also as for star citizen are you running in direct mode or no?
as far as i know star citizen does not work nor like to see the oculus in direct mode
i have had it work relatively consistently in star citizen with vorpx you do however have to make sure BEFORE you run it with vorpx that the gfx settings are as low as you can get them and at 1080p resolution otherwise i have noticed graphics issues causing frequent crashes.
though i doubt before long that you’ll need to worry about this the SC devs have already pledged to include native oculus support before release (i would read that as the near future; judging by their track record thats prolly going to be withing 4-6 months if that

I’m having a terrible time with Star Citizen.

Win 8.1 and it’s simply not working.

Any help would be appreciated as this is the only game on my PC I can’t play now.

I’d like to use VorpX for Skyrim (one of the two games I bought it for; the other being StarCitizen and having tried it’s a complete mess to get it working, if someone could make it so it launches into the Rift, better).
At first it didn’t work, but turns out I had SweetFX in the folder. So I deleted those and it worked. It even worked with ENB.
But out of the blue, now it just won’t hook VorpX if I launch skyrim through SKSE_Launcher.exe. Honestly, I need SKSE, it’s not worth it without it, so ÇI’m asking for help. I’ve cleaned the ENB completely from the folder, only being there the files that came with the game (+mods on Data folder) and SKSE.
    So… Halp?

    Hi all,

When using VorpX with the OR DK2 on Star Citizen, the picture is squished vertically.
Meaning, when you look at a landing gear’s wheel, it is not round but like an ellipse being crushed from above.

I have tried all available settings, but found none that would make things better.
The only one that could affect this aspect was the 2D FOV setting, but it could only make it worse (more vertical squishing), not better.

Is there a way to change a parameter to make things better ?

    Cheers,
    Saffaya.

If you set it on the ignore list it won’t work, since vorpX will ignore it ;)
A few things you can try:
Try starting the launcher (maybe create a vorpX shortcut for it) and make sure that the Rift is in extended mode with the Rift as primary monitor (that usually does the trick).
Also what worked with Star Citizen once was to start the launcher normally and create a vorpX shortcut for the exe of the game itself (if the launcher is started, you might be able to access the game exe by hand).
Make sure you have no programms running that can show ingame overlays (xfire, overwolf, fraps etc) or sweetfc since this can cause complications or vorpX just won’t be able to hook.

    Hi Ralph,

I managed to fix it somehow or vorpX did it itself. Anyways vorpX is now stable again. Only thing to mention: When not using DK2 as primary and instead show on Rift option, black smearing is there and can’t be fixed.

On the negative side Star Citizen does not work anymore. VorpX Loads it as intended and the loading screen plus menues do so too, but whenever I’m actually in the render scene, everything is black (using the vorpX menue works).

Hey Ralph, first thing I tried, but it didn’t help. However I think I’m getting at least close to pushing down the frequency of that happening.

It might be, that the error message popping up is a bit confusing, because it’s not the actual problem (when the config isn’t crashing). Can’t say for sure yet, because the last times it popped up in the Rift in Extended mode, so it might have been a different one.
Anyways, I had it at a point, where even though I changed the config, which often caused that issue too, it didn’t crash. The error messages I was getting at that point where caused because set Adminmode in the options, but the Star Citizen EXE was not set to Admin Mode (SC Launcher is btw).

I also have the suspicion that setting administrator mode and not restarting vorpX causes the issue. When you apply this, you don’t get the usual request for admin control. So you might want to add an automatic restart for one of the next versions or at least a pop up with the info that a restart is required.

@SC: When it works (and the cursor/menue doesn’t dissappear) it works pretty good. However it’s a pain in the ass to get it working since it’s still a lot of trial and error. I’m getting closer and once I have a workflow, I’ll add a thread about it.

No idea TBH. If you haven’t done that already, you could try to just exit/restart vorpX Control and see whether that also helps. Doing this resets some internal book keeping vorpX does while running and should have the same effect.

Star Citizen was never tested here BTW., so it might be a game specific problem. Although that sounds unlikely.

    Hi Ralph,
I currently have major problems with vorpX.

After hooking up with a game – in this case Star Citizen – and getting out of the game (because at one point the cursor disappeared and vorpx menu was opened out of the display area), I tried to start it again with the shortcut I created. VorpX then tells me, that VorpX Control needs to be running (it is). So I restarted vorpX, same issue. When I try to get into the vorpX config, the config immediatly crashes.
Only thing that fixes this is reinstalling vorpX. But this issue keeps returning, often even after just going into the config and back in. I’ve been trying to find out what causes this and how to workaround the last few days, approximately reinstalling it more than 30 times now.
Do you have any idea what is messing with vorpX or how to fix this?

well yeah i understand that you have a job fine. but then again thats more the reason to release the thing now as a beta. you could earn some extra money and then just take it as you go. but whatever. what gets me is just that the fact you havent bothered to commmicate and provided any blog posts or any real updates in months i mean at the very least you could post a video once in a while of your progress you know? i didnt mean to be overly rude (and for the other guy so your saying you woudnt want a person to buy your product who was rude to you. online.thats stupid money is money if you take it so personal thats your problem)

it would just be nice to hear more updates or some sort of timeline. and i just wish youd go ahead and release the beta to those who wish to be “early adopters” its like what a lot of devs are doing these days, with kickstarter and things like star citizen. i honestly think thats a much better way to do a project anyways ….expecally if you are more transparent and at least try to provide good status updates too. just leaving everyone in the dark on things just is really frustrating.

but i really think you should release the beta for those who want to pay early that will releave some pressure as you have the beta out for users and can just take more time to work at it at your own pace while earning a bit of money from it. or at least give us a reason for such a long delay when you said it would be out shortly after rifts started shipping..

but whatever. i guess it comes when it comes. didnt mean to be overly rude but its just frustrating because we are all sitting her wondering whats really going on with VorpX.

i think a few more updates or somethng would at least help.. updating your blog even just once a month would be better then nothing.

..and even when Ralf posts a reply, you spew the same old text. Can you not just leave it now?.
I can imagine Ralf bows to pressure and releases it in it’s current state and then you cant get a game working properly because people have different OS’s, GPUs, mem etc etc…you’d be here every day again moaning about when the next update is coming.
I really wish you’d think about these things a bit more rationally.

For the record, I have had a retail shop for 18 years..and money certainly isn’t money. I’d refuse to sell something to someone that had the tone you have..and I have done and will continue to do so.
Maybe you don’t read over what you write but regardless of your intention, you are simply rude.
