    Hi !
With DLSS 3 coming out in few days with the new 4000 RTX GPU, i was wondering if it should work out of the box for VorpX, or if the interpolated frame generated by the IA between each real frame could messup something ?

Dlss 3 is already available by the rtx 4090 and 4080 cards and is supported by a handful of games.
I assume you refer to the release of the 4070.
The witcher 3 didnt work with directx 12 for me using vorpx so the only game I could test with frame generation support so far was plague tale using the cloud profile of the user xray3.
After enabling it the game immediately quit even though I disabled any 3d reconstruction.
I used the beta version of vorpx (23.1.0).
    Havent tested G3D.

I followed this manual to enable vVorpX for Witcher 3: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svAFX7KMw4w&list=WL&index=153.
I managed go into VR with my Reverb G2 (OpenXR) in the game. However the in game VR resolution is very low, no matter what resolution I set for pancake (2d) mode in game.
In vorpX menu in VR, “Direct VR Settings” “Preffered Resolution Quality” I can only set “OK-ish”, “Nice”, “Nicer” – no matter which one I set the resolution in VR is still the same. I can’t enable “Great” or higher, because I receive the message: “Seems unsupported for this game on your PC. Check the “add Custom Resultions” section in the help”.
I’m using Ultrawide 3840×1600 dispaly with RTX3070 and in my nVidia control panel I have several resoultions available: 3840×1600, 2880×1440, 2560×1600 and many more. I have the “enable resolutions not supported by the display” checked in nVidia Control Panel. My dispaaly is in 3840×1600 resolution. Not matter what resolution I set in game, full screen or windowed mode, the resolution in VR is still very low, so low I can’t read the fonts in the game HUD.
I would appreciate any advice – why vorpX is telling me: “Seems unsupported for this game on your PC” any why the chnages between “OK-ish”, “Nice”, “Nicer” have no effect on the resolution in VR.

I hope to try the Gervant first person update for Witcher 4.0 today. I’ll report back later if things work well.

BTW, I *think* that with full eye-candy and RT on this title actually runs a tiny bit worse than Cyberpunk 2077. I haven’t tested extensively yet, but that’s my impression so far.

I’ve had Vorpx for a few years and would love to be able to play a full game with it. A handful of times I’ve tried various games in full VR mode (Cyberpunk 2077, Witcher 3, KCD, Vampyr, Oblivion), it’s pretty cool to be able to be in those worlds in VR. However, I can’t ever seem to last more than a few minutes before I get extremely queasy. I have a 3080ti and the performance appears acceptable.

I have fairly solid VR legs and I play SkyrimVR/fo4VR and other VR games regularly. Are these games not meant to be played in full VR and more in theatre mode? I get sick even if I am not moving very much in the scene. Any suggestions welcome.

Making your own vorpX profile is usually the better option and fairly easy if you know what engine a game uses, which is Unreal Engine 4 in case of Stray. Caveat: Some UE4 games are DX12 only these days. If there is no 3D with one of the many DX11 UE4 profiles try the Grounded profile as a base.

I second this. Whenever possible it’s best to go the vorpX route – it’s simply faster than the other solutions. For example Witcher 3 (first person mod) pushed to 8K-X at 4K and every slider at max quality give a liquid smooth 60fps and can often maintain 75fps in vorpX Z3D. Virtual Desktop + SuperDepthVR can also be used, but even getting a solid 60fps requires quality concessions and a slightly lower resolution. So there is a substantial performance difference in many titles between vorpX and the alternatives.

That said, I’ve been using SuperDepth3D (and now VR) almost since the initial release and they are a good alternative when vorpX doesn’t yet support a title. I hope Ralf, that you understand that we like to sometimes discuss alternatives for when vorpX doesn’t support a title yet? If you prefer not, then let us know and I expect most of us here will abide by your decision.

GD3 works with standard Witcher 3 profile! Not seeing artifacts so far (haven’t played much) except the shadow in Geralds hair, but we wont see that in first person :) But things like Fov, resolution and such are not automatically done in this profile. I always struggle to get those things right.

Wow, hope that works! I clearly remember it not working when I tried it last, but admittedly that’s been a while.

Hello, so I’ve noticed that my performance is significantly better when I use openXR over SteamVR (my HMD = HP Reverb G2). And I mean by a lot (smooth as butter experience + 60-90 fps with OpenXR VS stutter + fps drops below 10 + ~30 fps with SteamVR). Unfortunately Witcher 3 won’t start if I use OpenXR (an error message pops up which askes me to change the mode). However, as described the performance with SteamVR is, at best, okay-ish but far from good enough or what I am used with OpenXR. I am wondering why that is.

Will I be able to play Witcher 3 with OpenXR if I buy the game on GoG?

When I launch Witcher 3 controllers are not recognized. Game starts in Vorpx, I see it in HMD, however controllers are not shown and no keys are recognized.

Using Quest2 with Link. Everything worked a couple of month ago, today it updated to new version when I started Vorpx.

Did anything change, is there something I should do?

    Thanks

I’ve not played that many games with VorpX, but my top ones would be:
    – The Witcher 3 (plus TW1 and TW2 as well, but keep in mind that i’m a Witcher fan :)
    – Jedi: Fallen Order (my GOTY 2020, i enjoyed it more than HL:Alyx, believe it or not)

Thanks for posting this. I never finished the Witcher 3 despite really enjoying it, largely because of the 3rd person view. I was continually trying to get the camera in positions where I could see what I actually wanted to see, rather than looking at our hero’s backside.

Are they still planning a re-release of Witcher 3 with RT etc?

I like the direction of having mods specific to the vorpX / VR experience like we’ve now seen with RDR2 and GTA V (not that I’ve played either of those titles. I might eventually give RDR2 a try though). That’s just a perfect idea; combine vorpX with a mod designed to make the experience work well. Cyberpunk desperately needs such treatment to resolve just a couple of issues that make it really difficult to work with in a full VR way (vehicle FOV, for example.)

I really like AAA RPGs in Vorpx. I think the 5 I enjoyed the most in Vorpx are Assassin’s Creed Odyssey/Origins (flying around as an eagle in ancient greece/egypt in VR is awesome), Witcher 3, Cyberpunk, RDR 2 and Jedi Fallen Order.

If Ralf develops such a thing for Cyberpunk 2077 and Witcher 3, he will attract a lot of attention again !
