Vulkan definitely won’t work, OpenGL still works here. Please note though that the game is not officially supported, OpenGL support in vorpX only fully covers older OpenGL versions up until about Doom 3/Quake 4.

However, if it doesn’t hook at all in OpenGL mode, please check for the ‘usual suspects’ in regard to hooking issues: virus scanners, GPU/CPU utilities, messengers, game recording/streaming apps, generally everything that can show notifications in games.

If you haven’t done so already, trying the alternative hooking method in the config app is also worth a shot. Caveat: the alternative method is not meant for general use. Only activate it in case of issues with a specific game.

On my side I can add:
    Oblivion
    Dear Esther (non Landmark edition)

On Vive ages ago I got working great:
    Far Cry 3
    Dishonored

Quake 4 works well then in Vorpx?

First, in all your testing, have you tried the new alternative hooking method? That may make a difference.
Second, if there is no option to switch to an OpenGL mode, chances are, it is running by default, and you can try any of the profiles from the list above to see if you can find something that works. Just as a shot in the dark, Quake tends to be a pretty defined standard, I’d start with that. Maybe Quake 4? It really depends on what version of OpenGL FFX is using, which would be generally relative to what year it came out. So, again, try to use something with roughly the same time-frame. Chances are, the actual engine underneath the game wasn’t changed for the remake, so I’d go with the release date for the original FFX. But you never know what profile engine ends up working.
But again, if you haven’t tried the alternative hooking method, I’d shoot for that first.

The game hasn’t been advertised as being supported anywhere or anytime, so I don’t see how you might have been cheated. More importantly: there is zero chance that this issue has been introduced by vorpX, especially considering that it only occurs in first person view. As Tandin pointed out the issue started to occur for him early 2018. Try to go back to an earlier version of Second Life from before the issue started to occur if possible.

You could also try to create your own user profile based on another OpenGL game: try Descent 2 (D2X-XL), Quake, Quake 3, Quake 4 for example. They all handle OpenGL slightly different. Maybe one solves your issue.

I can’t recommend anything more specific unfortunately since the game never even has been checked here. Providing specific help for unsupported games for obvious reasons is not possible, sorry.

You can probably play them, but they wou’t have 3D. Apart from a few exceptions like Amnesia only older OpenGL games are supported in 3D, roughly until Quake 4.

BTW: I can’t help but think I gave you this very answer about half a dozen time now. Try to remember that OpenGL games after Quake 4/Doom 3 are unlikely to have 3D unless they incidentally happen to use outdated OpenGL functions.

vorpX does not support newer (shader based) OpenGL versions in stereoscopic 3D. With a few exception OpenGL games newer than Doom 3/Quake 4 are 2D only.

There is no way to create a Geometry 3D profile for Rage unless vorpX gets G3D support for newer OpenGL versions, which is unlikely since just a handful of games would benefit from that.

If you are new to vorpX, you probably want to hop right into the action instead of learning how to configure vorpX. The list below contains first person games that work with litlle to no configuration in ‘Full VR’ due to vorpX’s DirectVR functionality, which can configure important things like field of view, head tracking or resolution automatically.

For third person games that are usually played best in immersive screen or cinema mode not much configuration is required in general, so this list focuses on first person ‘Full VR’ games that can be a little harder to configure without DirectVR.

If you are stuck, make sure to check the ‘Essential Hints Guide’ and the ‘Quick Reference’ in the help. They help you understand a few basic concepts.

You can separate user profiles from official profiles by checking the username. [vorpX] as user name always means that it’s an official profile. Those are usually the same ones you already got in your local database though, with the exception that from time to time a profile might get updated between releases.

Reliably extracting more detailed information about what exactly user profiles can do and to which level is a more or less impossible task. Good user profiles ideally have a description filled in by the author with that kind of information.

BTW: About 90% of official profiles have G3D support these days. The newer a game (and thus more technically complex) the higher the chance to hit one of the remaining 10% Z3D only titles.

In terms of OpenGL games like Doom simply keep in mind that vorpX does not support newer OpenGL versions in stereo 3D. Any OpenGL game released after Quake 4 probably does not have stereo 3D, exceptions prove the rule. Given the relatively small number of OpenGL games compared to Direct 3D that is unlikely to change anytime soon.

The official profile is in the database to let people play the game who want to play it despite no 3D being available. It’s not on the supported games list.

OpenGL S3D with a few exceptions (e.g. Amnesia) is mostly possible for older OpenGL games, roughly up until Quake 4. Given the relatively small number of OpenGL games compared to Direct3D that is unlikely to change.

I can’t seem to get vorpx to hook into quake 4, works with quake 3 but I get error with quake 4. Latest vorpx 18.2.3 with quake 4 from steam. I also tried running vorpx with admin priv, but no change.

Unfortunately i dont own Rage, so i wont be a big help.

As far i know Rage has an openGL renderer. You may try that together with a quake 4 Profile. For a test you also could try the Dishonored 2 profile.

as i said before it is generally not a good idea to send the incorrect signal to an LCD monitor regardless of the reprecussions of the monitor, it is bad practice in any case.

but yes it will look correct on the HMD but it is like dual signalling to 2 different displays, you would run it in a window on the alternate monitor which has different Res/AR properies and run it full screen on the main one that your using, imagine two monitors, one 4:3 1024×768, one 16:19 1920×1080, if you have software that ran the game on both monitors at 4:3 and the user looked at the 4:3 display, the 16:9 display would just have it in a window, you would not constantly feed the 16:9 1920×1080 display with a full screen forced 4:3 image that would be stretched, in general you would do this.

also keep in mind this is how almost EVERY game runs on steamVR, Oculus Home & fan Mods, I’m very sure VorpX used to be like that as well, it has a windowsed SBS view like quake II fan mod, VorpX is the odd one out, its bad pracitce to do this, it just so happens that it’s not a major issues in most peoples cases but it is still incorrect to do this, but if VorpX used to show windows SBS view, can’t it easily do it again?

its a new 12″ high end laptop monitor with a custom board, its very popular alternative solution to the bulky monitors with no matte and IPS finish which was my main reason for going down the custom route, this is the best monitor on the planet and will never give it up for anything.

    makezine.com/2011/09/06/33-board-turns-your-bare-lcd-into-working-monitor/

This link sums it up, but it looks much better these days, its for people that want 13″ IPS and Matte rolled into one, you wont get that with conventional monitors.

sadly VorpX does damage the monitor, the picture that is displayed flashes a lot when you run in 5:4, if you run the game for more than 5 minutes the picture on the desktop is runied for about 20 minutes, it needs to recouperate, i was only able to test quake 4 and return wolfenstion for 5 minutes to see what it was like but ultimataely couldn’t play it.

in my experience every official steamVR and fan moded VR game has run in a window, serious sam 3, arizona sunshine and doom 3, this may be due to this issue, but to a much less severe extent for every case of user, overall I dont’ think you want to force a monititor to run at a much higher resolution and/or different aspect ratio than its native resolution in general, seems that VorpX is the odd one out runing in fullscreen monitor.

maybe it can be looked into later, but I don’t think its a good idea to dismiss it too quickly, the standard seems to be to have it in a window not duplicated on monitor (then again i remeber seing robo recall on the monitor i think?)

for now I will try to run games in a window, to see what that’s like.

I was a bit on the fence about vorpx.. But I bought it back in my DK2 days and thought it wouldnt hurt to try it with my cv1 now that i got it.
It works amazing!! I mostly do old school shooters.
I made Quake with darkplaces and mods work in vorpx, its awesome!!
Also Rage and Dusk works great now and I made profiles for those games in the cloud.
Now I look at Amid Evil. Its is UE4 engine..
How does UE4 runs with vorpx?? Are there any profiles I can use?

Thanks for this awesome software :)

yes, but wolfenstein (2009), that uses the same engine of quake 4, don’t work with vorpx.
