Hi everyone,

I’ve been trying to use Vorpx Theater Mode with some classic game emulators like Gens, Kegafusion for the Megadrive and others consoles but every time I tried to launch the emulators I can’t get them to work with Vorpx. If I have Vorpx desktop viewer on, Vorpx will just quit as soon as I launch the emulator and sometimes my screens will just lock up. Same goes for the PS4 direct play app. Also, if I launch them the normal way, Vorpx will not hook at all or I may get a some errors. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a certain setting that I need or something? Vorpx works fine with other emulators like, Redream, PCSX2, Dolphin and others as long as I pause the watcher and l’m on Desktop viewer mode. Any ideas?

I want to play some PS2 rail shooter with Vorpx and I want to know if its possible to emulate the mouse with a hand controller like a zap gun ?
I have seen some emulator do it, for exemple in new retro arcade nativel so i want to know if its possible to emulate mouse pointer with hand controller in vorpx like in a virtual desktop.

Yeah, I’m glad I found a way to make the 3d work. Already been playing a bunch of games!

I’m not sure about improving the framerate other than the things mentioned above. I know that if you use software mode you can’t upscale the graphics and everything becomes a bit blurry. It’s best to use Hardware mode with 2x resolution if your computer can handle it. If anyone else knows any other tricks let us know. Also, go to Config/Emulation Settings/Speedhacks and make sure you enable all of the speed hacks. But, maybe in your case, try disabling some of them and or setting VU Cycle stealing to 0.

Anyways, these are the best VorpX settings to get the best view with PCSX2:

-Game is best viewed in Cinema Mode
-Use Z-normal for 3D
-3d strength, Depth Weighting and Focal Distance set to max.
-Screen aspect ratio should be set to 16:10
-Click on “More Cinema Settings”
-Set screen curvature to 3.00 or max

Wow, I’m really excited to try this out.

The games I’m looking at trying are the Kingdom Hearts series and Dirge of Cerberus. Trying Dirge first, but PCSX2 is doing this weird thing where half of the screen doesn’t clear each frame like it should. The wiki describes this as “bad post processing” https://wiki.pcsx2.net/Dirge_of_Cerberus:_Final_Fantasy_VII and recommends using software rendering to fix it. Eww, that’s awful. Anyone know of a way around that?

Going to try Kingdom Hearts next.

I did eventually find the distance slider while I was trying another game, Portal

From what I could see, FullVR mode did not have a distance slider. But Cinema Mode did and that helped a great deal.

I think if I follow your suggestion to turn headtracking off, then that might just do the trick.

I’m also excited to try PCSX2 which I see has a profile. That’s alot of games! I’ll make sure to reply back with results.

By the way, I hope VorpX has an end-of-life plan. I’d hate to find out, 20 years from now, that no one can use the software because “activation” services have been abandoned without removing them as a requirement. Normally, stuff like that would be a dealbreaker for me, but as far as I know, VorpX has no serious competition.

I heard about VorpX from Ross Scott of Accursed Farms and you know what he’s like about dead games.

The most important thing when using PCSX2 along with VorpX is to make sure in the “Configure VorpX icon” and within the “General” tab at the top, is to make sure “Enable Expert Settings” is checked off on the right hand side.

This gives you the options which make the game 3d, or as 3d as they are going to get:

So have 3d strength, Depth Weighting and Focal Distance set to max.

Have you tried any emulators such as PCSX2 or PPSSPP? I’m particularly interested in seeing if Ridge Racer V(PCSX2) or Ridge Racer 2(PPSSPP) works.

There is no profile for for PCSX2 profile with 3D support currently, sorry. The existing one only ensures that vorpX can hook into the emulator, but it doesn’t provide stereo 3D.

How do I get an experience like Dolphin VR? I love playing games in Dophin VR. Mario Kart Wii is addictive, best way I’ve never played Mario Kart. Super Mario Galaxy is great, too. Definitely my favourite way to play Galaxy.

I would love to play some PS2 games this way. But none of the settings I pressed seemed to manage that. Does VorpX just not give an experience similar to DolphinVR in this regard?

If I wanted to just look at a 2D screen and not be surrounded by the 3D textures, in third or first person, I could just use Bigscreen which is free…

I’ll check that. No promises, but if possible I’ll unlock the SBS display option for the semi-official PCSX2 profile and upload it to the coud within the next few days.

I started successfully using it a couple weeks ago. It seems to be working pretty well even though it needs some ironing out.
