    Hey everybody

I’ve been modding games and tweaking ini files for a while now not related to vorpx but I thought I’d use my obsession on a new platform, haha.

My main question is: does directVR still work with mods? I mean if we can push the fov beyond the default can directVR understand that my fov is higher now and I can zoom the image? Should I turn off directVR when doing things like this? (I’m scared I’ll miss out on other goodies if I just turn it off for the game.) I don’t know if there are actual algorithms in place or just safety values. Also I can’t change anything in the directVR menu, there are no resolution options or fov options. Maybe just for this game.

What I’m really trying to do for now is make The Outer Worlds FullVR properly fullscreen. It looks like someone made a widescreen mod @ gamingpcwiki (If we can post links, I’ll link it). I think keeping the game in 16:9 makes it hard anyway, but a fov boost could work.

Honestly It really sucks that we can’t see what directVR is exactly doing and edit as we please but I’m sure the creator of Vorpx doesn’t want people messing up their games badly… Is there a profile opener or something, maybe make it read only?

    Hey everyone,

So I typically use DirectVR when available because it does make my headtracking much smoother and work better overall. In Outer worlds you need to do DirectVR before touching anything on the controller, which I have been doing so far while trying to get this to work right.

Problem is – this may be unusual, but I like to still have full Y Axis function of the Right Stick even with full headtracking (Basically, I want to be able to use Headtracking + normal controls for looking up & down, as if the game was pancake)

Problem Im running into is, after doing the DirectVR Scan, it makes my right stick only work on the X Axis, not the Y axis… and I did set the option in controls to “Set y axis use” to 1.0; but when I do that, it tells me I have to reboot the game to ‘turn’ the Y Axis option on under the input settings.

When I reboot the game, I have to run DirectVR again and basically get stuck in a loop – use DirectVR to get the Headtracking working w/ a controller, then, go to Input and set Y Axis on right stick to 100%, then it tells me to reboot to get it to work; Reboot and do DirectVR to get headtracking to work – then it ‘overwrites’ the Y Axis option, from what I can tell.

Does anyone have a profile they can share that works with DirectVR + has full Y Axis support for the right control stick?

Thank you very much for your time, take care!

unfortunately head rotation sensitivity is only accessable in menu if direct vr scanner is not used. (in the case of outer worlds it defaulted to .35). Changed it to around .45ish and head rotation was great.

Once direct vr scanner is used (and i prefer now to play with it, much more smooth), the multiplier is always same and not accessable in the menu. Some way to make it still accessable?

I had mouse speed ingame to 15%. I bumped up and down mouse speed ingame to 100% or 50%, it does only change the speed of the mousecursor, not the behaviour of the head rotation in game (if using direct vr scanner).

I play now in 1440p and g3d, much better immersion.

btw, in the vorpx menu there is a description error. In the KB/Mouse Tab it states two times “right stick X sensitivity”. The lower one should be “Y”.

    Dear Ralf,

Thank you for the support of Outer Worlds, it’s great!
I do enjoy the game in immersive screen mode and z3d on my Valve Index HMD.
One thing nags me: even if i set the head rotation multiplier to 1.0, the head rotation is still not 1:1 but more like 1:.5 or less. Is there a way to edit the official outer worlds profile (that’s the one i use) to set a higher head rotation multiplier? Btw, i do not use direct VR, the scanning needed after every level loading is annoying…

Thank you for your magical piece of software,
    Werner

    Aquanox Dark Descent

I made this using the Outer Worlds unreal 4 profile.

    Cinema Mode.

The game is not great, more arcade than simulation.
I hoped for an underwater Elite, but it’s more like the old Descent games.

You might get some enjoyment from the underwater environments but I would not pay full price, wait for updates and a sale.

Have to say, The Outer Worlds is probably the second best G3D game I’ve seen done in VorpX. (Second to Skyrim of course).
The shadows don’t have any glitches (or very few), the aiming is solid (no double eye issue as the HUD is further from the camera). Decently high framerate. Quite happy with it.
Normally I’d be quite happy enough to play in Z3D, but this game has enough interior spaces that G3D is a nice bump up.

I read all carefully, stopped all programs in the background, deinstalled the game and reinstalled it. When starting it still does not hook up to a profile.

I give up now, other games like Dishonored or Bioshock Infinity just work with VorPx and I dont have deeper knowledge to find out why Outer Worlds does not hook up.

Okay I found this .exe file it is located at C:\Program Files\Epic Games\TheOuterWorlds\Indiana\Binaries\Win64 and the name is IndianaEpicGameStore-Win64-Shipping

I can start the game even without launcher by just starting this exe.

But still no profile attaches. I then made a copy of the outerworlds default profile and added the exe there. But I got a message that this exe is already known and belongs to the outerworlds profile.

I guess I am right that when starting up a game the “attaching to …” window must popping up!? It does not in this case, but with other games it does.

How can I proceed from here? Profile seems not to attach and head tracking is bound to right mouse button.

There is a default profile for the game. Please remove the profile you created for ‘outerworlds.exe’, that’s not the actual game .exe.

The actual game .exe is usually named (depending on the store you bought the game from): indianawindowsstore-win64-shipping.exe, indianaepicgamestore-win64-shipping.exe, indianasteam-win64-shipping.exe, or (maybe) indiana-win64-shipping.exe.

All of these are already assigned to the default profile, so normally the game should just work. If your actual game .exe is named differently, it would be great if you could let me know.

I have bought TOW from Epic Store and it runs fine. When I start it with VorPx it seems there is no profile attached. Starting other games I see a small window popping up saying “attached to …”. With TOW it does not happen. Maybe my problems follow already from this because I never play games without profiles.

The game starts up, head tracking is working and I choose the full VR option. But it still looks like I watch a close 3D screen I seem not be inside the world.

When I move my head in other games I watch around in the environment, but not with TOW. The whole 3D screen moves with me a bit and head tracking does not change what I see on the screen. This only works as usual with the rithg stick from XBox controller.

I guess attaching the profile would solve some issues. So pleas someone give me a hint how to do this!

I also read all previous information here in the forum, there were people with the same problems, but I still did not find out how to connect the profile.

I tried in every way, but the same method that works for The Outer Worlds is not working here…

    Hi!

I bought this 24 hours ago, sent an email straight after. I saw it says it takes up to 48 hours but also saw people got their key straight after sending the email.

I haven’t received the key yet and would love to play some outer worlds VR. Apologies for being impatient. Could you send me the key manually or have I done something wrong? Thanks !

Just wanting to confirm that in general, most Game Pass games don’t work with VorpX?

Actually, Outer Worlds DOES run with VorpX (Albeit no well for me) but Dishonored 2 and Metro Exodus do NOT. I think the reason might be that Dishonored 2 and Metro are configured/assumed to run via Steam whereas Outer Worlds may have been specifically configured to work with Game Pass since it is not yet available on Steam.

Ralf might you be able to confirm?

I tried creating a VorpX shortcut as per the troubleshooting guide but the Dishonored2.exe file won’t allow access. Is there a known workaround for this?

I’d really love to play this with vorpx but having a few issues that are holding me back.

    1) There is still some fairly strong distortion when looking around.(compared to say like portal 2 in which there is hardly any) Zooming in seems to help but on this game I can not get image zoom to go past .875. (thoughts?)

2)I have to use the Alt L scan EVERY TIME I enter go back and forth between areas. Is there anything that can be done about this?

3)The game is crashing like every 5 minutes. I have a 2800Ti and 9900K chip so specs shouldn’t be the issue. Is this sort of known thing or is it just on my end?

    Thanks!

I’m new to Vorpx and playing Outer Worlds with Index Controllers and have 2 questions.

    1) Is there a way to see what button does what for the index in each game? I can’t figure out which button switches weapons.

    2) When I press the menu button, the Edge Peek activates which is great, but its covered up by the SteamVR overlay. Is there a way around this?
