent and at least try to provide good status updates too. just leaving everyone in the dark on things just is really frustrating.

but i really think you should release the beta for those who want to pay early that will releave some pressure as you have the beta out for users and can just take more time to work at it at your own pace while earning a bit of money from it. or at least give us a reason for such a long delay when you said it would be out shortly after rifts started shipping..

but whatever. i guess it comes when it comes. didnt mean to be overly rude but its just frustrating because we are all sitting her wondering whats really going on with VorpX.

i think a few more updates or somethng would at least help.. updating your blog even just once a month would be better then nothing.

..and even when Ralf posts a reply, you spew the same old text. Can you not just leave it now?.
I can imagine Ralf bows to pressure and releases it in it’s current state and then you cant get a game working properly because people have different OS’s, GPUs, mem etc etc…you’d be here every day again moaning about when the next update is coming.
I really wish you’d think about these things a bit more rationally.

For the record, I have had a retail shop for 18 years..and money certainly isn’t money. I’d refuse to sell something to someone that had the tone you have..and I have done and will continue to do so.
Maybe you don’t read over what you write but regardless of your intention, you are simply rude.

I am as frustrated as the next guy, but you know Mr. Geddings, developers have feelings too.
Maybe Ralf is having Family troubles. Maybe the guy is having a hard time dealing with all the attention (I used to suffer from anxiety disorder); Maybe he realized that there was a huge problem in his code and he is struggling to figure it out for us.
Or maybe he just figures ‘fuck all of you’ because he keeps reading disheartening comments and angry thankless statements like the ones you keep posting all over these forums…

The Man doesn’t owe us a thing really. Nobody has lost any money; and we can’t expect to have support for a product that doesn’t even really exist.
In fact, people are amazingly lucky to have some 200 or so demos, as well as a few commercial titles already to play on their developer kits.
Don’t expect anything software-wise outside of development tools until there is a consumer release (although Ralf (Ralph?) did say he would have something released by now so I can empathize a little)

P.S. I flipped it rather good on the OculusVR forums a while back when I found out our Rifts were being delayed by customs and it just resulted in me feeling and looking like an ass.
Mind you I was nowhere near as rude to people there as you are being here to Ralph, but Man was I ever cheesed.

These games are perfect for VR and because of the scifi I think it would be very enjoyable.

Imagine the HUD right in your face or even an Elite or Grunt

Anyways I just hope this could happen and get vorpX support I’m a huge VR fan and Halo fan and I love how vorpX can let you play almost anything!!!

Ok seriously you are starting to tick me off sir. its insane that you are taking FOREVER to release it because apparently it has to be perfect..even though the first users for it will be with the DEVELOPMENT KIT! therefor we dont CARE if its not perfect!!!! jebus fricking christ. It just really upsets and frustrates me.. your software is badly needed because lets be honest right now that many things to try with the rift i did most of the demos and the only real game i can play on it is minecraft as i dont like the perception driver settings and half life 2 i rather play it without the hud but you gotta freaking enter two console commands everytime you load a map (and thats not easy to do with the rift).

i got my hopes up thinking oh wow at least world of warcraft is going to work with it using a mod someone did.

it doesnt..well not for me. maybe because my moniter cant run the super low resolution apparently required by the mod. corse it doesnt help that you have litterarly like 42 steps to get the damned thing working and even after all that it didnt for me….not their fault though but if they had a coder like you who could simply inject a driver instead of relying on TWO other programs .to get it to “render” right.

(again not really their fault i suppose though i strongly suggest they come up with a better solution in the future at least…)

but seriously come on release the damn thing already. we NEED it. and hey we are willing to PAY you for it.

hell. ill say it. it pisses me off!

you annouced it before the rifts started shipping you told us then “ohh oooh it will be out around when the rifts start shipping”

YEAH RIGHT!! then hyou go and post a nice little interview and have Road to VR do a nice preview of Vorpx like what 2 months ago? and since then NOTHING?

really?? i mean come on..how freaking long is it going to take you? my guess is another company like tridef or something is going to come up with a solution before your slow ass does.

the fact that you freaking dont even BOTHER now to update the blog here AT ALL in what THREE frigging months. shows you really dont give a flying fudge about the people here who want to be a part of it.

God just what we need for this …some anal developer whos locked in his room in la la land taking FOREVER to release a damn product thats right now for a DEV KIT vr headset.

GOD! it PISSES me off! how long is it going to be? another 3 months?

what really rubs my skin is the fact that you gave out (free im sure) nice little beta versions to “special people” who have had it for MONTHS now but for those who are willing to PAY YOU for the damn thing oh no screw that….no we cant get in the beta…not even if we ask. no sorry screw us huh?

whatever. you should have had a beta program like what they are doing on steam now where you pay for beta at a discount and then get the full version too

that way people who really want it wont have to wait months and months and months and months and months. and that way you could take all the time you wanted in the beta.

UGH. whatever. gotta say development for the rift has been pretty slow lately. there was a bunch of cool demos and stuffs the last few months but i dunno the last few weeks its like been silent. i guess there busy working on their projects but we NEED VORPX!

god id almost be willing to pay 100 bucks right now to get it JUST to have some more content to use with the rift!

hell thats what im doing right now with Unity. because of the lack of content.. i bought a 90 buck asset pack (was a nice one too) to have something to work with

and im kinda using it as an alternative to garrys mod because that idiot (ok he has a great mod but..still this pisses me off too) decides to say that it has -vr mode support in the beta and HE DIDNT EVEN BOTHER TO TEST IT (YEAH ITS A BETA BUT STILL..AT LEAST if your going to enable a vr mode make sure it doesnt freaking crash the program every single time!)

so ive been trying to learn to import other models which ironically you most likely could get in garrys mod anyways.. so i can make my little scenes and its may cost me more as i might get some other programs to import more stuff into it.

but whatever. the rift is so awesome it just begs to have more content for it. and i dont mind paying for it if its cool.

but yeah…take all the damn sweet time you want. honestly wish someone would have uploaded a beta versoin of it on pirate bay or something so that those wanting to try it out actualy could as honestly a middle finger to you for annoucing this wonderful great awesome driver that now apparently has 80 game supported

AND TAKING FOREVER TO RELEASE IT AND RELEASING A FREE BETA TO A “SELECT” GROUP OF PEOPLE AND THEN COMPLETELY IGNORING US THE PEOPLE WHO ARE WILLING TO PAY FOR IT!

sorry. people may think im being an ass for posting this.

but COME ON. maybe if enough people bitch about it you’ll finally decide “ooh gee duh maybe i should go ahead and release the beta for people who want to buy it”.

sorry this sounds negitive but apparently not like anyone ever posts that muuch here anyways considering that he has all but abandoned this blog.

RELEASE VORPX ALREADY. HOW MANY TIMES DO WE HAVE TO BEG FOR YOU TO DO SO:?
    ugh.

deleate this post if you want i dont care just sick of waiting.

museumsteve: That’s fine, we know that. But when someone comes and tells you that he is developing a commercial software which would fill a big gap for Oculus users, than the person seemingly evoraporates into thin air, people get pissed off. It would take no more than one minute (!) for Ralf to make a short announcement every week where the development is heading. And unless he is trapped on the top of the Mount Everest without electricity and internet, I don’t see why he is unable to give us SOMETHING. Is this a huge request??? From future customers??? Damn…

I agree it’s frustrating but at the same time there’s something like maybe 10,000 rift’s out there now? and yet there’s not streams of people complaining about the delay.
It’s interesting because I’ve just read a statement (this morning) by someone at Kunos Studios who are making Assetto Corsa racing sim. They constantly update their fans/future customers with developments and new features, licences etc..and yet they get abused and told they’re just teasing all the time. It seems whichever way you go it’s deemed wrong by someone.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been looking forward to vorpX since day one, as each week goes by more official support is getting announced and with War Thunder already done, iRacing support next week, pCARS very soon (option is in this weeks build) I’ll only have to wait for rFactor2 and I wont need vorpX myself..
I just decided to go elsewhere and enjoy the many other demos and apps while waiting for full gaming in VR :)

I think the Oculus creators are going to have to get into the software business for this thing to take off. Relying on game makers is a losing proposition. Just look at 3d technology. After a promising start 3d has been all but abondoned on the consoles because studios are refusing to invest extra money to satisfy a niche market. If it werent for Helix Mod cleaning up Nvidias laziness most 3d games on the pc would be unplayable today. Vorpx isnt looking to be the white knight anymore to springboard this technology and the game studios may not feel the profit incebtive to give us what we want. I’ll be keeping a close eye on what sort of partnerships the Oculus team can arrange but it looks like this is going to take quite soe time now.

Why are people so worried. Anything the mainstream developers are doing now is purely at dev level. That’s like saying, OMG there’s no PS4 games in the shops…but that’s because it’s not out yet so it doesn’t matter.
The consumer Rift is probably a good 18 months away. Anyone that has a devkit bought it knowing there were no commercially available games and that we’d either be making stuff ourselves or living on tech demos and apps form the community.

    @LiyleBigAlex:

I ordered mine on September 27th, 2012 (#20207). Just received an email from Oculus VR, saying my order status will change to “processing” in the next 48 hours :-)

Schmeltzer a few weeks longer than me. I think both my children were quicker than this… Fingers crossed this is not just because of any announcement to be made at E3….

This is probably the most anticipated piece of software for me in the next few months. I’m really looking forward to replaying portal 1/2, bioshock infinite and skyrim on it. I actually re-bought skyrim on steam (had in on xbox 360) just because of this driver and the omni. There are probably a handful of gamers such as myself that would pay a premium for early access to the driver :)

It depends on the support. Because with this there is a lot of variance in the quality of the support. Getting a game to run on an Oculus Rift is one thing, getting it to be playable, with readable menus, and high quality 3d stereoscopic support is another. That is something you have to do at a one-by-one game basis.

The only thing that I see differentiating your driver would be to do that work, that some might not be willing to do for free. In that case, that works. I only don’t know what a proper price should be. As a consumer I am of course biased to wanting to pay less. I kind of feel that paying the same amount as a game $40-50 is a bit steep. $25-30 makes more sense. Otherwise I would just go with the free version. But, again, that depends on what is going to differentiate your paid driver from a free driver.
