Thanks very much for the prompt reply. Totally didn’t realize the profiles modify the games INI.
Some follow-up questions;
So the community over at HelixMod put a lot of effort into tweaks for Glasses Stereo3D (Mostly for slightly older stuff when Glass 3D was a bit more hyped), to improve the Stereo effect/realism and improve shadows. My understanding is some of these aren’t simply graphic settings changes. I’m guessing it wouldn’t make sense to you their “mods” with VorpX? (I’ll try down the road, but looking for thoughts)
Actual, I guess that’s a good question. So the VorpX profiles adjust graphics settings (via INI), and probably the VorpX 3D driver settings, but are there specific game tweaks as well?
Also, any experience with other mods, from like Nexus Mods for example? I’m going to be starting with Witcher 1 (un-modded in VorpX), but i do see one of the collections on Nexus Mod for TW1, adds Ambient Occlusion (forces via Nvidia inspector), and another mod (shader?) improves lighting sources, on top of higher quality Texture. Any idea if these types of mods conflict with the profiles provided via VorpX?
It’s really disappointing that we have to reach out to 3rd party software to get popular games like God Of War working in stereo3D.
At least Virtual Desktop now has a virtual monitor and can play Depth3D output judder-free and up to 4k. You could try that method as well.
I’m aware that the new VorpX version has a virtual monitor driver too, but it breaks Z3D compatibility with The Witcher 3 classic version (1.31).
Unfortunately, the latest version of witcher does not work with vorpx yet, I hope that it will be fixed someday. I recently completed witcher 3 with vorpx, I used vorpx no beta, witcher 3 version 1.31 (no next gen), Ranimate profile.
I tried to run Witcher 3 nextgen (version 4.03) with latest Vorpx 23.1.0 beta in DX11 mode, but after installling additional components, script compilation fails as posted above. After removing r4Player.ws file the game launches, but there is no 3D effect in any 3D mode. I think something was changed in the game that brokes compatibility with code in this file (errors with SetAutoApplyOils are common in discussions about many mods that was broken).
Ralf, can you tell which game version should work? Can you look why it is broken and check if it can be fixed?
Does The Witcher 3 support G3D and does the newest version support it with ray tracing?
Hi,
With the current stable version 21.3.5 I was able to run the DX11 version including the FPV mods, but there was no grass/trees/etc, no matter what profile I tried. I think this must be something related to VorpX – when I ran the same without VorpX, the grass was there.
With 21.1.0 I’m not able to run at all, unfortunately. It offers to install a mod of its own, but that won’t compile (even on a clean Witcher 3 install, no mods). If I choose not to use this, it won’t start, saying it could not initialize the Vive libraries.
So, there is currently no way for me to run the Witcher 3 using VorpX…
This is kind of frustrating. I already wrote that I used a fresh installation of witcher 3 with no mods. So this is should at least work somehow. It is a bit strange that the profile hooks but still no 3D, only look on a 2D screen.
I have been trying The Witcher 3 for the last month with both the beta and the old official vorpx versions and also with the new 24.1.0 version and I always get the same results.
When I run the game in DX11 mode I get a message from vorpx that the profile requires additional components to fully work. If I run the game without installing the additional components the game starts and it has Z-normal and Z-adaptive, but no 3D. If I install the additional components, when I run the game it starts a window with REDengine3 on it and it says “compiling scripts” and than I get this error:
Error [content0]game\gameplay\damage\damagemanagerprocessor.ws(557): Could not find function ‘ShouldAutoApplyOilImmediately’

I have the game on GOG if that helps.
I hope there will be some answers. I bought Witcher 3 on steam and just installed it. No mods. Than I startet the game, all is fine. It is the complete edition with the next generation graphics.
Then I started vorpx and the game. The game hooks and just gives me a flat screen, so I look on a screen without 3D. I can call the vorpx menu and it works, but no way to get 3D.
Since I changed nothing I guess other players should have the same problem, too. What can I do?
Having finished season 3 of Witcher on Netflix, I’m ready to (belatedly) dive into the Witcher 3 game.
I see that Witcher 3 went through a recent upgrade, and Ralph did some beta work to support it. I’m on 23.1.0 beta 4. However, I can’t seem to get Vorpx to hook into the game.
Just curious if anyone out there has Witcher 3 working atm. If so:
* Which version of Vorpx are you using?
* Are you using Steam Link or VD or AirLink?
* Which Witcher 3 profile are you using? (Official one, a different one?)
* Which runtime are you using? Steam’s OpenVR or Oculus’s OpenXR
Thanks in advance for the help!
Nvidia tools let you capture 360 videos(not sure) and photos(sure) of games that support their tech, like witcher 3 or mirrors edge for example, but its a handful of games that support it
…Ah it seems its only screenshots https://blog.kuula.co/360-game-screenshots-howto
but people have recorded 360 videos of gameplay so it is possible https://www.reddit.com/r/virtualreality/comments/lwrluj/how_to_record_make_videos_to_be_360vr/
but its worth to mention: a) it will be very demanding to render game in 360 like ralf said, b) even more so in vr, c) most importantly it will look like shit if you try to watch it back in vr, you need something like 4-8k and 4k is bare minimum looking quite blurry, video file will be enormous, not many players would be able to play it back without stuttering horribly.

Maybe first you could try playing those games in a free program like Bigscreen Beta or Virtual Desktop and see how you feel. Most third person games in vorpX are played on a similar virtual screen, but adds the stereo 3D effect that makes it look like VR.
Teleport function is not something vorpX adds to games. And because the games we are tying to play were not designed for VR, you can’t expect the same locomotion and tracking systems as native VR.
I’m not prone to motion sickness in VR so I might not qualify for your question, but I do use vorpX for all games that I play. A few of my favorite third person games being Assassin’s Creed Odyssey/Origins, Witcher 3, and RDR2.
Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 and in few days the dlc, too. No other vorpx game is better optimized.
But you can also play The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt Enhanced Edition, it is very good optimized, too.
