    I just wanted to followup and say that after doing some more testing I have one of two conclusions:

    1. Everything is fine and I just had the wrong perception of where the camera should be for what I was looking at. If I’m expecting an object to be right in my face, but it’s really a couple a feet away, skewing my idea of perception. FOV was really the answer to everything where I thought there were depth issues, not extra high convergence.

    2. I could just be a moron.

    @Ralf
    My apologies again for all the trouble. It looks like you were right on everything. I think my main issue was I had the wrong perception about where my brain was expecting the camera to be.

    @zahncisten

    Your game examples were very helpful. I couldn’t handle a screen strength of even 2.0 on Mass Effect 3 and Metro 2033 was utterly perfect out of the box at strength 1.0. Ironically, Mass Effect 3 has a “dollhouse” effect at ANY strength, but I think that has more to do with the game itself than VorpX.

    TLDR: Ralf is right on everything, sorry for me being an idiot.

    If the same issue also occurs with other games, please check whether there might be an injection conflict with some other program on your PC that also hooks into games.

    Typical candidates are: virus scanners, any sort of CPU/GPU utility, game recording/streaming software, messengers and generally everything that can show notifications/overlays in games.

    The best way to trouble shoot this is to close/uninstall all programs running in the background.

    There seems to be some judder with recent SteamVR versions (probably since Motion Smoothing was introduced) at default settings.

    For the time being being please make sure to set “Fluid Sync” to “On” on the display page of the vorpX menu. That will cap the game fps to 45, but in turn make it easier to keep the headset FPS at 90fps. With steady 90fps for the headset rendering the judder should be gone.

    You can check the FPS values with ALT+F, should read 45/90 ideally with Fluid Sync on.

    An update that addresses this issue one way or the other will follow as soon as possible.

    This seems to be affecting all vorpx games for me – tried dishonored skyrim and metro. I did try turning down supersample, and tried to launch with both steamvr and wmr for steamvr. I’ll try your suggestion to reinstall both tonight, maybe something borked in there. Curious have you played a game with vorpx recently?

    Thanks for the info! Good to know someone has this working.

    Thanks for the response zahncisten! I did mean vorpConfig does not start, both as direct execution of the .exe file itself and right-clicking the VorpX icon in the tray. I have tried to both install and run VorpX as administrator as you suggested, but to no avail. I agree, VorpX seems to be running and it attaches itself to stuff when run. The problem is the config… Do you know what, if anything, needs to run in the background or if there are things that needs to be specifically setup regarding sound or display?

    Owned a rift for the past year and played all the best vorpx games with no issue including skyrim. Got the O+ Black Friday deal and it seems most of my vorpx games are stuttering now looking around. Thought it might be hardware related but alas, a gtx 1080 and xeon 1650v2 later absolutely no change. Previously had issues with revive and all my oculus games doing the same thing and discovered removing steamvr from the picture fixed it perfectly (you can launch from revive directly now without steam vr). I don’t think this is an issue with vorpx at this point, but rather the integration with steam VR and wmr. The stutter makes it unplayable and is the same on lowest settings in skyrim and vorpx or highest in both – nearly identical.

    So hoping someone out there has this working well or even using WMR in general. Anyone? Really hope I can find a fix since not using vorpx is a deal breaker for keeping the O+ and selling the rift. Everything looks amazing . . . until i look around :( Any plans to hook vorpx directly into wmr and bypass steamvr like remixed is doing now if that is even possible? It seems that would 100% solve all stutter issues. Any suggestions or discussion would be greatly appreciated. Going to keep tinkering with steamvr over the weekend hoping for a miracle lol.

    Thanks for the link, This must appear also when in SteamVR mode only. I would guess its a SteamVR or Windows7 software issue since they say we would need Win8. The thing is the HMD runs perfectly with SteamVR from end of 2017, this is the only exeption. I can adjust it, it just doesnt display. I really dont want to risk an update because of some other issues that were reported by users might break my setup completely.

    Answers and info are always better than empty responses or nothing at all, so I highly support this. I’m not sure who is giving you the ad infinitum treatment, but I would ask that if its ever one of us, just say something like “case closed guys” to remind us. In case we inadvertantly ask too many questions or something.

    I wish I could tell you RJK_, but I don’t know anything about the Vive Pro. I did find an article on Vive’s website which says that when you adjust the IPD by the knob, a readout is supposed to appear on HMD:
    https://www.vive.com/us/support/vive-pro-hmd/category_howto/adjusting-the-ipd-on-the-headset.html
    If you aren’t seeing that, maybe it doesn’t display when you are in VorpX? Have you tried it otherwise? (sorry, I don’t have a Vive, so I don’t know)

    Nothing is perfect, i can turn the IPD Knob but indicator doesnt display anymore in the HMD ( the Vive 1 had one ). Is that normal ? I really need some help on that. Could find anything through the net.

    Yuck. What a cruel thing to do to people. It’s still the same content-free tech demo it always was. Buy an Idris!

    Ralf, youre the Boss. I really appreciate your efforts beeing extra friendly and answering to questions whenever you can. And if you dont answer, you just dont. You mentioned it, when asking a big company for support you probably wait forwever for an answer. I think this forum thing is a bit tricky too because we dont all speak the same language natively so misunderstandings can possibly easy occur. I have the same problem with some users from my websites. Its destressing, but on the other hand some other guys are always extra friendly and helpful too which weights all that out.

    I am experiencing the message WRN: OpenVRDirectModeManager Submit Error: 101 101 0, a couple of hundret lines, game displaying with vorpX logo but not displaying in HMD after i changed to the Vive Pro. SteamVR version is the older one from 2017 (i havent updateed because of those SteamVR “bugs”) . Not supported game though (Starpoint Gemini with Whale 2 propietary engine), other games work well, just want to drop that info here for statistical porposes in case other pro users run into similar things.

    In light of a recent discussion I have a small request to make.

    I usually try to give detailed answers and explanations here, more open and detailed than you get in most other places from developers. However, I can only continue to do so if you are willing to accept answers for what they are even if you would rather have gotten a different one.

    The only alternative would be replying in a corporate feelgood style that you get most of the time online, essentially saying as little as possible to not potentially step on anyone’s toes.

    Not a good alternative in my view, so here’s the deal: I continue to answer directly and openly whenever possible, in turn you have to accept an answer for what it is even if occasionally it may not be the answer you wanted to hear. That’s the only way this can work, not everything can be discussed ad infinitum.

    I’m looking forward to continue to reply to all your questions, wishes and remarks in that spirit.

    First the usual Star Citizen disclaimer that preceeds every reply regarding the game: besides a profile being available the game is ‘unsupported’ due to its ever changing alpha status. Everything can break at any time without being fixed afterwards.

    I’m not an expert, so others are welcome to correct me, but as far as I’m aware you can play the Arena Commander dogfight module, which is available for quite a while and since not too long ago also a few missions in the actual multiplayer universe.

    Not a complete game yet, but quite a bit more than two years ago.
