sapolettosParticipantWorks great. I think this is the first time that I actually prefer the Znormal profile over the G3D one. Not sure why, it just seems crisper and clearer, and of course performance. Something about the shadows with all the foliage is just better in ZNormal.

RJK_ParticipantI wonder how many people ever tried the background image functions of vorpX.
If you really want to see something crazy that vorpX can do:
– go to this page
– download an image that you like
– go to Cinema Environments in the config app
– click add image file
– choose downloaded file
– mark as cube strip side by side (if not already autoset)
– start a game (Tipp: use the reallyslick screensavers w. cloudprofile) – i recommend “Hyperspace”
– enter cinema image mode
– push back sceen to the max
– choose your imported image from the list
– freak out !Nov 15, 2018 at 8:28pm #176759In reply to: vorpX 18.3.2 Available Now
RJK_ParticipantAfter using vorpX for more then 1 year i still find (old new) things to discover. Sift+Mousewheel in Magnifier mode, VERY logical and useful ! Recently i found out that even Cubemap Images can be loaded into background…

RalfKeymastervorpX 18.3.1 has been released. This is a maintenance release that mainly adds support for Fallout 76. The profile is a fully featured DirectVR profile with everything DirectVR can do in the best case including automatic resolution, FOV (two methods) and basic roomscale.
Additionally minor issues with the program itself and other profiles have been fixed.
In case anyone wonders: the Frostbite engine G3D support that sparked a bit of interest recently is still in development and will be made available with the next larger update 19.1.0 before the end of the year.
New profiles:
- Fallout 76: G3D/Z3D, full VR, DirectVR: head tracking, resolution, FOV, tweaks
Changes/Fixes
- Effects that look bad in VR (e.g. DOF blur) can also be disabled with Z3D.
- DirectVR scanner could time out with large scans in low memory situations.
- DirectVR menu page didn’t behave correctly if both memory scan FOV and .ini edit FOV are available.
- FOV scan was run despite .ini edit FOV being selected if both are available.
- Fixed an occasional G3D crash in Fallout 76 (and maybe other DX11 games).
- Arma III: DirectVR FOV was slightly too high.
- The Witcher 3: some objects were rendered at wrong depth.
- Crysis 3: reflections fixed, effect fixes.
- Fallout 4: minor gun decals and fire glitches fixed.

morbidexpressionParticipantThe z-normal actually looks pretty damn nice in its own right. Gorgeous game world, much better than F4 in my opinion.
Yeah, it’s definitely an acceptable option for those with struggling GPUs or in need of more FPS. Power Armor visuals are distorted and hard to look at tho, at least using the renamed FO4 profile. What an astonishing creation, the various regions are really terrific environments — Cranberry Bog in 3D, ACKGGKKGKGKGKGGKKGkgughrgh! Definitely bigger hordes coming at you in high level areas than Fallout 4, pretty tense situations if you’re alone with a box strapped to your face.
Looking forward to the good stuff later today — had a really great time last night, half in VR and half on ultrawide. I love the world building, the satisfying game loops, the random chaos of other players — most of whom so far are super friendly. DOF effect stripped away, shout hosanna!
This is way more my speed than something like ESO, I can’t get into that WoW gameplay for some reason. I know it’s getting a lot of indignation from the WE WANT THE SAME BUT DIFFERENT brigade online, but I applaud the experimentation. You can also feel the DNA of things like UO and Galaxies coming from the Austin studio. Bravo, Bethesda! Now get cracking on a VR port when you finish Wolfenstein and Blades VR.

RalfKeymasterHave mercy guys, pleeeaaase! I’d rather get the update/profile done instead of answering forum questions.
If you encounter anything that you consider not the way you want it to be, you can always turn on memory scanner FOV, which will also be available.
Hope that answers all questions in regard to FOV.

RalfKeymasterI can’t really answer these questions, sorry. If you want my personal opinion: would be rather odd to disallow .ini edits at a later point since they had years to decide that. The risk of using vorpX in online games is the same as it always was with any other game. I’m unaware of anything ever happening in the last five years. Obviously that is no guarantee for the future though.
What I can say is that I’ve been using vorpX with Fallout 76 for several hours now on multiple occasions during the beta and today with the release version. So far without any issues.

dborosevParticipantGood new thanks.
2 questions:
1) So has something changed, or have ini edits always been possible?
Did Bethesda say ini edits are here to stay?2) IS VorpX itself ever at risk of being banned? Does that ever happen with MP games and VorpX?

dellrifter22ParticipantIn case you’re still looking, I’ve put a profile for Subnautica on the vorpX cloud. I posted instructions here.
After disabling the flashlight shadows, things all look pretty good. It runs off the standard version of the game, so normal mouse/keyboard controls now apply.
Try it out if you like. Let me know if it works how you wanted.

GrumdarkParticipantI read on the internet, about some changes in Fallout 76 that will be made, for example fov hovering around 85-88ยบ and frequency reduction at only 60, or 60 and something for this game, supposedly “to avoid some possible hacks or advantages”.
This has disappointed me a lot, and I also think that it is neither the right way nor is it the real problem to correct in Fallout.Does this break the possibility of using a fullvr profile and custom FOV with Vorpx for this game finally? I’m surprised not to read about this here.

RalfKeymaster‘Official’ tip: Quake 3, map: q3dm17. You probably won’t get more non-stop action anywhere (iron stomach highly recommended).
Crysis and Crysis 3 probably also fall in the non-stop action category. Crysis 3 will get a few fx fixes shortly, so worth to wait a few days. The Metro games might also fit, although I’m not 100% sure whether these really are pure shooters, never played far enough. Far better than its reputation is Aliens: Colonial Marines, absolutely worth a look.
If third person games in immersive screen mode also sound interesting, Vanquish and Bayonetta might be something. Maybe also Psychonauts.

morbidexpressionParticipantI’m finding myself twitching, desperate to try this again. The Ash Heap and new particle effects and radiation storms in 3D – Brian Wilson falsetto as you dodge Molemen — oh MAN.
One thing folks might want to keep in mind is your mic levels on your headset and the settings in general because it defaults to always on — ask someone how loud your gain is up, you could be emitting the most horrific sounds. Ie, attempts at Brian Wilson falsettos. They need to implement better control of devices and levels in-game for sure.
(goes into Pet Sounds fade)

dborosevParticipantSo changing fov as it stands right now should not be an issue? (Unless they decide to add something post-beta? Just so I’m clear.)

RalfKeymasterGlad this is solved. Any app that also hooks into games similar to vorpX is a potential troublemaker, so it’s best to close everything that does this.
